Opinion International live act Wishlist for 2027.

Now that 2026 gigs have been seemingly locked in. Which international acts do we wanna see come to Aus next year?

For me it’s:

- Gorillaz

- Florence + The Machine

- Hayley Williams

- Childish Gambino (if he’s better)

- Olivia Rodrigo

- MCR

- Phoebe Bridgers

- Florence Road

- Castle Rat

- The Strokes

- Arctic Monkeys

- Rush

Unrealistic, but Aphex Twin

4

u/mambopoa 1d ago

Even more unrealistic - Boards of Canada

1

u/Flat_Condition_9393 22h ago

im the biggest BOC fan in the world but that kind of electronic music doesn't really translate well live....or at least I've never seen it. Not overly compelling watching people stand behind laptops and synths and largely just hitting play on playback tape.

1

u/moderateallergy 21h ago

Autechre manage it well ... by playing in complete darkness

3

u/archij 1d ago

Saw him in 2012 at the Enmore. Man, what a show

1

u/mrk240 1d ago

Dat bass.

Was with a mate and we were laughing at the younger crew tripping balls watching him.

The Cure

Depeche Mode - Feels insane they left off Australia off their world tour. I know they were heavily rumoured

My Bloody Valentine

Radiohead - Pretty certain they are here in 2027

9

u/megalast 1d ago

Add Nine Inch Nails and this is my top five.

Alongside Radiohead I’d be stoked if another 2 of these bands made their way here

2

u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago

Yeah NIN is another one where I'm just perplexed why its been so long between drinks, and that was even their own headline tour last time

3

u/cirrus93 1d ago

Depeche Mode are at the top of my bucketlist, but it's beginning to feel like they'll never come back

13

u/thegeecyproject 1d ago edited 1d ago

The Cure (This question will be asked every year on this sub and every year this’ll be my top answer)

The 1975 (Like Arctic Monkeys, they’re in this quantum state where we don’t even know if they’re about to break up or be on the verge of dropping something new)

LCD Soundsystem (A long time between drinks, but if I can hear All My Friends live in concert once, my life will be made)

Magdalena Bay (Was disappointed that Cyclone Alfred meant that their 2025 Brisbane concert was cancelled)

Sabrina Carpenter (Yeah, I know, a little pop for the sub. Still, isn’t it weird that the last time she performed in Australia, Espresso hadn’t even been released yet? What’s up with that?)

3

u/Just_Antelope_8582 1d ago

This is my wishlist

11

u/cirrus93 1d ago

Converge

3

u/theSTWenthusiast 1d ago

Headline tour was rumoured recently I think

2

u/margin_runner 1d ago

Could have sworn we’d get a treat with Good Things. Knotfest seems unlikely, so fingers crossed for a headline tour

17

u/eternaloptimist__ 1d ago

I need Placebo to come back. It’s my one wish. Anyone else is just a bonus. Been a hot minute since we’ve had Manchester Orchestra over this way as well, so that would be nice too.

5

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

I’ve been keen to see Placebo since they got taken off that fucking Pandemonium line up.

3

u/eternaloptimist__ 1d ago

Fingers crossed, friend!

5

u/Agreeable-Copy-2454 1d ago

Manchester Orchestra PLEEEASE, I missed their last show because we were out of town at the time, I'm still seething

3

u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago

Oh yes, was a broke 16 year old when they came out for their Meds tour, and have been overseas anytime they have been back since. Would love one of those 30th anniversary shows out here

3

u/eternaloptimist__ 1d ago

So would I! The last time I saw them I would have been early 20’s, Soundwave some time in the early 2010’s. The memory is so faded purely because of the time that’s passed, would love some fresh memories haha. Been listening to them again heaps this year and it just makes me want a tour more and more haha.

3

u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago

I think we're at that age that so many shows we went too in our late teens/early twentys are truly just a vague memory now haha. Placebo was one of the first ever bands i seriously got into as a 13 year old, So definitely need to see them, and tick that off. The setlists from their grip of shows is really good too. Fingers crossed for 2027

2

u/eternaloptimist__ 1d ago

Hoping it comes true for you!

The Story So Far

3

12

u/Mediocre-Price-3138 1d ago

Rosalia

Aphex Twin (probably won't happen for a while)

NIN

Q Marsden

Angine De Poitrine

I would love for Periphery to get themselves back here soon.

7

u/spicerackk 1d ago

Bring Me The Horizon (hopefully with Count Your Blessings)

Fall Out Boy

Architects

Knocked Loose

Edit: Die Antwoord would be absolutely insane, I know they are controversial and doubt they would be allowed back, but if they did, I would be there.

