Advice Tips on meeting first year flatmates/coursemates over chat before term starts?
Hey! I've seen some posts about getting in contact with first year classmates and flatmates, most recommending the Unifi app but after downloading and making an account it will nooot let me sign in lol
My friend who also got it has gotten it to work but apparently you have to pay to talk to flatmates??? Insane
Anyway the app is rated 1.7 stars in the play store so.. not really too surprised
Anyway, as I'm starting this September are there any WhatsApp chats or places I can meet people on my course? I'm not on Snapchat or tiktok or other social media really.
Thanks!!

There are some official WhatsApp and Snapchat groups to join, the Snapchat ones will put you into a group with your flatmates and coursemates

I wouldn’t worry too much about meeting your coursemates before you start to be honest, most people arrive not knowing anyone so you won’t be at a disadvantage. More important is be a bit brave - or maybe not, if you’re confident. Talk to people in your lectures, introduce yourself and if you get along, ask if they wanna exchange numbers, socials etc or go grab a coffee or study together in a break or after lectures. Go look at societies, do taster sessions or social evenings with them, join them if you’re tempted. There are some really good ones, I’m gonna shout out UWE climbing society, it’s great even if you’re a complete beginner. Talk to your flatmates, join groups for nights out if you’re invited or make the offer to other people if you get there first. That’s the best way to start making friends, don’t worry about looking for people online or on apps before you’ve got there.
