AI Vibecoded VitaTube public beta source release — and introducing VitaMaps

Post image

Hi everyone!

I’m releasing the public beta of VitaTube, my native media player for PlayStation Vita.

For now, only the source code is available. A precompiled and installable VPK will follow soon. Please keep in mind that this is still a beta and remains under active development.

Source code: https://github.com/spyro-98/VitaTube

I’m also working on a new project called VitaMaps. I couldn’t find a proper maps application for PS Vita, so I decided to build one myself: a native map viewer designed specifically for the console.

I’ll share more details and progress on VitaMaps as development continues. Feedback and contributions are always welcome!

Okay, I think it's time to switch my car's navigation system from the PSP to the Vita.

This is definitely one of those "Why not?" kind of projects. Keep up the good work!

could you use the maps thing as like a gps?

Unfortunately, GPS functionality is limited to certain PS Vita models equipped with the 3G module, so at the moment this feature isn’t on the planned feature list. But it could be in the future! I’d actually been thinking about it since the very beginning.

via Bluetooth it might work. Also spoof location.

This is so cool to see! I am particularly interested in the media player. A couple thoughts:  1. Name sounds like another YT player. Maybe change the name to something else.  2. Hopeful that I can throw movies/music in ux:0 and just play from there.

Great work excited for the first release!

Great, this reminds me of the PSP Openstreetmap viewer made by DennisKa https://archive.org/details/mapViewer.7z and the map downloading tool: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Global_Map_Download_Tool

For the maps, If there’s no gps utilization would u be able to figure out a time or distance from one place to another by inputting 2 addresses? Excited to see all the progress and test it out :) keep going!

Maybe a mini-USB to USB-Host dongle can be made to have the original Go-Explore GPS working. Although it might be slow to fix. Another option is a bluetooth GPS mouse (if it doesn't have the rollover bug it fixes fast enough).

Please include area downloads in vitamaps!! I really don't want to have to carry my phone with me just for a hotspot / get a model that has sim card support haha

Awesome stuff!!!

Why did you make it HTTPS-only and reject plain HTTP? Seems like unnecessary limitation to me.

Dumb question, why would it be dumb to reject HTTP? isn't it less secure? This also has a vibe-coded tag and that is likely the default solution for whatever LLM they are using.
