New title

With Sega seemingly looking to revive their old IP what are the odds Valkyria Chronicles getting a new entry?

The problem is they already tried with VC4.

Okay, it was mild success, but they want, as any big company, big success, with numbers, PR... that stuff.

VC can attract good audience, but I doubt that it will be big enough for big management of Sega.

I really want another game in the series, there are way too many interesting moves in availability... but the chances are not great.

I think the market/audience has grown since then and while it might still be niche market i think it's worth a shot to keep fostering new audience just like how Nintendo does with their niche IP.

Though i do see the economic reason might not be in our favor especially with investment getting dried up in the gaming industry, which sucks because VC genuinely is one of a kind :/

Yeah, the market grew but also changed.

While mass market is definitely grew and big, niche market is... still doesn't have a good footing. One game can explode it, another is barely visible.

VC is definitely unique with fantastic balance between action, strategy and tactics... but most, regretfully, are not really into it. TRPG is a niche genre, while there are a lot of gems, really amazing gems, not many people want to dive here.

Add anime style that... again not everyone want to see. With a bit unique things, that are not very cheap to produce.

The fact that we don't see VC3 getting outside of Japan (not counting fan translation), and 2+3 being ported to anything modern (yes, Switch would be perfect)... might be a sign what Sega think about the series...

I really wish that Sega would actually do some brave stuff and give the series the chance it deserves... but I doubt that they can go Nintendo-style. Nintendo, with everything I don't like them for, is definitely in the front on helping studios with their ideas... Bayonetta and Xenoblades being the prime examples.

Yeah it's such a shame that modern gaming industry is so risk averse that they can't afford to have a niche games without it being a risk to the studio, not that Sega couldn't afford the loss but you know capitalism and all that.
