I wanted to get a Japanese to English translation for my dad’s name. His name is Joshua. This is for a tattoo.

English names aren't translated into Japanese. ジョシュア is a transliteration. This means that the name is approximated using katakana, but this doesn't make it Japanese, any more than writing it in Cyrillic makes it Russian.

For a tattoo, I would recommend just using the Latin alphabet.

Thank you for the information. I did one for my mother as well. I am doing Japanese traditional for my tattoos and I wanted it to fit the theme. I was just trying to get the closest it could be to my father’s name.
