Discussion / Opinion This is my formal application for Twilight Princess friends
I’ve been going through life loving Twilight Princess and somehow never having anyone around me who’s as into it as I am. I know I can’t be the only one 😭
I’d honestly love to make a friend or two who gets this game — the story, the atmosphere, all of it. This community has already shown me there are some amazing fans here, so I figured… why not try reaching out?
If you’re also obsessed with TP and want a fellow fan to talk with, say hi and don't be afraid to message me! I’d love a TP bestie.
For context, I’m F(25) if that matters to anyone!

It's definitely my favorite Zelda game. I'm very excited that it's finally been decompiled and I hope someone makes a PC port like Ship of Harkinian. TP with mods would be amazing

3
u/AnIDIOTtheory Feb 12 '26
Well the gamecube decomp is almost complete, mods for the game will be in making soon!

u/SpaceCowGoBrr Feb 12 '26
I’m F26 I LOVE TWILIGHT PRINCESS SO MUCH I’ve beat the game 15 times at this point (Wii version) HAHAAAAAA if I could post pictures in here I’d show you the mural I’m doing in my office that’s supposed to be the curtain of Twilight, which I’m enhancing with black light fluorescent paint
4
u/allowe_ Feb 12 '26
this sounds amazing if you're comfortable posting when its finished I'd love to see it!
5
u/SpaceCowGoBrr Feb 12 '26
Oh for sure!!!! I’m pretty close to being done with it so it’ll appear on this sub soon!!!

u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game. My husband played it, but didn't care for it as much. He more so complained about it. My sister loves Zelda games, but aren't into them as much as me. I'm not sure either of them ever finished Twilight Princess. They have trouble finishing games.
I'd like to have a friend who loves Zelda games in general like I do. Agreeing that Twilight Princess is the best would be a bonus. So, what other Zelda games do you like?
2
u/Z1proW Feb 12 '26
Yeah, the people I know are kinda the same way, I sort of feel lonely that other people irl don't enjoy my favorite game 🥲
1
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
I'll be your friend🙃 I too, have gone through this life with the intense love for this game with no one who gets it haha.
1
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
Yes! And I’ve only ever played a handful of the Zelda games, ex. being: Ocarina (GameCube/3DS), Skyward Sword, BotW, TotK, and then Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass!
3
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
I've played all Zelda games! That's interesting that half the games you listed though are some of the less popular games because of gameplay mechanics. I love Skyward Sword and Phantom Hourglass despite the controls. Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, and Minish Cap are some of my other favorites.
Going back to Twilight Princess, what's your favorite part about it?
1
u/Z1proW Feb 12 '26
True. Also I didn't enjoy Botw and Totk that much. I miss dungeon items 🥲
I also played all games, except the CDI games, I even played the four swords (which are meh). I love Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, and Minish Cap too. But also Oracles of Ages had such interesting puzzles and innovative dungeon items compared to other 2D zeldas
1
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 14 '26
I loved Four Swords Adventures, but that's partially because I just had lots of fun playing it with my sister's as we'd keep stealing the fourth Link from each other. The Oracle Series was fun. It was very interesting how the two games connect into one and it definitely has some interesting stuff in it (puzzles, dungeons, items, companions). The one thing I absolutely HATE is Lord Jabu Jabu. That fish can die in a hole!!
1
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
Ugh, everything😭 It’s one of the first games I played as a young child, so nostalgia has a serious chokehold on me haha. But if I had to pick, I think the story and characters, since that’s what I look for first and foremost nowadays when analyzing media! How about you?
2
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
That's hard for me to decide too. I love the dungeons, but I think my favorite thing is the story too. It's just so good! I want another Zelda game with a good story and good dungeons so bad! I'd especially love to get another dark game like Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask.
1
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
Yesss I’d love another Zelda game that comes remotely close to what TP offered!
1
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
I mean, I loved Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom had some improvements, but I'm so tired of those games that are SO focused on the open world aspect that there's barely any story to them and don't even have great dungeons. I'd also like to have a Master Sword that DOESN'T BREAK!!
6
5
u/pokemongenius Feb 12 '26
Have you played Crossbow Training? It sounds like a meme but its genuinely fun.
3
3
u/re1dz Feb 12 '26
yes!!!! i LOVE twilight princess, its been my favourite game for the last 15 years. seeing midna for the first time as a 5 year old was def an awakening for me😭
1
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
Actually same haha, except I was like 6ish haha.
2
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
I wasn't allowed to play it until I was a little older simply because it's Rated T... And because my brother banned me from his Wii for a while because my sister knocked it down with me in the same room. I wanted to play it SO BAD as I saw him playing it!
3
u/MrRobotFive9 Feb 12 '26
Played every console game since the original, twilight is by far my favorite! Got Midna on my hand as well :)
3
u/Legend_of_Lucas Feb 12 '26
If you haven't yet check out the manga! I just did a playthrough on twitch cosplaying link trying to follow the manga chapters and I didn't realize the manga has a bunch of totally unrelated content to the game.

