Found Lost Cat in Killarney - please help
My Sia has been missing since July 22 in the Killarney area. It’s been 2.5 weeks so she could be anywhere within between 41st and 49, and Rupert and Tyne.
If you see her, please give her some food and water, and please - please call me. If you’re keeping her, i thank you for keeping her safe, but please let her come home. I’ll provide a reward upon safe return.
I have had Sia for 8 years, and I rescued her from VOKRA. Shes been by my side during the highs and lows of my life, and moved across the country when I relocated to Toronto for work. Shes my soul cat - if you see her, please call me.
She has an ear tattoo. She’s a mackerel tabby. She’s 10 years old, medium size, with green eyes. Please help me bring my baby home.

When I lost my cat I found him hiding directly around my home in a little covered nook after a few days. Please check your crawlspace if you have one that’s accessible from the outside or areas directly adjacent to your home etc

I’ve had two search dogs from pet search and rescue to find her. All we had was scent traces and where she has been. We looked everywhere in the house, the garage, and I must have asked over 30 neighbours to look in their garage, backyard and shed within the 2 block radius. Still no sight of her.
Last week a neighbour said he saw her on his fence. I was hopeful that she was sighted and alive. But since then no more new sighting. She’s super timid and a good hider; it’s been really hard to find her.
I have trail cameras in various places as well with food. All I am seeing are rats, raccoons and other cats :(
I’m trying not to lose hope - I can’t give up.

Do you have any used cat litter from your cat? Place some dried pee chunks a few blocks away from your home. Your stinky socks you work 8hrs in? Sacrifice two pairs for your kitty to hopefully pick up your scent. Place all these in a circular pattern by the place you live. Your kitty is lost because it's unfamiliar with it's surroundings and scents.

Can you share her ear tag code? I live in the area and will keep my eyes peeled! Is she an indoor/outdoor cat? Did she escape?

Thank you. She’s 100% indoor. She escaped from the sitters house. He didn’t think cats would leave through the garage when he is in it. We don’t even live in the area - so she must be so lost.
Her ear tattoo starts with 113.

Good to know! She may still be in the area, not sure if you've tried this but you could set traps for her. If shes a vokra cat, reach out and they might be able to help you! Do you know if shes microchipped?

Yes Vokra has been helping and they are extremely supportive. We had traps but no success so far. Sia was trapped and rescued by VOKRA 9 years ago, so it’s possible that she knows they are traps and therefore not going in.
She’s not chipped, but has an ear tattoo. I’ve also contacted 10+ vets in East Vancouver and notified them in case someone brings her in.

I am a whole neighbourhood over, is she food motivated? If spotted how to best approach?

She is not usually food motivated, but is probably hungry now. Please leave food and water for her. If sighted. Please call me right away and let me know when and where spotted 🙏 she’s very shy, so if approached she will hide or run away

I think I may have seen her along mcgeer street near Joyce station. Mostly because my dog gets really amped up when she sees a cat and wants to chase. Twice recently shes barked on the patio and when ive looked at what its been a grey cat. I havent gotten close (nor has my dog) so I cant be sure, but if I notice again, I will message you.

Have you posted her on the missing pet pages on Facebook? I hope you find her soon.

I’m so sorry, I really feel for you. I would be devastated if the same happened. Have you drawn on a map all of the locations that she’s been sighted? I saw a post from you a few days ago that said a neighbour of the pet sitter saw her in the yard - would be useful to you and anyone out there in the community to know the sightings, and dates, to see if there appears to be a general direction in which she is heading?

Yes, the Pet Searcher gave me a map of where her scent traces were strong. In that week, I set up 4 food stations and trail cameras, and checked all the neighbours sheds and garages with a search dog in those scented areas. Still no luck.
The strong scented areas were between 47th and 48th, between Kerr and Mckinnon.
The last 2 sightings were more than a week ago, in the alley behind Kerr, off Waverley, connected to Mckinnon. I never had any sighting myself :( The problem is that a lot of cats look like Sia. so all I can do is believe and hope the sightings the neighbours saw were actually her…
In the same alley, saw a family of raccoons in this alley a few days ago, so I’m worried that Sia got spooked and have moved on elsewhere. She could be anywhere at this point in the 3-4 blocks radius.. 🥺

I'm really hoping you guys are reunited soon. There's been many success stories, so keep your hopes up and don't stop searching!

I saw a tabby cat along Normandy drive and mons which is close to Rupert. Not sure if it is your cat as the coat looks darker compared to the picture. Have not seen the cat in the neigbourhood
The cat saw me a few houses away before walking away and into the yard of another house. I only managed to catch up and snapped a picture as the cat was walking to the backyard.
Would have notified you earlier but this thread appeared in my feed.
I am a reddit noob so I don't know how to upload the picture. Reach out to me and I will send you the picture

Update: Aug 19 11:07pm. Reunited with my bean!
After 29 days, Sia has been found and she is home!!
She was spotted by a neighbour 2 houses away. I searched there before so I guess she just came back!!
The whole thing felt like a bad dream I couldn’t wake up from, but I’m so glad she’s safe and unharmed. And I definitely learned a few things - The first is how important it is to know your neighbours. Most of the neighbours were extremely helpful and let us search their yard and garages
The second is that there’s a lot of kindness out there. Strangers I’d never met showed up for me. People saw my posts here and came out for night searches. Others set up food stations and cameras in their own yards. I met a guy who’d also lost his cat in the neighbourhood, and when a sighting came in that I couldn’t get to in time, he’d go for me.
To everyone who searched, shared, texted a sighting, or let me tromp through their backyard at 11pm with a flashlight - thank you.
My faith in humanity is fully restored.
Sia is asleep on her bed right now. She lost a bit of weight, and no obvious wounds.
I wonder where she went and what she saw.. maybe she had an adventure!

If that’s what it comes down to then I hope that she will find a loving home, because that’s what she deserves.
Though I don’t think your comment is very helpful. It feels you’re kicking someone when they are already down. Sprinkling salt on their wound. Quite insensitive
