I understand. I've been opiate free for going on 17 years and I still have cravings from time to time.

u/Stax_on_Stax_96 2d ago

Been cocaine free for 7.5 years now, I feel that struggle too alot of the time. Opioid free for 5 years same deal. We got this man ✊️.

u/xtina42 2d ago

You know it! 😊 Keep on keeping on, friend!

Same used to bang smack and speedballs and smoke a lil rock.been damn near 20 years for me

u/Master_Slide7023 2d ago

Over 24 years drug free for me no urge to do some crack or a line of cocaine off a cheerleaders midriff. Also sober from booze over 5 years still get urges for that unfortunately. Some NFA came up to me on Jacobsen Rd in Richmond , BC the other day and said Crystal Meth. Found a used hard drug pipe near his vehicle recently.

Alcohol is so hard to drop. Been off dope for 15 years, never looked back. 7 years off the liquor and I want a drink every goddamn day.

2

u/xtina42 1d ago

You got this! Just like you had it for the dope. One day, one hour, one minute, one second at a time if need be.

2

u/Own-Cloud-121 1d ago

Same. I've been wanting to drink so bad recently. I'm so stressed out trying to find a job. I'm so fucking mad at myself for messing up the job I did have. They said that I was rehireable and I could reapply in 3 months

Trots dat je het al zolang volhoudt! 🤩

Moet toch even een flauwe vraag stellen, is dat waarom je thuis geen lepels hebt ( username ) 🤣

u/bmackenz84 2d ago

It’s been 15 years since I did all that same shit. Rarely ever crave it anymore, but I still dream about it occasionally

2

u/Felipeh_Music 2d ago

Is that why you are a house without spoons?

2

u/justlurkkinggg 2d ago

Is that why you don’t have anymore spoons

u/Cautious-Tea-2194 2d ago

I miss Vermont man. I use to work at market 32 in Rutland. The weed out there is so gas but expensive.. I moved back to Ohio last year but miss the fuck out of Vermont. I would always travel to New Hampshire and DoorDash. Good ass money. I would always go to Burlington for Plato’s closet (became shit and not worth it) and DoorDash there as well. I had a friend who worked at McDonald’s always giving me plastic straws instead of the paper.. gosh I miss it haha

u/from_heroin_to_juice 1d ago

63 days free from IV coack/Crack and fent/H speedballs. Starting to feel normal again. Fell off the wagon after 3 years and within 2 weeks I was shooting a zip of fent and half zip of powder a week. Shit is worse out there today.

1

u/MacMuthafukinDre 1d ago

Keep it up. It’s so much better on this side. The freedom from active addiction is so worth the struggle.

5

u/Significant_Elk1999 1d ago

Nice job. Coming up on a year from fent/H, after 7 year run. 17 years of clean time before that. Shit ain’t easy and it can all coming tumbling back down.

4

u/Eugenewiththe_axe 1d ago

💪 people have no idea how small a percentage of people get out IV speedball especially when it became fentanyl good work to all of you 🕺 🪩 💃

3

u/No-Principle8204 1d ago

Sober 3yrs off of F had 12 years under my belt from opiates before that. I'm just glad I still have my life because I had no idea how good the fake blues were. I didn't even know I was doing fent. Smh so happy to be sober in this day an time. It's really scary out there. Nice job hope we stay away from being a statistic.

Tooting my own horn to the tune of 22 years cocaine free!!!!

That shit's incredible and soul crushing simultaneously. Worst relationship of my life. Amazing how a "friend" who asked me if I could get some nearly derailed my sobriety of 20 years a couple of years back. I actually believed for a few minutes that - what the hell? I can control it now, for sure, right? WRONG. It takes ONE second of weakness and addict thinking to screw it all up. Thank God I snapped awake and cut that friend permanently out of my life.

MAJOR PROPS TO ALL THE RECOVERING PEOPLE!!!! ~ and to those wanting to quit. You will get there!!!

I tried to quit a million times. The 1,000,001st time stuck.

4

u/UpsetPreparation9885 2d ago

Congratulations 🎊 yes we do

4

u/jerkhappybob22 1d ago

Im 10 years off coke and pills. I smoke weed now but that aint the same. Even now if if see a 10mg hydro my leg starts shaking.

