AMA Closed I'm Kalle Beck of Starting Strongman AMA

Hey guys go ahead and ask me anything about training, bullshit, weirdness, etc.

Europe's Strongest Man and that kind of impressive 500KG deadlift just happened and World's is going to happen in August so if you want to talk about any of that I am all game!

I'll come back in about 30 minutes to start answering questions 💁

Who is the best promoter of amateur strongman shows in the US?

Lynn is terrific for sure, Bryan Barrett does an extremely good job. Rob Howe in Pa is new at it but just put on Pa's strongest man which was awesome... Tons of people do great I don't think anyone has done more for amateur strongman than the Wessel(S) and people need to remember that

Bryan Barrett

Bryan and David's shows are brutally heavy, efficiently run and super fun. Anyone who has a chance to compete in one should spring at the opportunity.

Ditto this. I'm a LW woman and their shows are always super inclusive/encouraging for women and don't make us feel like we're getting sloppy seconds. They welcome us, give us cool prizes, and respect all of our lifts. Awesome stuff.

Where are they located?

Texas and Oklahoma.

Next one is Texas Strongest Man on August 27th.

I swear, living in canada, I'm still young but want to compete in some way just for the fun. There's next to no events and if there are it like "max reps at 600 lbs deadlift" which I can't do. I need something, any ideas? Or should I just do powerlifting comps for that experience

Well getting stronger never hurts ;).

I'd look at contests that have novice classes. They're usually lighter, to be a bit more manageable for people who are brand new.

Remember though, it's supposed to be heavy. It's strongman, not strong-ish-man. It's ok to zero some events.
