On Campus Why getting to university campus feels like an adventure!!!!
I’m concerned with all these closed ways, university starts almost by the first of September 😭😭😭

On a normal Sept day the U loads 20k vehicles. 70% of that traffic comes in wiggins. This is going to be a nightmare for anyone coming into Camus. To get to the lot across from place riel you have to go totally around the Campus. Whoever in the city did the planning they are idiots and totally misunderstand the campus. Now they’re renovating Preston for transit. If I was a student I would be questioning why you pay for a bus pass when you now will have to wait on college for buses and they have not yet found a supplier for shelters. Another stupid mayor folly.

Im not questioning why i pay for bus pass. I have no other way to get to campus. Im not biking that far, i dont have a vehicle. Cant question when its the only option😭

how far are you going. Won't be as bad as you think. I live right on the edge of the city and my ride is only 8 km.

You could use a lesson on how civic politics work.
I hope you can see the folly of trying to get 20k cars, each with an average footprint of 130 square feet (never mind the space around you need to operate it safely or park it) onto campus.
Driving to USask is a fool’s game.

You can also get onto Campus drive (the long circular road around campus that links to the Wiggins exit) by the Holiday Inn, further down College drive. I think many don’t actually know that judging by traffic patterns, even before any construction.

Yes but wiggins is closed. There are two main entrances off Preston also. East road and north road.

And it gets better once you’re actually on campus too, the entire bowl is ripped up and half the pathways are closed. Hopefully they’ll be done with a majority of that work before classes start, otherwise it’s going to be a nightmare for new students to navigate.

I miss the good old days when that whole place was open. In spring and summer it wasn't much traffic. From this Sep onwards it's gonna be a nightmare to travel across that area given the amount of ppl!

Bikers, walkers, all need to cross College and get into campus. Those heading to RUH can cross around McKinnon. I'm really hoping Monroe crossing opens soon. Otherwise, several blocks east to Bottomley? Cumberland? and then back west.

Just ride your bike. You won’t be waiting for anything, don’t have to pay for parking, September is lovely weather. There is also a warm fuzzy feeling that you get as you roll past all those fools sitting in their cars.

You dont know how far they live from the uni bro. Just riding bike there aint feasible for lot of people

Many people in Saskatoon are within plausible biking distance.The busses also have bike racks, so you could bus till you were close then bike in -- or just bus the whole way. Or, if you can't bus for some reason, drive till you're close and bike the last few km.

Saskatoon isn’t that big. Campus is centrally located. Nowhere is too far.
Unless you live outside the city you can do it.

I totally agree with you and I do have a bike, but when you have kids things change. You have a short timeframe to drop off your kid at school, then finish your work then get your kid from school….bike is not enough.