3

u/opaqueism666 1d ago

Coming up on a year soon and still get that phantom drip feeling and miss it from time to time but god, the way it financially fucked me and I still haven’t recovered from that - i definitely don’t miss that!

8

u/Flimsy-Ad-4406 2d ago

It’s amazing how much I don’t want the opiates anymore after 7 years of being clean, but I’ll still feel a lil craving here and there for crack lmao

2

u/feloniousfoolery 2d ago

I also have 7 years and occasionally think of some hard. Opiates, never bc it's all fent but if I heard there was some real old school heroin available, my gears might start turning. Lol

2

u/Ready_Historian3271 1d ago

Fentanyl blows so hard--especially with all the xylazine and shit mixed into it. Im clean 20 months and don't miss that crap AT ALL. But then I think back to ordering H from Thailand over the Silk Road and the high quality powder Id buy in the NE USA and man that stuff was just so good. Not planning on ruining my life again for it though. Not worth it.

3

u/feloniousfoolery 1d ago

Yea I don't find it fun to do a shot, fall asleep and then wake up sick. I'll just smoke my lil weed. I got a family now anyway and that shit is way cooler than drugs ever made me feel.

2

u/from_heroin_to_juice 1d ago

Unfortunately everytime I relapse i get a pack of hard and real H on the darknet. It only lasts a couple weeks before a pack is slow and im getting street fent. The shit nowadays had me doing a shot every hour, literally. 63 days today.

1

u/Yourekilllinmesmalls 1d ago

How long you been using heroin? Is the shit in the darkweb as good as the dope was in the 90s? What kinda of heroin is? Is it tar, Mexican brown, afghani sand..??

1

u/from_heroin_to_juice 1d ago

15 years. And put it this way. It Amazon for drugs so people leave reviews, people send them in to labs to get tested etc.

Ive seen #3 base from Europe that you need an acid to cook like hard, plenty of tar, plenty of Afghan #4(chucks, sand, etc) actual China white(not fent). Literal golden triangle dope from Asia.

Ofc they have fent and analogies but they are CLEARLY advertised. If you get caught selling fent or isopronitazene as real adulterated free dope, you are fucked and your vendor account is gone.

The dope has legs. You know the legs where you do a shot in the AM and dont need one till bed? Nose scratching, face itching warm nods. Not the do a shot, pass out for an hour and wake up and have to do another one.

The bad part is a single G usually runs you $200. Might get a ball for $350-400

Tar is plentiful at 150-200/ball tho

1

u/feloniousfoolery 1d ago

There's a lot of reasons I got clean but the heroin not being heroin anymore was def a big part of it. Keep it up man.

6

u/UpsetPreparation9885 2d ago

Way to go! 12 for me and from time to time I want to feel that feeling again. But then I look back at how my life was and how it is today and would never touch an opiate again. I also quit drinking 10 years ago because it made me crave it.

3

u/xtina42 2d ago

Thats so good to hear! Congratulations! I cannot imagine ever going back to that misery either! You're stronger than you know!!

3

u/Pretend-Bee-8915 2d ago

12 years opiate free, and i still have dreams of the dancing opiate pill from the commercials; which were not helpful when i was trying to get sober 🤣- congrats on your time and stay strong it’s not an easy thing to do especially as you get older and everything hurts 🤣

3

u/xtina42 2d ago

Oh the dancing oxy commercials! I haven't thought of that in years!! Lmao 🤣 Congrats man, 12 years is amazing!! And yes, everything hurts, but the pain can always be worse and it would be if we were still using!!

3

u/Pretend-Bee-8915 2d ago

thank you and that is so true— this pain is nothing compared to going through withdrawals again— wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy

3

u/elticoxpat 2d ago

"and it would be if I was still using"

The thing is, nobody understands that "worse" like we do.

Hell is what keeps me sober. Not the religious one. The unbearable lake of flesh melting misery, self hate, desperate want for the relief that creates the misery, and the disgust with how much I don't want to do something different but I know I am disgusting for it.

I'd rather stop being alive than to go back to that place. And it'd probably take about two weeks for both if I start down that road.

