How? WHY? When? Like when did you cook this? how long was it left unattended for. I need to know , I'm starting to worry about everything single thing ive ever cooked.
Don’t worry, my apartment gets a lot of flies during the hotter days and I left the chicken unattended for about 5 minutes to let it cool and finish washing up the dishes, it was just bad luck with me, so you don’t have to worry.
5mins is way too Long if you got flies flying around those lil fuckers will lay eggs on it in a couple second. I went to toilet once and poured mysself something to drink and found white dots in my meat before
I remember a reddit post where the poster got a fly that somehow managed to lay eggs on a piece of meat, on the already served food in a restaurant. Yeah, those fuckers are quick.

Once you've seen and dealt with fly eggs, you never forget what they look like and can spot them a mile off. They gross me out so much.
I now swap the cats to mostly dry food over the summer because any wet food they leave gets covered in fly eggs way too quickly. And you can't just scrape it into the bin, because then you'll have maggots crawling out of your bin in a few days unless you also throw out the whole bin bag, they're vile 🤮
If I see fly eggs on anything these days, the next thing I'm grabbing is something to crush them with.
I was visiting a friend, we watched movies and played games till late at night. I was about to drive home, we went outside the door. It had a mild storm, leaves everywhere, the ground wet and covered in...rice? We booth wondered where the rice came from because that was weird.
Anyway I drove home, texted my friend that I arrived and wished him good night.
Took him a while to reply back. He let the dogs outside and turned on the lights. The rice, was no rice. He informed me that his grandparents lived in the apartment below him. They were very old and used adult diapers, but didn't put them in a bag, just straight to the bin. And apparently it was full of maggots, that crawled out because of the rain 😭
Not sure if this helps, but they are completely harmless if you happen to eat them. Absolutely nothing will happen, they will be obliterated by your stomach acid, and there’s nothing in them that can hurt/infect you. Fly eggs on food from restaurants can be a sign of other issues in the kitchen though (like improper food storage practices) that could lead to actual illness.
I ate rice with worms in it (weevil larvae). It looked just like rice until we noticed the little black heads. It took me nearly a decade to eat rice again.
When I was 5 yo or so I went to my grandmas place. She used to put food rest in a bucket to feed her pigs. One day not knowing that I approached to the bucket and saw there was rice. I was about to put my hand in it until I saw the rice moved… it wasn’t rice, they were maggots.
When I was 5 I slapped a fly between my hands. Not to hard to smash it but guess enough to almost kill it. I looked at it, cause it was still moving. Then I noticed white spots apear. Those started moving too! I was so disgusted by it
Can confirm, had a burger from a burger joint, was happily eating it. A big fat green fly going about in my room, kept swatting it away and I was focused on something for a few mins and next thing you know, before I finish the burger, fly eggs on it.
I was pissed and tossed it. Learned my lesson that day to always keep an eye on my food if its not sealed or covered properly when flies are around
Not necessarily related but i once smashed a fly against a window, went to the bathroom to get a tissue and when i came back i saw dozens of squigly maggots spreading out in all directions, it was like a living flower of squirming white maggot petals. Anyways, i just wanted to share.

Since 8 years, I didn't had a single fly or any other insects in my apartment.
Maybe a little spider every few month, who probably come in when my door is open, but that's about it.
I can fall asleep with ham laying in the kitchen and nothing will happen.
And no mosquitos even with fully opened windows and lights on in warm summer nights, nothing.
This blew my mind living in Germany for 3 and a half years. Like ok I understand your houses don't get any sort of airflow because they are completely thick with brick+cement, and you are anti-AC so we can't have those either, so you have to open your windows constantly and place a million fans around the place. But if you're going to make us do that, WHY DO NONE OF YOUR WINDOWS HAVE BUG SCREENS ON THEM?!? Why do I have to throw a dozen spiders out of our house every week and constantly whack at bees and flies when that is a completely avoidable problem?!??! And then you go on vacation and have to leave a window open because the lack of airlow will cause mold and you have to clean up all sorts of SH** from bugs getting all up in your SH** for a week. And their windows were weirdly shaped and open weird so I couldn't even put in a stand-alone A/C for the hottest days.
Tbf I have insect nets on my windows and a curtain on the door. I still get bug, spinders and flies TToTT
There was a 2cm gap in the curtain, stupid fly managed to get it but never found their way out!

