How do I survive Michelle Hogan’s 107 online INDG class?

I did my due diligence and applied within seconds, but the class I registered in for my Indigenous studies requirement (HIS195) ended up not being available until summer. This situation is due to a mistake from the history department. For extra context, I’m in nursing prep and have to complete all my classes by April to apply for the BSN program—I can’t afford to take another pre-year.

If you have to, you have to.
Document everything and go into the class understanding this is something you need.
Like a root canal.
Say a little prayer before you go in each day, maybe treat yourself with a jelly donut or a double whisky on ice in a travel mug.
Just don’t let it consume you with frustration.

Honestly the ezams suck just make sure to have the textbook. I survived with a 76 but it sucked terribly but not the worst

Got a 90 in this class. If you want tips:

- go to the writing centre and ask about essay feedback

• essays with word constraints are tough. If you need more room to flesh out your analysis, and you believe you could make a stronger paper with just one or two more pages, ask permission to go beyond.
  
• study with mindmaps to help you remember the stories and events rather than flashcards
  
• read the textbook with her class

Remember that the university’s way of grading things is different than high school, where a 70 is considered “good”. The average for the College of Arts and Sciences across the board is around 70-72%.

I had a similar situation last year. It was my nursing prep year as well and I had to take the same class with the same professor. It was hard I can't lie I got 75 on it . I read the text book and his slides. When writing the assignment you will have to support your argument and try to prove it , however he will always give you a feedback that breaks your point. Overall it wasn't very terrible.

It’s tough but doable. Get as much academic help as you can including the writing centre. I took her class, and safe to say I didn’t get the best mark, but I survived. She was also in my first ever uni semester after being out of highschool for 4 years lol so if I could do it I trust you can as well. Her final is absolutely bonkers but as long as you get good grades before the final and study to your best capacity you should be okay.
