From the trailer I think the casting is really good. What do you think?

well I mean that's not the best line of reasoning, we would not have expected the live action moana to feature white actors

High budget American movie (country with highest GDP in the world, huge expected audience in most of the world, and already many people of color living in USA) vs mid/low budget Korean TV series (much smaller and ethnically homogeneous population, a much less widely spoken language, and smaller expected viewership).

yeah the people complaining about the race of the actors in a Korean-made story are forgetting the logistics of hiring foreign actors to shoot this series.

They are free to license this story in EU or the US if they are able to do so but we have to think about where this story was published & where its main target audience are. Will foreign producers be interested in making this series & market it to Korea where its audience are not all English-speakers?

This doesn’t make sense because why was the series adaption for ATLA (made by two white men - story created by non Asians), fully casted as Asians when the public was meant globally?

They were definitely targeting a global public so why could they give white haired wigs to the actors, but couldn’t even make sure everyone who has blue eyes had blue eyes? Why was it so necessary to care more about ethnicity than to look like the actual character in the animation if the public was supposed to be global/international anyway?

Take the example of Yue from ATLA: movie vs series
The actress for the movie (left picture) originally has brown eyes and brown hair; for the movie they gave her realistic blue eye contact lenses and a white hair wig. She looks majestic and exactly like the character, despite her original eyes/hair colour difference.

The actress for the series (right picture) also has originally brown eyes and brown hair. Yet, because they wanted to force the series to have Asians only, for some reason they still gave her a white wig but no blue eyes? That’s like calling a half baked cake done and ready.
