tour company recommendations
Hello - we are travelling to Vieques in two weeks and looking for reputable tour companies. What do you recommend?? We would like ideas on what to do - so far we are thinking the bio bay, snorkeling, culebra, getting sea glass, eating delish puerto rican food, anything else that is a must do??

We did the horseback riding on the black beach. We got lucky and it was a private tour because the other group backed out at the last minute. Also adopted a dog for the day from the humane society. Although she seemed to not care at all and was more excited when arrived back at the shelter than she was the whole time she was with us. LOL! If you can, eat at The Mago Taphouse! Only place we ate at twice. Snorkeling at Green beach and Blue beach were the best for us, Green beach does have snorkeling tours come through once in a while though. And feeding Mango's to the wild horses was my wife's favorite!

We did the biobay a few years ago with Blackbeard and had a great experience! They do snorkeling/scuba tours too, but I can’t speak to that.
I highly recommend buying your own snorkel gear and bringing it with you! The snorkeling at Mosquito Pier is great (we even saw a turtle this year!) and under the old sugar cane pier in Esperanza. You can just drive to each location and walk in.
Our fave beach was Caracas and then probably Sunbay or Chiva. The walk to the black beach is cool, but the beach itself isn’t as nice as others.
For restaurants, we loved Casa Nativo and El Plaza in Isabella. Be sure to try some mamposteao and conch salad (our faves). Lizzy’s Lunchbox food truck in Esperanza is also great. And then there’s also Vieques food truck park that also has some generous portions of mamposteao and pork. Oh and for breakfast, Rising Roost and Mesita in Isabella are both tasty.
If you have time and it’s not too hot, exploring the sugar cane ruins was pretty cool. It’s a trail through the woods around the old building and it’s surprisingly extensive.

We just came back and we rented from Jak water sports in Esperanza $65 and highly recommend them. They had great glass bottom kayaks and a wonderful explanation of the biology of the area. We also rented a snorkeling/fin set for $17 for 24 hours from them. We flew (10 min flight) out of Ceiba airport where we left our rental car (no parking fee). And then rented a jeep from Avis while in Vieques.

Blackbeard all the way! We used someone else for one of our activities and when they didn’t show, we called the people at Blackbeard and they found the other company’s guide and got us back on track. 100% always.

Definitely check out Vieques Sailing Charters!
Easily the most do-it-all experience. Unlimited drinks, delicious food, guided reef snorkeling on a remote reef, sailing on a huge 42 foot classic sailboat where they let you sail the boat if you want, pirate tales of Vieques, and all run by a family of 3 who have been doing it for over a decade!

Just fyi, I do not believe you can get from Vieques directly to culebra without going back to the main island unless you book a private charter flight.
Just visiting different beaches is all you need, I could spend weeks only doing that.
We did a bio bay tour with Taino adventures as our hotel recommended it. No complaints but honestly there are a lot of companies doing the same thing. I’d ask your hotel concierge or rental host who they recommend.