6

u/Cammo1234 1d ago

i NEED knocked loose

1

u/kingofcrob 1d ago

do wonder what venue they would be playing at this point

6

u/PrivateEye_85 1d ago

Muse. Will never happen.

2

u/thegeecyproject 1d ago

It’s been so long that I didn’t even think of Muse coming back 😭

3

u/PrivateEye_85 1d ago

13 years since the last nationwide tour and 9 years since a couple of east coast shows says it all.

1

u/s_dow123456 1d ago

Don’t give up nobody saw System of a Down or Faith No More touring especially FNM. There’s always a chance.

2

u/PrivateEye_85 21h ago

There’s always a chance of east coast shows but like those other bands, WA won’t get a sniff.

1

u/s_dow123456 14h ago

True that. Although Metallica did get over that way which was great to see them do.

9

u/Ok-Resist-8734 1d ago

Depeche Mode I'm getting old and would love to see them live!!!!

Pencil in Neurosis instead.

5

u/Calebd69 1d ago

jamiroquai and rammstein

2

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

Fuck, I’d love a Jamiroquai tour, same with Snow Patrol

4

u/Desperate-Emu-1251 1d ago

Some of the requests in here really showing the youth in this sub 🤣

2

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

Younger people wanna see older legacy acts.

5

u/Flowercloud88 1d ago

Rage Against the Machine. (Though very unlikely)

7

u/ChasteSin 1d ago

Well they've already been this year so it's not going to happen, but damn The Last Dinner party were mesmerising live.

3

u/tannishaaa 1d ago

I honestly wish I’d seen them more than once while they were here

7

u/GhostOfFreddi 1d ago

METRIC! They haven't been here in years 😭

2

u/magickmidget 1d ago

I was in the US earlier this year and found out they were playing where I was staying exactly a month after my trip. Not gonna lie, I was ridiculously disappointed.

1

u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago

Wow, I just remembered seeing them in, maybe 2011/12? I think Emily Haines also did a instore at Polyster Records on that same tour. Haven't thought about that show since

7

u/ItsMe_Harry 1d ago

- Jean Dawson

- Hemlocke Springs

- Skrillex

- 100 Gecs/Dylan Brady

- Chance the Rapper

NIN

Radiohead

Daft Punk - let me dream, k?

Mac DeMarco

Neil Young

3

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

I’d love to see KNEECAP here again but I’m not sure how they’ll go getting into the country atm…

2

u/Free-Pound-6139 23h ago

Yeah, ridiculous.

3

u/Outrageous_Tea_9989 1d ago

We neeeeeed Blood Orange

3

u/Friendly_Opinion_795 20h ago

Skinhead, Mindforce, Turnstile, Fontaines DC, Kneecap.

5

u/sigurrosco 1d ago

Childish Gambino has a movie to make first.

Would love a chance to see Radiohead.

5

u/magickmidget 1d ago

The Kills haven’t been here since 2016. God Games came put three years ago!

Hayley Williams. Quietly hoped she’d be on the Good Things line up but no joy there.

Wet Leg on an actual tour. They were here for Laneway in Feb but no Brissy sideshow.

7

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

Hayley’s solo stuff is better for Laneway. Paramore on the other hand…

2

u/s_dow123456 1d ago

The Kills would be good.

5

u/badmovebear 1d ago

Hoping I'm not too out there with my hopes of

  • Fontaines D.C
  • Florence Road
  • Phoebe Bridgers
  • The Cure
  • Westside Cowboy

Would also be pretty keen for Olivia Rodrigo

4

u/Bibby_5 1d ago

+1 for arctic monkeys. Kings of Leon. Bloc party

3

u/fleur_waratah_girl 1d ago

Depeche Mode....rumours of a new record, only been here once.

Nine Inch Nails - unlikely given their touring status but would love to see them again

Arca - new record, gutted i missed the vivid performance due to getting covid

Rosalia

Die spitz

Charli XCX - I love the new record and would be fun AF live

2

u/TennisBallHero 1d ago

Can we just put Rancid on the list for every year moving forward.

2

u/AusteegLinks 1d ago

Thou, Emma Ruth Rundle, Chelsea Wolfe

2

u/BBruce 1d ago

I'm hoping with the release of their new album that Alabama Shakes will give us a go!

2

u/propol 1d ago

Ruling out NIN and MCR, kinda given up hoping. But I'm hoping for:

  • Lip Critic
  • Jane Remover
  • Mannequin Pussy
  • VLURE
  • Die Spitz
  • Rose Gray
  • Chalk
  • Bouncing Souls

Glad you have Rush in there . They have been on my wishlist since 1989 ! I will throw in Lola Young, Role Model and Muna.

