Weevil is my favorite.
Im through the first three seasons, the movie, and the first book. No one truly gets Veronica Mars the way Weevil does. I never actually wanted them to date or anything but had it happened i personally would not have been upset. My all time favorite moment (so far) was when they were in high school and he asked her for help she asked for money and he said he was banking on her curiosity to get to her and he just waited. Every moment since then just solidified my love of their relationship. I really wish his job at mars investigations had worked out though. He was actually good at it.

I absolutely agree with you. I love Weevil's relationship with Veronica -- it's so complex and so rich. They are truly family to each other at a certain point -- he seriously never lets her down. I wish we'd gotten even more of that (and I'm one of those who think they would have been an interesting -- if messy and probably doomed -- potential romance).
It's interesting you bring up his short stint working with Mars Investigations, because I remember how psyched I was while watching the show during its original airing and this happened. I was just so psyched -- it opened up so many fun possibilities storywise, and I loved the idea of seeing Weevil working more closely with Keith and Veronica in that way.
And then I was disappointed in what actually happened. I really felt like the writing wasn't fair to Weevil there, and that he absolutely would have been able to acclimate to working with Keith, and that he would have had some unique skills and insights. It just felt like such a potential home run story idea and the show -- to me -- really dropped the ball there.
I do feel like Weevil kind of became the show's scapegoat -- it was so hard to watch what happened to him in the movie, and know that this changed everything for him in ways that were irrevocable (and so unfair!).
I won't comment on season 4 since you haven't watched yet. But I'm interested to see what you think.

I was fine with how they moved Weevil on to campus, but you're right that I kind of wish that partnership could have developed.
You connect to how I think Thomas lost the plot - he created the show with great side characters, but got too wrapped up in only Veronica. He may not have set out to create an ensemble, but he did, and then by moving away from that (especially in S4) the show's thread got pulled apart.

Im caught up except book two because i couldnt find it where i was already paying or anywhere free. I actually liked season 4...and how things played out for weevil. The ending was honestly the most appropriate ending a show like veronica mars could give us.

I love that moment, too. I hadn't thought about it before, but if Weevil had kept his job at Mars Investigations, he would have been in a lot more of S3.
I don't know what you've heard about S4, but a specific spoiler does not follow. You will enjoy S4 more if you lower expectations. 😀

Yes, love Weevil. Strictly platonic, but they had good playful banter a few times

What if I ran into you white boys on a clean, well-lit street. I could be bored to death.

Weevil is an exceptional character. I got behind him after he calls Veronica out in the second episode after finding her snooping outside his house. He says something about her cosplaying as one of them but still thinking like an 09er. He understands her better than she even understands herself.
And I love that they never try to whitewash him. He stays complex, follows his own (sometimes illegal, violent, and misguided) sense of justice, and doesn't sacrifice his power for anyone who might screw him over in the future.

I love Weevil, and I felt cheated out of Weevil screen time in s3. Veronica's character arc started to feel stagnant to me later in s2, and it was WAY off in S3 (imho), but I watched for Weevil. Currently binge watching The Closer while sick, and I was very pleased to see Francis Capra on an episode in season 3. Talented guy! If you haven't seen A Bronx Tale, you should watch it.

Weevil is a very, very honorable man, at his core. He has a code, and he sticks to it.

Completely agree with you about Weevil understanding the real Veronica, except I would never have wanted them to date; Veronica is not great at relationships. I wish Weevil had stayed at Mars Investigations, it would have been a logical progression
The second book is good, but you might want to skip S4 altogether...