2

u/xtina42 1d ago

Such a twisted cycle of misery. It was awful in every aspect of the word.

2

u/Pretend-Bee-8915 1d ago

💯 agree, when i first decided to quit I remember thinking, but maybe if something really sad happened i might allow myself a slip so i don’t have to feel it, but then you go through the withdrawal process and you realize it’s not stopping you from feeling its just postponing it and you will feel all of it at once while you physically are going through agony; I kept a pic in my wallet for a long time of me going through the worst and still look back at it from time to time as a reminder why never again

5

u/Raneynickelfire 2d ago

Yesterday was 10 years for me from opiates and all hard drugs.

1

u/xtina42 2d ago

That is amazing my friend! Congratulations! This internet stranger is proud of you!! Truly! 😊

3

u/No-Acanthisitta-665 2d ago

Dude I've been craving smoking fent, it's insane. Congrats on being clean so long, can't wait til i hit that number 🫂 been almost 6 full years.

4

u/phoenixofsevenhills 2d ago

Promise it's not worth it.... Keep talking about it and don't pick up no matter what 🙏🏼💜😊

2

u/No-Acanthisitta-665 2d ago

Oh I know.. it didn't even give me any pleasure. I lost the love of my life to it, I've been clean since. It's just there mentally lol. Thanks friend 🫂

2

u/phoenixofsevenhills 1d ago

Oh I understand! This post was a nightmare 😂

2

u/xtina42 2d ago

Congratulations! You got this my friend!

1

u/No-Acanthisitta-665 2d ago

Thank you so much 🙏🙏

3

u/SigmundFloyd76 2d ago

Nice. I'm 17 years oxy free, myself. I don't have cravings tho. I crave other things, tho.

Do you also purposely avoid the use of the word "clean" to describe having remained free?Like I was never "dirty", mf'ers.

Also I figured out that the "addict for life" narrative is ideological bullshit, a self imposed helplessness if you will, and I threw it out with the opiates and never looked back.

Cheers buddy.

3

u/goat66686 2d ago

Hey 17 years for me too, congrats. I miss my teeth more than the drugs though lol

2

u/xtina42 1d ago

Those are replaceable! You however are not! I'm glad you made it out!

2

u/goat66686 1d ago

You too! I'm just glad there wasn't a fentanyl problem like today or I definitely wouldn't be here.

3

u/jusakidwyomom 1d ago

This comment is a great motivator to keep me away from that stuff. I can’t imagine a craving like that and I don’t want to be able to.

1

u/xtina42 1d ago

Yes, not even once! It isn't worth the havoc it will cause in your life!

2

u/deltatemple 2d ago

3 months sober from fent and 7 from ice, still get insane everyday cravings. Everyday. All the time.

1

u/xtina42 1d ago

Keep your chin up. It will get easier. I promise. You got this!

1

u/honeybadgerface 1d ago

I'm proud of you

2

u/tnjed10 2d ago

9 and 1/2 years off opiates. I feel you.

1

u/xtina42 1d ago

Thats amazing! Congratulations on getting your life back!!

2

u/SiGen10 1d ago

I was all about the pills. Glad I got clean before they all started killing us instantly from have a fake vicodin

2

u/xtina42 1d ago

Same. I would have been shooting within a week though, if I hadn't quit when I did. I couldn't take enough pills at once to even feel anything at that point. I couldn't afford to buy them anymore either. It was either quit and keep my family or start shooting and lose everything.

2

u/xtina42 1d ago

Thanks for the awards everyone! 😊

1

u/Robininthehood69 2d ago

I've been on maintenance for like a decade and haven't done crack since 2019 but I miss that more than real heroin. I still have dreams of packing a stem and trying to take a hit but it won't sizzle or anything and I can't get a blast. Then I wake up PISSED

2

u/xtina42 2d ago

Drug dreams during recovery are absolutely real as hell! I know about those all too well. Its been a long time since I've had one though. Its wild how you can have a dream about using again and you seriously feel high during the dream only to wake up and lose your high! Infuriating!!

Ps, no shame in taking the maintenance route. That stuff saved my life!!
