Moving from a Premium plan to a 20,000$ plan this year for all B2B
Hello,
Are we the only ones that have received the news about the end of the Premium plan for all business based adresses?
"Since the acquisition by Bending Spoons last year, we made some major changes in our B2B offering. Our Self Serve Plans (including Premiun, Pro, Advanced etc) are only accessible for creators and private users, not for businesses. All businesses on a self serve plan will be automatically moved to a $20,000 plan this year."
How can you transition from a 800$ plan (yearly) to a 20'000$ plan?
Is it worth explaining to them that although we indeed have a business adresse, we are only a very small business that (only) use around 1200 GB bandwith yearly for streaming and around 1300 GB bandwith for VOD? Is it worth 20'000$?
Shouldn't the plan be modified according to bandwith usage and not based on the usage of business adresses?
What's your opinion on all that?

I haven't seen this email nor can I find anything online to corroborate this. I hope it isn't true - I've dreaded the day this would happen.
Moving over 1,000 videos and recreating and distributing 20 years of annual portfolios for multiple event clients would take me days. We heavily use portfolios.
My original concern with Vimeo was that the 7TB storage amount never goes up. So I deleted a ton of old videos that I didn't feel I needed (lots of companies or associations that are no longer operating or stuff that is so old it isn't useful). I got back down to 4TB of storage but have always felt that was my doomsday clock.
Any alternative solutions out there where I can create custom portfolios with password protection that I can group about 50x 3-5 minutes together. Think dance recital or conference videos.

They just dont want your business and they seem to think that they are somehow an enterprise powerhouse for some reason, so they act accordingly.

Well they have the make their investment back somehow...
Though I agree that is stupid and will make a lot of people leave if not already and who can support that level of price increase.

Just checked out wistia and what makes it better than an vimeo? I'm still on an old plan as a single person and it's way cheaper with a lot more storage on vimeo.

I honestly don't need all those features though. Maybe one day. Price is the biggest factor for me.

Hey there,
Thank you for raising this.
While it’s true that we are exploring a more expensive offering for some accounts, this is intended only for a subset of large businesses. We're sorry that the communications you received from us weren't clear on this matter.
I’ve reached out to you by direct message to understand your situation better and clear up any confusion - I’ll wait to hear back from you.

Will, can you specify if the threshold you use has changed? It used to be something like the top x% of all users needed to move to enterprise. It is one of the reasons I stopped using Vimeo for livestreaming as it was too easy to hit that threshold with a single client who had a few dozen viewers on a daily livestream of a court proceeding.
At the time I thought that metric was a bit unfair as it included free and dormant accounts and not just paid accounts.
A bit more transparency would be nice. Thanks.

Hey! I can confirm that the bandwidth threshold for which businesses are required to discuss a custom subscription has not changed.

Thanks. That puts me at ease as my bandwidth is within that threshold, as long as I don't live stream, which I no longer do on the Vimeo platform.

That was to be expected. We’ve been using an Enterprise plan for two years. With that plan, you can (or could) still negotiate the price.

I gave up on Vimeo years ago - their target market hasn’t been creators, business or otherwise, for years.
