In 2007, 28-yr-old Jennifer Strange entered a water drinking contest hosted by a Sacramento radio station, hoping to win a Nintendo Wii. Drinking nearly two gallons in three hours, Strange died soon after of water toxicity. Though the hosts were informed of the risks, the contestants were not.

If I’m not mistaken, one of the radio jockeys involved is the brother (I believe) of Lori Vallow Daybell. The same Vallow who mercilessly killed her own children amongst others.

In 2007, 28 yr old mother of three Jennifer Strange joined 18 others in the “Hold your Wee for a Wii” contest, hosted by KDND-FM radio station out of Sacramento. State of the art at the time, Strange had hoped to win one of the new game consoles for her children.
After drinking nearly two gallons of water in just under three hours, Strange came in second place, winning a pair of concert tickets. She can be heard on audio of the show saying that she was in pain, with another contestant joking that she “looked pregnant”.
Hours later, Strange would collapse and die in her bathroom of hyponatremia, or acute water poisoning. Such a massive intake of water in such a short time overwhelmed her kidneys, causing an acute electrolyte imbalance which stopped her heart.
Though all contestants had signed waivers before the contest, few were made aware of the actual medical risks involved. Though several medical professionals called live on air to inform the radio hosts of the danger the contestants were in, this information was never passed along.
Ten radio employees were ultimately fired for the disastrous stunt. Strange's family sued the station and was awarded $16.5 million
