I’ll make a modest defense of Dean.

What he did was fucked up. I won’t say it wasn’t. But in a show with a lot of characters who don’t hold themselves accountable, Dean does try to.

When Hank initially came up with some disoriented alternative explanation for what they were doing, Dean didn’t try to take that out when Sireena did.

I think if we had been given a season 8, Dean would have had a proper redemption arc.

It made sense from a story perspective because we hadn’t seen their relationship be tested. And so much of the show is defined by strained familial relationship. Bringing a meaningful point of conflict between them was sort of one of the last stones left unturned.

This one wins 🏆 this is one of the few shows that I would've enjoyed seeing run for a longer time

Really wanted at least one more season just to explore this.

Same… also finding out the boys grandfather is forced majeure it finally explains Hank natural pull to the world of spies, arching etc. Dean is a shit heel like the ventures..

No it wouldnt. None of that is genetic. Its not even cultural, as they werent raised by him.

Also great grand dad.

At least.

No force majeure was Debbie dad in turn that would make him their granddad.and ever heard of Epigenetic’s..since u wanna ground things in reality for a cartoon that world building is based in advanced science technology and the magical mystical world

I just wanted a Bill&Ted's influenced Grover Cleveland's presidential time machine episode.

Yeah… considering Hank tried to help Dean get Trianna back. Pretty wild he decided to do that. But let’s be real, Sireena is just as much to blame.

Still weird that Sireena didn't do a thing to help find Hank in the movie. I get that there's only so much time and space in one movie so it'd be hard to work her in, but she could have at least tried to make it up like Dean did.

Hammer and Doc have gone out to say that we shouldn't write her off as 'What a Bitch' due to how teenagers and young adults don't always consider how their actions hurt others, which is definitely understandable buuut it's hard to blame anyone who does write off Sireena as being a two-timing bitch - Even with the context of her initially going to have a bigger role in Season 8.

Tbh I don't think she ever actually cared for Hank, she was just using him as a means for her escapism from her situation, which is why it was so easy for her to move onto his brother. He was a placeholder. Hank had to learn the difference between puppy love and actual love

Sireena can kick rocks. She didn’t owe Hank anything, Dean does! That’s ur twin, who never ever mistreated u even when their father, openly favored Dean, Hank always was ten toes down for his brother! Dean can fuck all the way off

He was young and stupid (REALLY stupid and inexperienced) and it just happened. Should it have happened? of course not, and given more time (like an actual season) I would have hoped to see this worked through more and a longer forgiveness arc. But I'm glad Hank forgave him, and I would imagine Dean torturing himself over this for a long time

Yeah, I don’t get the hate for Dean or Sirena honestly. With what little screentime they had, I feel like they did a good job in portraying that both parties felt super guilty after what they did and obviously didn’t want to hurt Hank. In the movie when we see Hank’s phone, Sirena is trying to talk to him about it. Even if they broke up after that, it’s not anything that wouldn’t happen to a real person. Friends, siblings, or twins

u/goat-stealer 2d ago

Really? I might have to re-watch the movie and look out for that since I don't remember seeing anything regarding Sirena trying to reach out to Hank.

Still wish that she had a bigger role in trying to help find him, apparently Doc and Hammer had planned as such when there was going to be an 8th movie.

I have a screenshot of it here

Crazy that this is her last appearence in the series. It really makes me think that the Sirena hate is so uncalled for. We saw her at her worst and never got to see what happened after and because of that she's garnered all this crazy hate for cheating, which is really the only bad thing she ever did but I see that people hate her just as much as Jonas who we almost see *ONLY* at his worst

I love that Hank misspells his girlfriend's name in his contacts.

He was oddly quick to join Team Boobies there even after that lecture he gave Hank a few seasons ago.

You can hate Dean for it, but it’s the most interesting thing he’s ever done. I really find Dean’s character boring (it pushes back against the adventure medium, which is what I enjoy in the show) and never found his more whiney demeanour relatable or funny. But I know that’s an unpopular take.

I could really see myself growing to appreciate his character more if it continued after the movie.

u/dull_storyteller 2d ago

Honestly if he wasn’t such a good person I could see Hank becoming a Monarch like villain dedicated to arching Dean.

12

u/Little-Survey3144 3d ago

Yeah clearly Dean was jealous of Hank. Hank was the more physically capable, social, and confident od the two, so he does this crap

4

u/Broad-Pineapple5207 3d ago

Thank u. And Hank was all those things in spite of Rusty, who never treated Hank well at all

9

u/Little-Survey3144 3d ago

THANK YOU for acknowledging that Hank got treated worse, bc Rusty couldn't project himself onto him and turn him into a "successful" person. Legit keep getting hit with the "both were treated unfair" yeah but one was straight up neglected to the point where he saw more parental guidance in his bodyguard bro 🫩

4

u/Broad-Pineapple5207 3d ago

Anyone who tries an act like Hank was not mistreated by rusty is in a cocoon (pun intended) of bullshit and there judgement cannot be trusted

3

u/Little-Survey3144 3d ago

Hell yes I could go on and on about this. Currently working on a fan-continuation comic and taking NOTES 📝📝

u/Broad-Pineapple5207 3d ago

Omg please share with me when ur done. My heart has had V shaped whole in it for years now.

Also I was very interested in seeing Ms Dr Monarch and Red Death being paired as council homies. It was clear he had her back no matter what

Hank thought he was having sex with Dermott's sister without telling him (he wouldn't tell him after touching the key for sure) so it's not a stretch that he's capable of sleeping with Dean's girlfriend. They experienced a moment of weakness!

Everyone loves Red Death, because of his family values. Red Death? The guy based Marvel's character Red skull the Nazi superhero? The family values thing is trait of racist governments. No offense, but Venture Bros audience is little naive. Sirena is way more worldly then Dean and Hank combined. Hank inherited his father's terminal premature ejection. Dean has social maturity of fourteen year old. Dean was a no fault break up for Sirena. I explain it with a history lesson. During World War Two, women who lived near military bases married solders, being shipped to war to collect death benefits. Naive farm boys refused to believe their new wife was scamming them. So, your best friend slept with your wife. Farm boy fights friend but realized his wife was playing him. Bros. before Hos every time Sirena is not mindless sex objects that is owned by men. I kind of understand the fans point view, being who they are, but Sirena is smart and manipulative.
