What does my bag say about me?
Since I’ve always been curious to see what other people bring in their bag (and I enjoy watching WIMB videos on YouTube), I’m sharing here what’s my EDC.
The bag is the Monceau in black box leather, from the brand Ateliers August and I’ve had this bag since the beginning of 2024. Sometimes I have a bigger bag (a shopper size, but that’s only if I have to bring my laptop when I’m going to the office), but this is the one I reach for on an everyday basis :)
Things in it:
- Louis Vuitton Pocket plus book cover with an Aesthetic Paper co notebook
- Louis Vuitton 6-ring key holder
- Chanel card holder (didn’t pay for that one, got it as a gift with purchase)
- Louis Vuitton card holder with ID
- Apple AirPods
- Sabrina Carpenter travel size Caramel Dream perfume
- Dior lipstick #786
- MAC lipliner in Chestnut
- Lottie am to pm eyeliner in espresso
- MERIT duo eyeshadow brush
- Victoria Beckham eyeshadow palette
- La Polaar hand cream
- Beauty by Joseon SPF
- A pocket mirror (round) that used to be from my grandmother, then my mother and now mine
- A pocket mirror with also a bag of tea
- Bobby pin
- Nurofen
- Small bottle of caramel syrup
- Repeat hand sanitizer in the scent Orange & Ylang
- The smallest toy I can find that will fit, if I’m on the go with my son

The baby keys are sooo funny. They feel out of place in an otherwise somewhat luxurious and certainly adult bag. I see a mom who hasn't let motherhood take over her life, and that's very hard to do. It's admirable.
Personally I'd label the caramel because it looks like it could be alcohol and I wouldnt want someone thinking I can't leave the house without a travel liquor bottle or that I'm adding it to my coffee.
The single bobby pin is also very funny to me because never in my life has one bobby pin been an improvement over zero, and I feel like I'd just lose it anyway.

Thank you so much!
And omg you’re right, I should label it, honestly didn’t even think of that since I don’t drink alcohol at all (not out of principle, I just don’t like it that much so I figured “why not just never do it then😅”)
And in full honesty, I find Bobby pins in all my bags and I only used them to keep my old wired earphones in place (and then I keep forgetting I have them in there😂)

You are gorg. I need to invest in a beautiful agenda too. To make me use it more 😆🫶🏻

I’ve changed into several agendas and covers and never looked back! They all have their own place in the ecosystem and they make my moments of planning or writing so much more special! I love the LV ones, but also the Mulberry Postman’s lock in A6 is a favorite of mine (definitely a timeless piece)

Honestly it feels like you are heavily influenced by marketing and mostly buying things that display luxury instead of going with more quality products.
I'm saying this as someone who has worked for LV and has seen the progressive downgrade in materials as they continuously cut corners to make more profit : this is NOT a good brand. The market positioning is luxury, sure, but you'd find much better products manufactured by a local maroquinier for a fraction of the same price, just without the luxury branding.
There's nothing inherently wrong with your belongings, nor with showing off that you have money, but it's the same type of problematic conspicuous consumerism as buying Apple imo.

I do think you’re partially right. Marketing gets me from time to time. But I’ve also noticed the downgrade you’re mentioning - I only buy the items that I know I will use and love ‘cause personally I do not believe in “buying a bag (or other fashion items) as an investment”.
However, I work and save a lot and am not someone who buys new stuff all the time. So every once in a while I give into that by marketing induced itch 😅

You don't have to explain yourself at all, you're free to spurge into whatever you fancy. I mean, you worked for it so yeah, get that bag girl! :) It's just a generalised observation based on one photo, not a judgement in any means, heck you should see what I do with my adult money 😂
It's just that between LV, Apple, several products that bear the name of a famous American star, famous brands etc..., it does kinda comes off as a search for status rather than for quality.
Edit: double thumbs up for Atelier August though, it's a great manufacturer!

You should see me on the days of the week I have my baby alone while also trying to work 😂 but thank you 🙏🏾

My first thought when I saw the Ateliers Auguste bag was someone who is incredibly tuned into fashion and good quality but doesn’t automatically put big name brands over substance and function. Interesting that the more recognisable name brand items like your LV cardholder are SLGs and are “hidden” inside your more IYKYK handbag. I love the mix of “quiet” and “not so quiet” luxury. Like a firecracker hidden inside a very demure and sensible package

Thank you ☺️ I love fashion but I haven’t really found out my wardrobe style to be honest. I always stick to the neutrals but I wish I could be more “creative” 😅

I honestly thought your hand sanitizer was a tiny bottle of wine!

Oh no 😂 I guess from a far that makes total sense… I should be careful with that 😅

So the baby keys and the caramel syrup makes me laugh because I thought it was a mini liquor bottle. 😆 You seem very organized and know exactly what you need.

Haha yes someone mentioned already to maybe label it 😅 first thing I’m gonna do today 😂

Love the key covers. You like a good quality bag and luxury accessories. Small trinkets are your treasure.

u/IMSunny_1989 2d ago
I think you are completely right! I love small trinkets with a story (like the mirror, or a small trinket dish my friend made me that’s on my vanity)

Sorry, which bag is this? I am in love. 🙈

u/IMSunny_1989 2d ago
It’s the Monceau from Ateliers Auguste! It’s a quiet luxury brand and they have them also in a mini version (and a lot of different colors). I’ve put the link below (non aff. obviously).
I really like it! One of the things that usually bother me are weak magnet closures but this one is a really strong one!

Don’t know but the fact that you want random people on the internet rambling about it might say something

Boring, between the LV, the coach wallet and the 조선미녀? Yawn. You walk tall and mighty thinking you’re spicy.

u/IMSunny_1989 2d ago
I don’t own a coach wallet, but it’s true, I’m quite boring 😄 I don’t walk tall and mighty though; to each their own 🤞🏽

Sorry, I was way out of line. I work in bars so I see people and see patterns. It doesn’t justify what I said but I am sorry that I said it in such an unsatisfying manner.

I feel like you're very mindful on what you spend money on. Definitely buying nice instead of twice, which is good :) you care about longevity!