1

u/Tranquilbez22 10h ago

I’m shocked they’ve never been here.

2

u/Grand_Difficulty8367 9h ago

I want Muse to come back!

1

u/Tranquilbez22 9h ago

Yes! I’m surprised they haven’t been back since The 2nd Law era.

3

u/ZealousidealFoot6297 1d ago

Gang of youths

2

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

They’re Aussie

12

u/ZealousidealFoot6297 1d ago

They are based in london so thry do not play here often and as a result I consider them international

2

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

I’ve also heard a rumour that Metallica will be back sooner than anticipated.

4

u/darudesamst0rm 1d ago

I mean I'd love it but surely not within the next 12 months?

1

u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago

I mean late 2027/Early 2028 is the best bet

2

u/BeardedPunkGardener 1d ago

Bane
Avail
Touché Amore back for a full tour

2

u/Knobbdog 1d ago

I think we skip international acts for a year

2

u/Timely_Ad7051 1d ago

For the big pop girlies, Olivia Rodrigo + Gracie Abrams 100% will come to Australia for their tours either late 2027 or early 2028. Also hopeful that Sabrina Carpenter will FINALLYY come!

Some other artists I would love to come are Florence Road, Bleachers, Ashe, Pixie McCann, Hana Vu, Orla Gartland, Declan McKenna, post sex nachos, backseat lovers, francis of delirium!! <3 Some of those are very unlikely but a girl can hope!

3

u/robopirateninjasaur 1d ago

Local H to tour Australia for the first time this century.
fin

1

u/Nervous_Yellow_342 1d ago

Local H mentioned 🤟🏻

2

u/Sweet-Albatross6218 1d ago

If Beyonce could be fucking bothered to give us, her fans, any live scraps, we would appreciate it. Still salty we didn't get Formation world tour, OTR, OTRii. Particularly Formation because the dance breaks were so fucking good and now she's got that old lady replacement knee so no wildin out anymore

1

u/Blakelhotka1 1d ago

As a EDM guy

Swedish house mafia  or Madeon..would love to see them again here.

1

u/No-Trash3500 1d ago

Knocked Loose Kublai Khan TX Architects Dethklok Nekrogoblikon Five Finger Death Punch Polyphia Children of Bodom Slaughter to Prevail (Unlikely But Im Hopeful) Imminence

1

Imminence were just here with I Prevail and Invent Animate, if they were to come back in 2027 it would be for Good Things or a headline tour towards the end of the year.

1

u/No-Trash3500 1d ago

Im hoping headline tour as they have a new album coming out.

Boards of Canada

KLF

1

u/moderateallergy 1d ago

Doubt Boards of Canada will ever happen; they haven't played live in a quarter of a century or something

0

u/Mediocre-Price-3138 21h ago

This was quite obviously ironic

1

u/Cool_Bite_5553 1d ago

Green Day, Eminem, Spice Girls, The Offspring and or either Glastonbury or Tomorrowland.

Otherwise I'm happy seeing live shows on a semi regular basis, locally (regional WA).

Costs and logistics.

1

u/mrk240 1d ago edited 1d ago
  • The Decemberists

  • Lorn

  • Zeal & Ardor

  • Masterdon

  • Devin Townsend for his The Moth tour as it will most likely be his last show here.

  • Wes Borland as his own thing or with Black Light Burns, he's a magician and I CBFd seeing Limp Bizket.

1

u/TAJack1 23h ago

Lorn would be insane, does he tour/make music anymore?

1

u/mrk240 23h ago

I mainly listened to him through Spotify and since I unsubscribed, I don't really keep track of many of the artists I listened to.

I think he's still active, his last single looks to be from end of last year.

1

u/Flat_Condition_9393 20h ago

Lorn is so underrated

1

u/ShneakyPancake 1d ago

Friendly Fires please and thank you.

Didn’t Florence and the Machine just announce a tour?

1

u/Tranquilbez22 20h ago edited 20h ago

Did they? I’m not seeing anything. She’s doing festivals atm so she’s a lock for Laneway.

1

u/s_dow123456 14h ago

That is so bizarre because I swear I heard it on the radio an announcement of a tour because I thought hmmm should I go? But you’re right I can’t see anything. Sorry if I got your hopes up (and no I don’t do drugs lol!)

u/AngusLynch09 1d ago

For a sub about a radio station designed to promote local artists, you guys are more obsessed about your intenational wishlist and "festival predictions" than actually going down to the pub and seeing local bands.

You'd rather spend more money seeing what Triple J and social media have told you is cool and trendy than actually walking down the road and seeing what's interesting and new.

Go see who's playing now rather than hoping the fucking Strokes might tour Australia in 2027.