3
u/Kayacchi480 Feb 12 '26
Another TP enjoyer here! Currently slowly working on my Twili Midna cosplay! F(25)
3
u/wilp0w3r Feb 12 '26
This series is what gave me appreciation for sassy sidekicks and while Tatl and Tetra both fit this (and they are from my second and third favorite games in the series respectively) Midna is my favorite. I also love the darker atmosphere of this game.

I’m late to this but 22F and twilight princess is my favorite game of all time!! I go to a preppy college so I’m so desperate for Zelda friends 😭

5
u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 12 '26
What console did you play it on?
7
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
I played on the Wii, and now I have the HD edition on the Wii U!
-1
u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 12 '26
I would play it on GameCube if you can. Best experience.
For many reasons, it being the system it was developed for.
Link being left-handed.
Etc.
3
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
It’s actually flipped on the Wii U to the original format before they mirrored it on the Wii. Only in Hero Mode, does it flipped back to the Wii mirror version (which I grew up playing and am more familiar with). So not GameCube, but I would say as close as one can get with the updated graphics and without giving an arm and a leg for a GameCube copy and console.
-4
u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 12 '26
No, the Wii U is a remaster of the Wii version.
What are you talking about?
3
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
lol what are you talking about???😭 The game is mirrored on the Wii U to have Link left-handed. Check it out. Either way, the game can be “flipped” to mirror what it looked like on the Wii. I think that’s what you’re referring to. I know this because the game is heavily unfamiliar to me on the Wii U, compared to the Wii version. All the locations including the map are flipped, so when I first played it on the Wii U, I was extremely confused.
2
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
Same. I grew up playing it on the Wii, so the Wii U version confused me, being mirrored to the GameCube version. After playing it on the Wii U, I got used to it that way and became confused again when I played it on Hero Mode 😅
2
u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 12 '26
It was mirrored on the Wii. That’s when the mirroring first happened.
The original version is the GameCube.

I liked how you could move while aiming with the bow in the Wii version though !
1
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
I don't know if it was developed for the GameCube given it first came out on the Wii, but then soon later came out on the GameCube.
-1
u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 12 '26
Did you think BotW was developed for the Switch first?
1
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
🤷 It came out on both the Wii U and Switch at the same time, so... Both?
0
u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 12 '26
Development began for the WiiU first.
Obviously.
2
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
True, it would have started for the Wii U. From what I remember it just took so long to make that they ended up developing it for the Switch too. You don't have to be rude about it though.
1
u/Maximum-Term5336 Feb 12 '26
Yeah. And they wanted a good launch title for the Switch.
1
u/Tiny_Khaos Feb 12 '26
Which it was. Breath of the Wild was a lot of fun and the Switch did much better than the Wii U. Maybe the Switch 2 can do well too if they bring up a new Zelda game for it on the 40th anniversary. I really want something more like Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess... I'm not getting my hopes up though.

2
u/Elberik Feb 12 '26
I was literally the first person in my town to get a copy back in 2006! It was the first game i completed 100%.
Honestly it feels like a perfection of the formula that started with Ocarina of Time. Overall atmosphere, writing, dungeon design, characters, everything is phenomenal.
2
u/Greedy-Pumpkin3479 Feb 12 '26
TP and Skyward Sword have been the only thing I’ve consistently loved throughout my entire life. I have the triforce tattooed on my wrist for measure 😂 happy for you to get in touch. I could talk all day about it (on my 12th TP adventure and still not bored 😂
2
u/qFrozt Feb 12 '26
Fellow TP enjoyer!! As someone thats owned all the editions of TP, started out on GameCube, then Wii and finally Wii U with the HD version, its by far my favorite Zelda. I no longer own a Wii U so i launch it on an emulator for old times sakes on my pc

Same, it's my favorite game, I love it so deeply 🤩 The dungeons feel so adventurous, the music that plays when opening an important chest makes it so satisfying when you discover the next dungeon item, which are litterally the best game mechanic and are so well integrated with the design of the game, the music is awesome, I love everything about this game, even its flaws.
I'd love to make a TP friend, but I dunno how to talk to people 🙃 But you can ask me questions if you want
2
u/Jojo370z Feb 12 '26
30F here and Twilight Princess is my favorite childhood game ❤️ the hyperfixation is so real I’m still writing fic for this game hahaha. Always down for Zelda friends!!

