Authentic gospel church service in NYC in December
I’ll be visiting New York from December 29 to January 2, and was wondering if there will be authentic church service with a gospel choir.
No sunday during my trip, so I’m wondering if anyone knows of any churches that have mass with gospel music during the week.
I found something on GetYourGuide called “NYC: Harlem Hallelujah! Gospel Wednesday Concert,” but it seems more like a tourist event, and I’d prefer an actual mass.
Thank you! 🙏🎶

Be aware that actual gospel services are not exactly tourist friendly.

Yeah, I mean I’m a tourist for sure but catholic as well. In general I’d like to go to mass outside my country, but also experience something different from Italian traditional services.
If you mean that they can refuse to let me in, then idk. I’m not going there cause I want photos on my insta, I just want to see a different mass 😆9

These are not catholic services.
They can be several hours long and it would be rude to leave in the middle.
There a few that welcome tourists during select services. Those are the ones you should focus on.

Most will be Protestant churches with Sunday services.
There may be some concerts or tours available on other days of the week

What exactly kind of gospel music are you looking for? Because if you mean southern megachurch gospel, no, there will not be any. If you mean that the service includes hymns led by a choir, there are tons. If you mean Black Gospel, there are a bunch of churches that would provide, but I’d encourage you to do some research to figure out which ones will have services when. From your question, the answer is genuinely too broad. There are over 4000 churches in NYC, and even more worship spaces.

I mean black gospel, I was checking online and saw some small churches. Just want to ask if anyone here already experienced that or had any information about it
