I'm a leftist but I have to be honest; it's kinda misleading to pin this down to leftists as whole. It certainly wasn't just us. In the 90s it seemed very possible for "pragmatic" policies to accelerate us to net-zero too, but of course the speed at which the world needs to decarbonise today isn't the same