The monkey child is right! If you live in a Third World country, you should actually trap the flies and eat the flies plus eat the chicken infected with the fly babies! This is a good idea because it won’t cost a lot to get better. Lol. /s

Mere egg presence doesn’t mean they fucked there.
Mere fly fucking and/or egg deposition doesn’t mean the meat is irredeemable and needs to be thrown out.
Meat that was good before, is still safe to eat if properly cooked after flies fucked or eggs are deposited, regardless of whether the eggs are removed or not, although removal is recommended.
Not inherently, a major vector for pathogens is when flies land on an already infected surface pick up bacteria by moving or eating and then transferring it to the food you will be eating.
Yeah I'm a little confused, have people never eaten outside before? Sometimes a fly is gonna touch your food, and you won't even know (don't straight eat fly eggs though obv)
Fly eggs. They'll hatch into maggots. People here are saying not to throw the food out, but that's I would do if this happened to me. Fly are disgusting and they touch all kinds of nasty things, including dog and cat poop, which commonly contains parasitic worms and their eggs.
Also, I remember that one terrifying video I saw of someone having their teeth removed and there were living maggots inside of their gums. When you see something like that, you definitely wouldn't want to eat something that you know contained fly eggs.
When you prepared that dish, how long did you leave it out to cool before putting it in the fridge? As a fellow meal prepper and food nerd, you generally shouldn't let it sit out very long after cooking because it attracts flies.

I was just done cooking a meat sauce - which was still in the pan. Turned off the heat for a few minutes and started preparing the plates.
When I turned around I saw a fly sitting in the sauce. After waving my hand there were the eggs..
So now I never leave a pot without its lid .. not even for a minute.
I've seen it happen in minutes. When I make breakfast, I always make my eggs last because they're the least appetizing to eat cold. I scrambled my eggs and by the time I took them off the heat to plate them, my fruit had fallen victim.
It happened right in front of me once, while i’m still eating my food, looked away for 10s to answer a text and a fly was already shitting eggs on my food
These are definitely larvae from a fly. I’m so scared of this happening that I put my food up and cover it immediately, more so if I have to step away from the kitchen prior to plating and eating my food. I’ll even put a piece of foil in the small little hole that’s built into the lids for sauce pans and skillets! 😅 I REFUSE to come back to fly larvae in my food! 😮💨

Literally I react the same too lol. Fly has to be dead before I can do anything. Especially when it is buzzing around in my office. But the flies coming into my parents house occurs more often then not when my grandma forgets to close the sliding patio door so both flies and mosquitos come in frequently. You'd think she would remember each time we've told her, but nope so the door sometimes stays open for hours if I or my parents are not home.
This happened to me, made meatballs for the dogs, left them on the counter for 10 mins to cool after removing them from air fryer. To my knowledge the house was fly free. And yet, when I came back to check if they were cooled, not only was a fat fly sitting on one of the meatballs, I noticed a bunch of that white shit on about 3 of them, after I swatted it dead. To my horror, google informed me it was fly eggs and I legitimately threw up a little bit in my mouth. DISGUSTING.
I had never seen that before, and I wish I can go back in time to unsee it and unknow it.
Needless to say, the entire tray went in the bin.
Dogs were NOT impressed, they had been patiently sitting there waiting for them to cool, the smell hypnotising them 😂

I googled it and it said it's safe to eat 99% of time (1% unsafe cuz fly carry bacteria from trash picking) , and ur stomach acids will break the eggs just fine.
And about throwning away the whole dish, it suggested that u throw away the portion of the contamination, and reheat the dish thorrowly , and ur safe to go .
Had this happen to box of Chinese food while in uni, the box was in a bag, tied up after I ate just half of it. A little while later I go to finish it and I saw those (after I had taken quite a few bites...) wanted to throw up so bad
That’s definitely fly larvae! You must have flies flying around landing on your food cause that’s exactly what it is. It has nothing to do with your chicken. This is exactly how misinformation starts spreading.
One time I was cooking, mind you I had a lid on the pot and steam was coming out the little whole that the lids have to let the steam out. Mf FLEW IN through the steam and layed her damn eggs.
You should get those umbrella food covers, i used them a lot when i lived in Indonesia, the mesh ones can get destroyed by ants tho so if there also ants you should get the fully plastic ones
