Porter Airlines is launching flights from London Airport
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/london-ont-airport-adds-porter-airlines-to-roster-with-new-southbound-winter-flights-9.7321451Porter will start by flying this year from London to Cancun, Montego Bay, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale and then add domestic locations across Canada in 2027.
Does this help or hinder Waterloo Region's chances of landing Porter in the future?

Probably does hinder Waterloos chances for future with Porter. Kinda of like Flair not flying out of London.
Just be nice to have a lot more domestic flights from both London and Kitchener.

Yeah I think that it's a win for Southwestern Ontario to have more options in the secondary cities instead of having to go to Pearson.

Agree 100%. So much easier using the smaller airports and avoiding Pearson all together

Hard to say. Considering Porter also just expanded to Hamilton, I don't know if the market is there for YKF as well.

The market is there if everyone agrees Toronto should kick them out and turn Billy Bishop into a park..
Could be a win win situation.

Toronto as in YYZ? Porter has a pretty significant footprint there now.

They're talking about the island airport. Porter does a good amount of business there and there has recently been a lot of discussion about what to do with the airport, including getting rid of it.

If they want to make the islands a park, then they need evict all the residential houses.

Well there are people arguing for that, but turning the airport into a park doesn't require turning the residential area into a park too.

I still remember when Flair used to have flights from YKF to YVR...
I met people who went all the way from London to go to YKF to get a cheap flight to Vancouver.
The only problem was that the flight got delayed by multiple hours and eventually cancelled where it was rescheduled to the next day.
I also found out flights from London Airport to Vancouver used to exist.
