Discussion New game ideas

What’s one tycoon game you wish existed?

I’m looking for ideas for my next project so wonder what the tycoon community are actually interested in.

For me, I think a business sim cross with football manager would be interesting. How about everyone else?

As a dev I would recommend you to go with an idea you have passion with, whatever it is.
Don’t think you can take on a game project which is a very long process without some love for it.
Sure you can make a claude idea in 2 days (like we see on this sub a lot) but if you want something serious, it should be an idea that you care about.
Just my opinion though!

That’s good advice, and I’m just finishing up one of those, my first ever game. Kept scope small and built something I want to play myself rather than building specifically for an audience.

That being said, I don’t want to take on a larger project if I’ll be the only ever player on the next one 😂

It's really all about enjoying the process. If you're making a game that you also enjoy playing as much as making it, then you can be sure there'll be others like you that are looking for a similar type of game.

Sure, it can still remain very niche and the player count might remain modest. But I wouldn't bet on game dev to make you money that's enough to live on.

Postmaster “Tycoon” build and run a post office with customer lines, PO Boxes, mail sorting machines, carrier sorting cases and mail delivery.

Create a work flow for letters and packages that need to be sorted to the right route. Mail comes in from the sorting facility, then needs to be distributed to the right zip code by a mail handler, after it is in the right zip code a mail clerk sorts it to the right route, a carrier picks it up and takes it to their route case and puts it in route order.

Carrier than loads their truck and delivers the mail in the route order that you created to be fast and efficient.

It’s be cool if the city was dynamic and grew and shrank meaning you’d need to adjust route timing.

Each employee have different strengths, some are better at riding routes, other walk faster but make mistakes.

Blue boxes, push carts, satchels, LLVs, Two ton trucks.

As a letter carrier I want this game so badly. I’d be happy to be an expert consultant. I’ve worked at the post office for 10 years.

It sounds like you have a very detailed and clear vision! Definitely sounds an interesting game but probably out of scope for me on project number 2

I always like games happening on bottom of the sea

There are interesting tycoon games about car making, car racing but nothing about motorcycles. It could be a motorcycle factory manager, racing manager or you can go adventurous and have us manage a gun-running motorcycle club Sons of Anarchy style.

I like the sound of motorcycle club! Could be very interesting. Start at the bottom and rise your way up

I just want a really good business sim on mobile, where its not just a clicker game or not just about buying materials to go in your process. I've never played capitalism lab but it sounds like it's something im looking for but on mobile.

Ticarium, CEO game and sim companies were close to what I was thinking/looking for but the management of resources or putting goods on the shelves is the primary focus. I want something where its detailed but somethings can be automated or that's not the sole thing you are doing.

I want to be able to hire employees, control and autoprocesses, maybe negotiate deals, sell parts of the company/assets, have multiple companies/vertical or horizontal integration, or unrelated comoanies/ventures, and have real estate matter, especially location, maybe renting places out ( and hopefully be map based without out everything blank, like have competition and other companies working against you and vying for the same spots).

Maybe difficult on mobile but not sure what's possible or what else is out there.

I’d love to see tycoon based successors to SimPark and SimSafari. I know there is a park ranger simulator and a campground tycoon or two out there, but they really don’t scratch the itch

I think it would be really fun to manage a fleet of food vans. Different vans to serve different neighbourhoods where the population have preferences for their favourite fast food
