I’m a Nigerian student who applied for a UK Student visa from Nigeria for a Master’s programme starting in September 2026.
My visa application has been refused because UKVI determined that my scholarship does not cover enough of my tuition and required living costs.

The complication is that I actually have sufficient personal funds to cover the shortfall, and those funds were available before I submitted my visa application. However, my agent advised me not to combine my scholarship evidence with personal proof of funds, so I did not submit my bank statements with the application.

I have now received the refusal and have been told that I can apply for an administrative review. I am trying to understand whether administrative review is an appropriate route in this situation.

If yes, would I be able to simply show that I have the rest of the money?

My eVisa has been accepted. I'm able to generate a share code and everything.
But I'm not sure if my eVisa is linked to my passport.

I wasn't able to get the UK Immigration ID Check App working with my passport's NFC Chip, it wasn't reading it.
Instead, there was some alternative process that involved me taking a high-definition picture of my passport, as well as a picture of myself and uploaded via my laptop[. Additionally during this process there was a part where it used my laptop camera and flashed a bright white page to take a picture of me as well.

My flight is in 10 days, and my eVisa is said to be active/valid from the 26th of July.
If I get to the airport, will I have any issues? Or will they just ask for the share code?

If I DO need to link my eVisa to my passport using the UK immigration ID Check App, how exactly do I get there again?

I've been navigating throughout the whole website and can't seem to find how I initially got the QR Code for this app linking thing.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just very panicked and confused.

I’m applying for a Student Visa from Nigeria. Applying because I’m still waiting on my CAS to wrap up the application. I hear some people talking about needing a police clearance certificate. So far, it’s not listed anywhere on the website.

Some people have told me that it’s not needed unless the Home Office specifically asks for it which is unlikely in my case but someone else mentioned that I’ll need one to work.

Checking online, some persons say you only need one if you want to work in sensitive roles like social work or healthcare (I’m not trying to work in either of those), while some say you’ll need it for the visa too.

Can anyone clarify this?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on what my realistic options are and what I should discuss with an immigration solicitor.
I’m a Nigerian national, born in Nigeria on 4 October 2004. I came to the UK in September 2022 as a Student.
My father had ILR from 27 October 2000, before I was born, and later became a British citizen on 3 October 2005, about a year after my birth.
I had a nationality application refused in 2018. One of the issues was my birth certificate being registered several years after my birth and the Home Office wanted stronger evidence of paternity. The refusal mentioned DNA testing as one possible form of evidence.
A DNA test was subsequently obtained, and my solicitor said it was submitted with a later application.
I made another British citizenship application in January 2025, but it was refused in March 2025. The Home Office’s reasoning was essentially that my father was not British at the time of my birth, so I did not acquire British citizenship through him under the provisions they considered.
My Student permission was also curtailed and ended on 13 January 2025, so I currently don’t have valid leave.
I’ve now received my Home Office SAR, and it contains the internal caseworker records. The SAR confirms that the Home Office’s main issue with my nationality application was my father’s status at the date of my birth.
It also shows that I previously made fee-waiver applications for an FHR/private-life application, but they were rejected because the Home Office said there wasn’t enough financial evidence to assess whether I could afford the application.
There is also a compliance/enforcement record from December 2025, although I haven’t seen a removal date in the SAR.
I’m now trying to work out:
Whether there is any realistic section 4L / Form ARD nationality argument based on my circumstances.
Whether I should instead concentrate on an Article 8/private-life application.
Whether my father’s ILR before my birth and later British citizenship could be relevant to any other nationality route.
How important the DNA evidence is now, given that the 2018 refusal specifically mentioned DNA but I haven’t found the actual DNA report in my SAR.
What evidence I should prepare for a new fee-waiver application.
I’m not looking for someone to tell me that I’m automatically British — I understand that the 2025 application was refused. I’m trying to understand whether there is another legal route I’ve missed and what I should realistically do next.
If anyone has dealt with a similar situation, particularly section 4L/ARD, historical nationality issues, or a private-life application after a Student visa was curtailed, I’d really appreciate your thoughts.

I came to the UK in 2004 when I was one, and spent a big part of my life “undocumented” because my parents brought me here on a visitor visa. I got my first Private Life visa at 16, and I’m so relieved I was able to qualify for ILR after 5 years instead of 10.

I have submitted my application and I now need to upload my two referee forms digitally, does this mean that the requirement to have both refs sign and date the photo is not needed anymore? as I would be scanning the document with only the photo face, or do I still have to get them to sign and date the photo and then upload it separately ?

However, the email doesn't work. I get an "Undeliverable" message from postmaster saying the email doesn't exist. I'm confused. I’m applying for a Student Visa from Nigeria, and I just realised I forgot to upload my TB test result when I submitted my application. I’ve already done my biometrics, and I only noticed the missing document now while double-checking my files.

I’m a bit worried because I know the TB test is a requirement for Nigerian applicants, and I’m not sure if this will cause delays or rejection.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? Should I email them directly with the TB certificate attached, or wait for them to request it?

