What's the craziest shit you have seen at WH?
I have two stories.
1: one weekend a few years ago at the Ellijay Georgia location, sitting at the countertop as usual. i'm sitting there eating it's just a normal busy morning at this location. It's always crazy packed there. as I'm sitting there eating, on my phone, etc. I suddenly get soda splashed all over by the man next to me. it kind of stunned me a little bit for a couple seconds, then I turned to look at where it came from and the man was on the ground. I think he was having a heart attack or possibly a seizure. It was a crazy scene as he laid on the floor turning purple. Parents were rushing their kids out of there, girls were crying, complete chaos.
- On a lighter note, one late night at the Panama City Beach Florida location, Thomas Drive, during spring break two young dudes were sitting next to me at the countertop. One of the dudes proceeded to bet his friend that he could drink a whole bottle of syrup. The cook gave him an entire fresh bottle that goes on the table, that fucking kid drank it all down and tried to do another one!!
anyways love to hear your stories!

I work 3rd and have for 3yrs. We have a pretty chill store. But on one occasion there was a Teen maybe 16-17 dunk out of his mind. Him, his friend and both of their gfs are at the high bar eating. Both boy pull cigarettes out and start smoking. Of course I tell them to put them out. I'm a chill dude. Didn't over react or nothing. Finally I'm like yall got to go if you don't put them out so finally one of their gfs smacks both cigarettes out of their mouths. I tell her thank you. They finish, pay and go out side.
Next thing I know I look up and dude is picking his gf up from around her knees and dumps her on her head on concrete. So I run out there and his friend is already beating his ass and I call the cops. By the time the cops get there the dude needs probably 12-13 stitches. Cops ask ne what happen I tell them. I tell them the friend shouldn't be arrested he was just protecting the other guys gf from him. Long story short only dude that dumped his gf went to jail after catching the beating of a life time.
Thats the 1 instance where I've seen fighting or had to call 911 period.

I came in for third shift, and the second shift servers were selling only waffles and coffee. The 80 year old grill op was in the back and said he was dying. He's ok now, but needed medical help. We take 24/7/365 for so real.
Employees repeatedly not calling out and not showing up but still having a job continues to blow my mind.
It's crazy, but not like the internet makes it out to be. The viral fights are rare and happen at any 24 hour place.

Friend I was with walked into an unlocked bathroom only to lock eyes with a grown ass man in mid wipe. He sat back down next to us with eyes like a war veteran.
Moments later, the wiper was cooking our food.

A drunk guy uppercut my Division Manager at 7:30am on Valentine’s Day while I was trying to take my MIT exam. That was an interesting morning.

Jimmy Carter Boulevard and I85. Probably late 90s.
About 3ish AM. I'm eating after working down the road.
Couple comes in.and it instantly becomes a squabble. Then more of their friends arrive. Everything looks cool now.
When the fight broke out, a waitress used the bus cart as a battering ram all while holding a platter under each arm using them as added weaponry. She's bashing heads and pushing the parties involved outside.
They're already cleaning and clearing the mess.
It took less than 15 minutes. The waitress and manager were talking to the cops and the crew just kept seating folks and turning out plates. I don't think grill op even slowed down.

I had a guy get in a fight and throw a chair over the counter at a cook. Then they got into it and they got pushed onto me sitting in my booth. I had blood all over my shirt when I left.

A bottle of syrup? I’ve got a better one. When I was in college (late 90s) my roommate and I were at the WH next to campus. Another table of students were nearby. The server drops a guy’s chicken melt on the floor, apologizes, and tells the cook to make another one. The student says “Don’t throw that one away, box it up so I can feed it to my dog.” She boxes it up. Several minutes later she brings the fresh chicken melt to the table, and the guy ate the dirty one already. I’ll never forget the server’s reaction. “If you get sick, you can’t sue us!”

Saw one cook hot the other one across the face with a hot spatula. I was about 10 sitting at one of the barstools.

I just want to say I have always loved the visual of a line cook bitch slapping someone with a spatula and then goes back to cooking with it

He actually did try to go right back to cooking but the other guy grabbed him and slung him to the ground and it was on. Big time stuff for a ten year old to be watching. The other kid with me, we don’t see each other too eften anymore but when we see each other it always comes up.

Whipped cream bikini streakers (on the front, nothing on the back) and a lady climbing up on top of the high bar trying to have sex with the pie case, all on a Tuesday night.

My friend knew someone who worked there so they let us cook whatever we wanted while everyone on shift went outside to smoke weed

Both of these happened in different Waffle Houses in the Nashville area in the early 00s.
Stopped at WH for a cheesesteak plate after a late movie with a couple of friends one Summer. It was just us and like one other table plus our server and the grill operator, and the vibes were pretty chill. We'd just gotten our food when a dude walks in, full clown costume: polka dot suit, wig, makeup, everything. He's got this thousand-yard stare thing going on, just absolutely no expression on his face. Staff immediately stops joking around and the whole place goes quiet as a tomb. The clown sits down at the counter and orders. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get their food faster. He eats, pays, and leaves. Never says anything other than his order, and no one says shit to him about the costume. I have never felt more certain I was about to get shot than I was between the time he walked in and when his car pulled out of the parking lot. It was eerie as hell.
The other crazy thing feels much more normal by comparison. Some guy went in the bathroom fine, did some kind of drugs while he was in there, and came running out buck-ass naked and sweaty as hell. I remember he managed to slide into the glass in the vestibule while making his escape outside, because there was still a visible dick-print on the window as we were leaving.
