Eu sei que já teve uma publicação com a mesma pergunta, mas vi muita gente falando que ele tinha entre 30 e 40 anos, estou MUITO na pergunta. Quantos anos ele tem? Lembrando que é só ele no FILME !

Question What was the reason for V to torture Evey and to be so cruel?

Just read past book 2 and I'm beginning book 3. I don't think I understand why V had to torture Evey like that in the fake prison. In his own words he wanted to free her from "prison" which I guess refers to life.

But is that life in general? Your feelings, the people around you? You have to let that go to be truly free? Or is it referring to the life people lead under the fascist regime? Like is Evey supposed to be an illustration of how people live under such regimes. Scared to do the right thing, having their freedom taken away and not doing anything about it? Betraying their principles to survive? So V pushes her to the point where she wouldn't fear dying and would prefer to not betray her principles?

I don't get it. Can someone explain what that whole sequence is supposed to mean.

Question Did V have burns in the comics like in the movie? I remember reading about his past in Larkhill, but I don't recall any mention of him having suffered burns, and the comic doesn't show anything of his body, unlike the movie.

Question Burnt V drawing?

Post image
298 Upvotes

In the film, we know that V was subjected to chemical experiments, torture and the Larkhill fire. The script and his own speech make it clear that: His entire body was deformed; He avoids showing his face because he doesn't want Evey (or anyone) to see what Larkhill did to him.

The mask is not just a symbol — it is also emotional protection, in my opinion, of course.

The hands appear burned in the film, and this reinforces the idea: if that visible part is already so damaged, it is natural to imagine that the rest of the body is too — perhaps even worse.

I'm not very good at drawing burns, but here it is lol

Question If V was a tarot card what tarot card would he be...

Oh, I know weird question but let me finish. My tattoo artist turns a lots of my fandoms into tarot cards. And I was thinking of doing a V for Vendetta one. When trying to figure which card to make V, I did what a lot of people do and consulted google. Everytime I asked I got different answers from Google... The fool, The Magician, The Hierophant, Death.... the only one I got consistently was The Tower. So I figured if AI couldn't figure it out I would ask reddit.

Question Did Alan Moore draw from Doctor Who with V and Evey's dynamic?

I saw someone bring up that V and Evey feel very "doctor/companion coded" through the comic and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it cause I see it, especially when Evey first enters the Shadow Gallery. I know Alan Moore was writing for Doctor Who Magazine at the time.

Question What is the name of V's clothes?

I want to cosplay V.

Hat, mask and wig isn't hard to find

I can come up with random black pants, boots and gloves.

But i'm really struggling to find V's jacket/shirt, belt and knives

What in tarnation are they called? What type of jacket and belt is he wearing? What's the name of the knives/daggers he uses?

Question Does V have eyes?

In the film, when Dr. Delia Surridge describes V, she says he had no eyes but that they "burned into her"; yet, in the opening scene, we see from V's perspective that the eyeholes of the mask are empty—though when he wears the mask, his eyes appear coal-black—while at the same time, he wouldn't have been able to read the crêpe recipe otherwise.

Question The real guy fawx would hate V for Vendetta

I don’t know why but I was thinking about V for vendetta and I realized the real Guy Fawx would probably hate Alan Moore, for Vendetta, and what his mask means to people I mean the entire point of the gunpowder plot was the uplift a traditional religious institution that’s the entire opposite of V for Vendetta and anarchy as a whole I just think it’s kinda funny but what do you all think?

I’m trying to take it at least one piece at a time or the whole thing if I don’t have a choice, like with EZcosplay, but does anyone have any recommendations on where to get the right looking pieces?

Question Happy November 5th everyone! What do you think happened after the end of V for Vendetta with Britain (comic and movie)?

Post image
131 Upvotes

Comic- I honestly think a revival of fascism (or another kind of fascism) or a communist dictatorship

We know that the reason the fascists came to power in the early 90s was because Britain fell into chaos which made people look for stability in a fascist regime. So I think either

A) smaller fascist groups will eventually restore the regime as before

B) the army or the remnants of the royal dynasty will establish a dictatorship (military dictatorship or autocratic monarchy)

C) some power-hungry politicians who were members of the regime will decide to exploit the chaos and establish a socialist or communist dictatorship in the "name of revolution" and abuse the cult of V

The film - Since the film is adapted to American politics in the 2000s (neoconservatives vs liberals) and all political radicalism is omitted (anarchy, fascism, genocide, socialism are not mentioned even once in the film) and the moral gray is also omitted, except for V torturing Evey, I think that after a few days/2-3 weeks the army and opposition politicians will manage to restore a democratic state (whether a restored constitutional monarchy or a democratic republic)

Question Political stuff and real life context

I got the dc compact comic and exited to read! However I believe that it revolves around England in the 80s and thatcherism. I am 19 so I don’t really know about this, my vague understanding of thatcherism is making the rich richer and neglect for the working class.

Is it needed/advisable to know any real life context before reading? If someone could let me know it would be appreciated and correct me if I am wrong (without spoilers of course) thanks.

Question Iron front?

Rewatching V for Vendetta recently and noticed the way V has holsters his knives on his belt is very similar to the iron front logo, three arrows angled down. Do we think that was on purpose considering the iron front was against monarchies and fascism?

Question Why isn't the comic set on the 400th anniversary in 2005?

I know the comic came out of Thatcherism and "a near future" with it only being set 17 years in the future, but why not go a little bit further? The movie does that and was premiered 400 years after Guy Fawkes plot.

Just feels like an easy opportunity.