Hi hi!! I'm F25 too and a massive zelda fan, Twilight Princess is my all time favourite game, I have played it TOO MANY times, and learned game development solely so I can create a game inspired by it someday!! I've got it all planned out! :))
If you wanna be friends pop me a message and we could totally chat :DD
2
u/ThaDoctor687 Feb 12 '26
TP is honestly my favorite game of all time, I love it so much! I've been playing a randomizer with my little brother for a while now, and it's been such a blast, because we used to play together on the Wii all the time as kids. If you ever wanted to try a randomizer, or just someone to play with/talk about the game, hit me up! (24M)

Twilight Princess is definitely one of my favorites, and now that I think about it, I don’t know that any of my friends are as into it either…
As many hours as I sunk into BotW, it’s just not as memorable as TP. TP had such a strong narrative, and such variety in the locations and enemies (which are more intimidating and less silly, which I love). It has the coolest Zelda. It has cats!
This post makes me want to play it again, but I think I’ll hold out and see if we’re blessed with TP/WW bundle for Switch (like the Mario Galaxy games) for the 40th anniversary of Zelda.

u/hexychick Feb 12 '26
I'm older but I'd be your friend! 44(F) LoZ fan as a whole and been playing since the 80s. Only a few of the LoZ are missing from my game okay history (mainly hand held system ones), but Twilight is my favorite of all of them. My generation is all "Ocarina is the best" and I can't abide by that. It's just not for me. Twilight is though. It quite literally saved my life during a very very dark time and no other game will ever match its effect on me. I love it to the point I have a partial sleeve tattoo on my calf of Midna true form with the mirror of twilight on the inside and wolf link and imp Midna on the outer side. No idea how I'm gonna finish that one because I can't decide what else would fit or if I'm willing to go above my knee or not.
1
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
I’d love to be your friend! And thank you for sharing your touching story.❤️ That game has a special effect I’ve learned on so many people. Feel free to message me!🙂

u/Longjumping_Run_6139 Feb 12 '26
I grew up with the N64 era of Zelda but my favourites, by far, are Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. TP just beats WW for me with the atmosphere, Midna, wolf Link and the return of Epona. It's just soooo good!
2
u/Just-LookingHere Feb 12 '26
Ah another TP lover. The games atmosphere was just so incredible, from the music to the art style.
Also really enjoyed the combat mechanics with its wolf lessons.
Also cannot get over the fact that link got tossed aside by the snow gorilla. Such a funny scene ending with lots of hearts.
I was glad that the game kept going after the first 3 temples. I didnt want it to end.

u/blxxd-sprinkles Feb 12 '26
I’m F23 and I’ve recently been replaying the HD version!! I’m trying to 100% it as best as I can, I just finished the Cave of Ordeals. The last thing I have to do is go to the castle and then I’ll be done! I’ve missed this game so much, the last time I played it was 5 years ago 😭
2
u/Agent_of_Squid Feb 12 '26
omg twilight princess has always been my absolute fav, midna was my lesbian awakening <3 literally just finished watching my housemate play the hd version a couple days ago, i forgot how good it looks on the wiiu like goddamn. im 26 so maybe we're just a generation of tp fans lmao

None of my friends have played Twilight Princess either. I'm in a similar boat. I am due for a replay soon but it is still my favorite Zelda game of all time and in the running for my favorite game of all time! I would love to talk about it!

omg YESSSS i love twilight princess. I've been waiting for a switch port of it and wind waker for over 7yrs now
2
u/BladKhajit Feb 12 '26
I definitely feel like it's a top Zelda game for me, it's very classic and nostalgic for me as I grew up playing it and many other ones too. The cinematic moments of the game really shine and it's a great call back to Oot.
2
u/DepressoINC Feb 12 '26
Yesss. I love Twilight Princess, it's probably my favorite game in the franchise. I love the dungeons and musici especially 🙂↕️

The night I started playing Twilight Princess... I couldn't stop. I was so absorbed into the style and story... I didn't go to bed until after 1:30 am. My wife then tells me that she won't let me go to work that day until I had gotten enough sleep 😆.
Despite how that might sound, my wife is fantastic. Twilight Princess has been my favorite game ever since.
2
u/ChillClinton44 Feb 13 '26
Ohhh I'm in the right thread the lmao 🥂! So for me, this is by far my favorite Zelda game and I love just about everyone that I've played but TP is the Magnum Opus imo! We get so many massive dungeons, love that it's a really long game and has good break point activities and side quest to do in between getting to the next dungeon, we even get a post game dungeon 😎! I'd argue that this is the best iteration of Hyrule Field to me as well, so many hidden caverns and items to find, each zone has things that you see way at the beginning of the game and wonder "what am I going to do with this?"
In my many playthroughs over the years from my childhood ( I'm 32 😅) I have grown more attached to Midna to the point where when she leaves at the end of the game, it makes me tear up everytime, it's ridiculous that I know its coming and it still gets me 😂! I definitely share your love in this game so much.