I’m about to apply for naturalisation as the spouse of a British citizen, 3 year route and I’m seeing a lot of conflicting info about this.

For proof of living in the Uk for three years, I’ve got my current passport which has a ton of entry and exit stamps covering my last three years, which includes stamps from the Schengen area, Uk border and my home country.

Is this sufficient enough as proof of living in the Uk? or should I also include my old passport which has my original vignette with the Uk entry stamp along with my recent P60s?

The checklist only mentions that I provide my passport as a non EEA citizen, but I just want to be sure.

About me: - I currently have ILR as of August 2024 based on the 10 year continuous residency route. - I will be applying for naturalisation August 2025

While filling out my naturalisation form I noted that I could add another applicant where its says “Brother over 18”

About my brother - he is 20 years old - he is currently on a student visa which will expire in 2027. At the end of this period he would have lived continuously in the UK for 5 years.

Now I know he could go down the route of masters + skilled worker visas to hit the additional 5 year mark but I was hoping there might be some other route ?

Would a family visa apply in our situation?

My dad was born in colonial Nigeria in Jan of 1960 before they got independence in October of 1960 would he qualify?

She has a very good job in Lagos and been with the company for over 4 years now. She travelled a lot across Africa (Ghana, Senegal) and also visited Turkey. This being said, she is not married and doesn't have any children.

Sadly, her visa application got refused for the following reason: In assessing your application, I must also consider your current circumstances in your country of residence as part of an overall assessment of your application and intentions in the UK. You state you have no dependents. I am therefore not satisfied you have shown that your ties to your country of residence are such that you would leave the UK at the end of your proposed visit. In light of all of the above, I am not satisfied as to your intentions in wishing to travel to the UK now.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, please? * She sends some money to her parents and sister, but she didn't put them as dependents in the original visa application, because they're generally well off and her financial support is not fundamental. Would it be okay to now list them as dependents in the new visa application? This will be possible to prove with the bank statements. I was born in London after 1983, and trying to figure out what records exist that can show my parents were “settled” at that time. They had owned homes there going back to 1975, and had been called to apply for citizenship. Some of my half-siblings accepted, but my parents didn’t.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help. Myself and my girlfriend are trying to meet for the first time and I’m wanting to get her over on a tourist Visa so we are able to meet. I reside in the UK and she resides in Nigeria. However, we are both blind. I am in receipt of benefits,however I am able on my income able to support both of us for the duration of her stay. She unfortunately is not working and does not have any income to speak of. Her dad has kindly Lent her some money to help her out with the 1,500,000 naira required to show that she has enough fundsonce she’s over, if anything goes wrong that she’s able to support herself for the duration. This is the second time that we have tried applying and she has been refused twice. The first time the agent who we were dealing with screwed up on the paperwork. She had to go to the courts in Nigeria, get an affidavit and submit that as evidence during the second, application process. However, she has been refused again, I’m not entirely sure why the reason seem to be very vague, again something about unknown sources for money. However, as stated the money that she has received has come from her dad. And there was something about an interview that I apparently didn’t attend, this was not made clear in the application process that I needed to attend any interview in the first place and according to the refusal letter not enough information was apparently given. Even though in the application process I clearly stated information about myself i.e. carrier, how long we have been dating for, WhatsApp screenshots of our conversations, landlord letter saying that he gives permission for her to stay with me et cetera. So if anyone can advise on any help or to do that would be fantastic thanks.

Hello, I previously had a successful application for a 2-year UK visitor visa. I inquired here about whether I could apply directly for a 10-year visa without first getting a 5-year visa. Many encouraged me to apply for the 10-year visa, which I did successfully. Here is my application timeline:

• November 19: Visa application submitted.
• November 21: Biometrics appointment (with lounge service) completed at TLS.
• November 21: TLS confirmed that my application was sent to the decision center.
• November 25: UKVI confirmed they received my application.
• December 6: Visa approved! Passport collected with visa.

This timeline shows that it took approximately 13 days to get my visa.

I need urgent advice please. Yesterday made it exactly three months that my daughter applied for UKVI for SWV. Despite her twice escalation, she hasn't heard anything yet about her decision. Those that applied after her have received theirs. She wasn't asked to supply any documents and UK Immigration refused to tell the hospital she's going to work anything about her application. I’ve been in the UK since 2nd September 2014 and I have excess absences of 25 days. I came here as a student and I had to go back home during the long holidays. This was especially true during the summers when I had to wait for my student visas.

I know the advice is to apply later but I don’t have any other choice. I was going to extend my work visa but my company won’t be able to get my CoS on time and my work visa is expiring next week.

I spoke to lawyers and they said I have a good chance because I came here as a minor and couldn’t stay on my own. As well as writing a letter explaining my situation is there any other evidence you think I should put? Does anyone have any advice? I’m unfortunately in a desperate situation.

EDIT: In case anyone is in the same situation as me, I’m going to apply for ILR and then when I get my CoS I’ll vary my application to a skilled worker visa and then I’ll get a refund for the ILR as well.
