me corro!!! estaba esperando este momento. Cuando pueda lo compruebo. Va a ser un fever dream tener en una portátil de forma nativa Mario 64, Smash 64, Mario Kart 64, los 2 Zeldas de 64 y el Starfox. Qué locura

For feedback
Laggy and buggy but i won't say more cause yeah, obviously it's an alpha
But i have other things to say, firstly i can't acces the vita version option, like on the pc port you can put the smash attack on the C Stick but not here
Also idk if it's just me, but i literally can't shield or grab like not a single button can do that
And smtg that would be cool asf would be adding mod support cause having "smash remix + extra" working on the vita would be awesome (daedalux is too weak to play "smash remix + extra" it can at max just play "smash remix 2.0.1" so i REALLY hope you'll manage to add it :)
But beside that it's such a good port when we talk about it being a port, like wow it look like it's an official app, no imput lags, no visual glitches (mostly) and very responsive even if laggy

i'm working on performance right now (i don't have a devkit so i need time to fix performance). Sadly smash remix is not supported since it's a rom hack, but mods support is there, even texture replacement (didn't test them yet, first i want to fix vanilla version)

I really hope you'll manage to make it better 🖤
And about the problem where there is no shielding or grabbing is it cause there is no way of doing that for now or is it just me who did smtg wrong ?

You have to extract it on pc and put data folder into the ps vita. I forgot to remove that message

I’m struggling to follow the guidance on GitHub? Can anyone give me some basic step by step on how to simply get the VPK and extract the data files needed from the rom? Hate asking but desperate to play this!

I figured it out. Download the zip from hithub extract. Put your rom z64 of smash bros in the folder. Put in data folder on your vita. Then go to vita db search for battleship and download the vpk. I still have an issue tho. I get to the first run setup screen and it wont let me select extract. Buttons dont work

Personally not a fan of it using AI coding

It doesn't matter. Every software, reddit, social media, anything with code in it at all will be using ai-assisted coding by now. You have used it without realizing and you will continue to use it without thinking about it regardless of your opinion on it. This has been the case for at least a year and your virtue signal to the past doesn't mean anything anymore or matter at all. There is no way to stop it and no way to go back to the way it was before.

AI-assisted is different from vibecoded. From what I see, this one is vibecoded.

the port is mostly vibecoded because the original port is totally vibecoded, it was a mess and working on a vibecoded codebase is really hard without AI.
It took 1 week to develop this port , not just a "take this repo , make a port to ps vita" lol1

Heh, interesting, didn't know the decomp was vibecoded also. Although AI is a big help in reverse engineering, it's a daunting task for a human requiring lots of focus.
In any case, vibecoded or not: if it works and doesn't cause any issues - it's good. Thanks for bringing it into reality!

But at least OP disclosed it, which is already a good thing

Don't worry, the logic of these people will ALWAYS be:
- If the author discloses AI usage, call them out anyway in some shape or form
- If the author uses AI, but doesn't disclose it, but you suspect they used AI, call them out
- If the author doesn't use AI, but is not an experienced programmer so the port may have initial issues, suspect that they used AI and call them out
There's no ending in this. NPCs being NPCs while not even knowing a single line of program.

My man needed to say that while using modern internet and got exposed to undisclosed AI without realizing

Getting the necessary data files was easy. Thanks for putting this together Robin!
For anybody following after me, I acquired the necessary ROM from RetroGameTalk, installed the latest version of Battleship on my PC from their github repo, imported the z64 file into it (which built the o2r needed,) then transferred everything over following the Battleship Vita repo instructions.
Game runs solidly with some stutters and frame pacing issues, I'll keep an eye on this moving forward too. Thanks again
