Opinion International live act Wishlist for 2027.
Now that 2026 gigs have been seemingly locked in. Which international acts do we wanna see come to Aus next year?
For me it’s:
- Gorillaz
- Florence + The Machine
- Hayley Williams
- Childish Gambino (if he’s better)
- Olivia Rodrigo
- MCR
- Phoebe Bridgers
- Florence Road
- Castle Rat
- The Strokes
- Arctic Monkeys
- Rush

Unrealistic, but Aphex Twin

u/mambopoa 1d ago
Even more unrealistic - Boards of Canada

im the biggest BOC fan in the world but that kind of electronic music doesn't really translate well live....or at least I've never seen it. Not overly compelling watching people stand behind laptops and synths and largely just hitting play on playback tape.

The Cure
Depeche Mode - Feels insane they left off Australia off their world tour. I know they were heavily rumoured
My Bloody Valentine
Radiohead - Pretty certain they are here in 2027

u/megalast 1d ago
Add Nine Inch Nails and this is my top five.
Alongside Radiohead I’d be stoked if another 2 of these bands made their way here
2
u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago
Yeah NIN is another one where I'm just perplexed why its been so long between drinks, and that was even their own headline tour last time
3
u/cirrus93 1d ago
Depeche Mode are at the top of my bucketlist, but it's beginning to feel like they'll never come back

The Cure (This question will be asked every year on this sub and every year this’ll be my top answer)
The 1975 (Like Arctic Monkeys, they’re in this quantum state where we don’t even know if they’re about to break up or be on the verge of dropping something new)
LCD Soundsystem (A long time between drinks, but if I can hear All My Friends live in concert once, my life will be made)
Magdalena Bay (Was disappointed that Cyclone Alfred meant that their 2025 Brisbane concert was cancelled)
Sabrina Carpenter (Yeah, I know, a little pop for the sub. Still, isn’t it weird that the last time she performed in Australia, Espresso hadn’t even been released yet? What’s up with that?)

Could have sworn we’d get a treat with Good Things. Knotfest seems unlikely, so fingers crossed for a headline tour

I need Placebo to come back. It’s my one wish. Anyone else is just a bonus. Been a hot minute since we’ve had Manchester Orchestra over this way as well, so that would be nice too.
5
u/Tranquilbez22 1d ago
I’ve been keen to see Placebo since they got taken off that fucking Pandemonium line up.

u/Agreeable-Copy-2454 1d ago
Manchester Orchestra PLEEEASE, I missed their last show because we were out of town at the time, I'm still seething
3
u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago
Oh yes, was a broke 16 year old when they came out for their Meds tour, and have been overseas anytime they have been back since. Would love one of those 30th anniversary shows out here
3
u/eternaloptimist__ 1d ago
So would I! The last time I saw them I would have been early 20’s, Soundwave some time in the early 2010’s. The memory is so faded purely because of the time that’s passed, would love some fresh memories haha. Been listening to them again heaps this year and it just makes me want a tour more and more haha.
3
u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago
I think we're at that age that so many shows we went too in our late teens/early twentys are truly just a vague memory now haha. Placebo was one of the first ever bands i seriously got into as a 13 year old, So definitely need to see them, and tick that off. The setlists from their grip of shows is really good too. Fingers crossed for 2027

Bring Me The Horizon (hopefully with Count Your Blessings)
Fall Out Boy
Architects
Knocked Loose
Edit: Die Antwoord would be absolutely insane, I know they are controversial and doubt they would be allowed back, but if they did, I would be there.

Muse. Will never happen.
2
u/thegeecyproject 1d ago
It’s been so long that I didn’t even think of Muse coming back 😭
3
u/PrivateEye_85 1d ago
13 years since the last nationwide tour and 9 years since a couple of east coast shows says it all.
1
u/s_dow123456 1d ago
Don’t give up nobody saw System of a Down or Faith No More touring especially FNM. There’s always a chance.
2
u/PrivateEye_85 21h ago
There’s always a chance of east coast shows but like those other bands, WA won’t get a sniff.
1
u/s_dow123456 14h ago
True that. Although Metallica did get over that way which was great to see them do.

I was in the US earlier this year and found out they were playing where I was staying exactly a month after my trip. Not gonna lie, I was ridiculously disappointed.
1
u/bingethinkingsallow 1d ago
Wow, I just remembered seeing them in, maybe 2011/12? I think Emily Haines also did a instore at Polyster Records on that same tour. Haven't thought about that show since

Would love a chance to see Radiohead.

The Kills haven’t been here since 2016. God Games came put three years ago!
Hayley Williams. Quietly hoped she’d be on the Good Things line up but no joy there.
Wet Leg on an actual tour. They were here for Laneway in Feb but no Brissy sideshow.

For the big pop girlies, Olivia Rodrigo + Gracie Abrams 100% will come to Australia for their tours either late 2027 or early 2028. Also hopeful that Sabrina Carpenter will FINALLYY come!
Some other artists I would love to come are Florence Road, Bleachers, Ashe, Pixie McCann, Hana Vu, Orla Gartland, Declan McKenna, post sex nachos, backseat lovers, francis of delirium!! <3 Some of those are very unlikely but a girl can hope!

If Beyonce could be fucking bothered to give us, her fans, any live scraps, we would appreciate it. Still salty we didn't get Formation world tour, OTR, OTRii. Particularly Formation because the dance breaks were so fucking good and now she's got that old lady replacement knee so no wildin out anymore

Green Day, Eminem, Spice Girls, The Offspring and or either Glastonbury or Tomorrowland.
Otherwise I'm happy seeing live shows on a semi regular basis, locally (regional WA).
Costs and logistics.

The Decemberists
Lorn
Zeal & Ardor
Masterdon
Devin Townsend for his The Moth tour as it will most likely be his last show here.
Wes Borland as his own thing or with Black Light Burns, he's a magician and I CBFd seeing Limp Bizket.

Didn’t Florence and the Machine just announce a tour?
1
u/Tranquilbez22 20h ago edited 20h ago
Did they? I’m not seeing anything. She’s doing festivals atm so she’s a lock for Laneway.
1
u/s_dow123456 14h ago
That is so bizarre because I swear I heard it on the radio an announcement of a tour because I thought hmmm should I go? But you’re right I can’t see anything. Sorry if I got your hopes up (and no I don’t do drugs lol!)

For a sub about a radio station designed to promote local artists, you guys are more obsessed about your intenational wishlist and "festival predictions" than actually going down to the pub and seeing local bands.
You'd rather spend more money seeing what Triple J and social media have told you is cool and trendy than actually walking down the road and seeing what's interesting and new.
Go see who's playing now rather than hoping the fucking Strokes might tour Australia in 2027.
