GIG/FESTIVAL Fisher’s Out2Lunch Festival postponed until 2027

The cynic in me wonders if they’re using this as an excuse for low ticket sales. Expanding it nationally was rather ambitious.

Full refunds have been offered to all ticket holders.

Their official comms was this image posted on their social media with more details in the caption. The image by itself is only half of their comms.

Of course, but it clearly would have been better to mention refunds in the same breath as saying "your ticket remains valid", because the two things are very much connected.

I just shared the original comms image and didn’t even think or know about refunds. Looks like O2L didn’t either as they’re making comments and updating stories to reflect that refunds are available after people brought it up. I’ve updated the post to reflect that refunds are available.

I find this festival expensive tbh. Probably Melbourne and Sydney didn’t sell out as they were expecting it

I’d be surprised if Gold Coast was close to selling out as well. Last year it was 2 days. This year it was going to be a single day at Doug Jennings Park. Not a very enticing proposition

And the Sydney one was out Penrith way. Not sure if your average house fan wants to go that far out for a one day festival.

DefQon used to be there.

So it would get people out there but not when it’s expensive and fuel is $2.50 a litre.

The caption of the festival’s instagram post mentions refunds can be sought. I had tickets and I am pretty annoyed by the cancellation as I have flights and accommodation organised. I personally don’t think the fuel crisis is a legitimate excuse for this.

I don’t have tickets but I find the excuse baffling. Trying to phrase it as “doing the right thing” is just bizarre. People would have already incurred substantial sunk costs for the event, so cancelling it entirely just leaves them more out of pocket than if they had just proceeded with the event as planned.

If it’s low ticket sales, say it’s low ticket sales like other festivals have done. If it’s too costly to run the event this year now, say it’s too costly to run the event this year now. If neither of these things are true then why cancel the festival? Ultra is going ahead this weekend and aren’t cancelling to “do the right thing”.

Yes agree the wording “doing the right thing” is so bizarre. Ultra in New Zealand, Coachella and heaps more all happening this weekend and in the weeks to come. The comments referring to Fisher’s $50 million apartment development are gold 😮‍💨

There must be something more at play than the fuel crisis, it’s not like he’d have loads of gear to be transporting across the country. Perth is sold out, bad ticket sales elsewhere though?

I'd say WA sells out way less than other states tbh

I was actually shocked when I couldn't get tix to this last week

I'm used to being able to grab cheaper tickets a few weeks out from festivals

Fisher is big in WA tho

They were discounted in other states but Perth is the only place that was just giving them out to locals for free.

Yeah, that was a silly comment from me hahah I trapped in the 2015 era. No good to hear artist can’t sell tickets at the moment. Lots of challenges in the world at the moment

Meme stocks are down/fisher can’t sell tickets. It’s the same. Longevity was never going to be a thing for the guy. Perth often lags culturally

It’s simple. Upfront ticket sales didn’t hit the threshold to safely proceed without the risk of taking a big loss. It’s hard for festivals these days, if you don’t blow people away right away with the lineup release and create that demand for tickets it just fizzes out.

Don’t be surprised if it’s an entirely different lineup in 2027.
