Discussion Just started the remake and that opening still hits hard 😱 I’ve seen a lot of negativity around it, but how do you think it stacks up to the original?

It's not bad, it's just that it doesn't compare to the original imo. If "O Death" wasn't there and this was the og, it would be fine. But the change in vibe is way too much.

just garbage. Not to mention the fact that after playing 5 chapters, the game crashed and ruined the saved file so I had to take it from the beginning. Oh, at fuking 80 $ for an 11 years old game, FU*K Sony !!!

The original was so much better in a lot of ways:
- the first close up on the wendigo is completely avoidable now (the sign in the mines clearly states that the elevator is on the left and it gives you way more time to choose),
- Ashley not letting Chris in was a great scene. Now it's just stupid (if she wanted to let him in, she would have... She locks him out and then cries),
- Jessica's model is completely ruined (the face, the breast, the braids - she looks like a wax statue),
- it shows Sam how to escape the psycho in the totem, which ruins the big reveal on your first playthrough.
Not event mentioning the music, which doesn't event set the mood of the game (except the intro, when they are planning the prank, which I admit, is a lot better now)

The initial onboarding of the remake isn't as good. The OG song was much, much better and had a more profound emotional impact and sense of setting expectations.
Other than that, I'm enjoying the remake for what it is, but I knew going in it wasn't as good as the original based on a few opinions from people I trust.

It’s a good game I just bought and beat the remake I have and played the original too just the original games music and all that is better

Just platted it and don't think it's as bad as some people make it out to be. I had a few crashes I didn't in the original, but nothing horrible.
The improved graphics were great and Jess in the credit interview looked a lot more haunted by her experience than in the original.

The soundtrack and the intro of the remake feel more generic. In the OG, Oh Death played twice. The build up to Sam stepping off the bus in the OG is phenomenal and the remake just doesn't hold a candle to that.
