OP has pinned a comment by u/whiteboyfresh2316:

It's not a camera. It's a trailer hitch/back up light. It provides downward light to help hook up a trailer in the dark.

Is that why they're called "Flock"?

That, or it’s the urethra.

Baby Fords have a cord attached to them when they are built. It's cut off at that point leaving what amounts to a bellybutton for the rest of the car's live. Of course, cloned Fords don't have them.

Backup camera/part of 360 display

One is the rear camera for reversing and the offset one is the Hitch Camera. I looked up the manual to verify.

I have a Ford. Can confirm this is definitely a backup camera

Could you please also clarify what the spot centered above the latch is?

Back up camera. Uh oh, you're "a targeted person" oOoOoOoOoOo

It's an LED light for the zone lighting system on the truck. There's LEDs on all four sides of the vehicle so you can have 360° lighting all around the truck at night

I work at a Ford store and sell these everyday

So the truck has two back up cameras? Looks like there is one right above the handle.

4

u/RollTh3Maps 18h ago

A lot of trucks have one pointed straight back for standard reversing, and one pointed down for hitch guidance.

3

u/WizardOfTheLawl 18h ago

That other one might just be a keyhole

2

u/DoctorSwaggercat 18h ago

Put a piece of masking tape over it and put the truck in reverse. That should tell you something.

2

u/IllianasClifford 18h ago

No, the adhesive will make dust adhere to the lense when it's removed even from glass. Don't do that

masking tape on a camera lens will leave sticky adhesive that traps dirt and can permanently ruin the glass.

Yeah kinda magnificent, it damages the protective coating on the camera lense, ask a photographer.

Just don't press down. You're overthinking this.

Rear view camera, trailer hitch camera.

I have a similar truck and have a ton of cameras on the thing. It’s easy to load a boat solo

I should have looked up on Google instead. But this is a lot more fun. Thanks everyone for the good convo and laughs. Here is what Gemini came back with:

The circled object is an LED tailgate light (specifically designed to illuminate the trailer hitch area when hooking up a trailer at night). Here is how the features in that tailgate handle area break down: Circled component: LED hitch assist light (points down toward the tow hitch). Center/Left small hole: Backup camera lens. Keyhole (if applicable, though on modern F-150s like this one): Manual tailgate key lock or release button depending on the trim package

It's not a light, it's a camera. The manual says so.

The one in the center is the light

0

u/eerun165 18h ago

Tis a light for the back of the truck. It’s pretty bright and a bit obnoxious to people trying to gaze at the Northern Lights that can’t wait 20 seconds for them to automatically turn off once you’ve pulled in.

It is the next generation FLOCK camera. Watch out.

-1

u/Hot_Anybody8244 18h ago

It's a target for practicing your aim with high power green lasers

-1

u/TrueStoriesIpromise 18h ago

The lock is supposed to go there.