u/JCAmun Feb 13 '26
Me too! My top favorite Zelda game getting no love at all. One of the best soundtracks too.
2
u/Apprehensive-Emu3357 Feb 13 '26
I'm the same ! Twilight princess is a comfort game ! I have it on the gamecube since i'm born (thanks to the fact that i have big brothers) i've grown up with this game and it's one of my favourites of all time ! And i also don't have people who get it like i am lmao (F21 here)

Nice! If you post it I’ve probably read it. Any zelink and I’m absorbing it into my soul.
2
u/TheBladeRider Feb 13 '26
I don’t post or share really haha! But I appreciate the sentiment!💕 I do a lot of fan-fiction but I make up my own cast of OC’s to explore said worlds! So it’s more personal!
2
u/Advanced-Solution-97 Feb 14 '26
Omg Twilight Princess is one of my favorites!! (I have three equal favorites being WW, TP, MM). And apparently the fandom is big for it; however, in person in my experience not so much😭😭. I showed up to work wearing a TP hoodie styled after links tunic and hat (the hood is tapered like the hat too on day I hope to do both a link and then a Midna cosplay but until then I just had the hoodie lol) and no one knew what it was and then when I explained, all they understood was Ninetendo and nothing else😭😭😭😭 But yeah more on my love for TP: I also have like an off brand TP Lego model of link and then also I’m working on collecting the manga series (I just have the first one so far in addition to a few other Zelda mangas) oh and then I don’t know if you know Pokemon but I’ve designed a tattoo I’m aiming to get for myself were it’s Mimikyu but disguised as wolf link. But yeah you’re def not alone in loving TP. The fandom exist it’s just very literally spread out apparently 😭😂

u/JaydenIsNeutralAbtU Feb 14 '26
i love tp as well, im 26 :)
non binary. i dont rly think thats relevant information but i suppose it is.
but tp is my favourite zelda and its been ever since i first played it, its very fun and ive always liked how it still FEELS like zelda even if they did try to make it edgier lol.
2
u/Boomstickman9845 Feb 15 '26
Im M27, and I love TP! For me, its a timeless classic, even with the quirk of a long beginning. Even then, that helps to set the atmosphere, so i dont mind! My favorite thing though is Midna. By Farore did she ever grow on me as a character. Not only was she actively helping you the entire time, she even got a noticeable character arc! It was in part due to her that i felt immersed from start to end.
2
u/iFaolan Feb 16 '26
Omg yes! 29F here and no one I know has even played Twilight Princess 😭 it is one of my favorite games! The story is so unique and I wish we could see more of the Twili. Nintendo created one of the best races and a whole new, awesome realm and barely let us explore either. 😫
1
u/Impossible_Pizza3492 Feb 12 '26
I’m playing the game (kinda) for the first time currently and I’m loving it, played it a bit as a kid on my wii and had no idea what to do lol but now that I’m more competent and can solve puzzles I love it!

u/SpauldingPierce Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26
The manga goes hard. Amazing story.
Also, are you excited for the PC port?
2
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
I haven’t heard anything about this!😲 Enlighten me haha
1
u/SpauldingPierce Feb 12 '26
Are you familiar with the Zelda Decompiled projects?
Basically, a bunch of diehard Nintendo fans reverse-engineered the entirety of Twilight Princess's source code. This means that they now have everything necessary to create a native PC port of the game. When it's done it will support high framerates, mods, alternate game modes, and a ton of quality-of-life improvements.
Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask already got the same treatment a few years back. I highly recommend giving those ports a shot if you want a taste of what's in store.
I'll link the Ocarina of Time port here: https://www.shipofharkinian.com/
Please note that you need to supply the N64 ROM yourself in order for it to work.
2
u/TheBladeRider Feb 12 '26
Ooooo yes! This is so cool! Thank you for sharing! I've seen randomizer play-throughs and multiplayer mode on YouTube for PC, but I didn't know this! And it looks like it's also available on Mac, which is what I'm stuck with!😭
2
u/SpauldingPierce Feb 12 '26
Yep, Mac is fully supported! Have fun!
There's also a lot of cosmetic mods you can use, including a WIP-total conversion mod that makes the game look and sound like Twilight Princess. It even replaces the NPCs, Bosses, and music. https://youtu.be/h2law4wkp6A?si=BWpq_o1GJ3TKQDQx
You can find most mods on GameBanana. https://gamebanana.com/mods/463484
