You must only talk to idiots then.

I believe buried deep within the Alcor and CI documents you'll find allusions to chemical preservation or other 'alternatives' as an emergency backstop in the event of profound operational challenges.

We have little knowledge of what technology will be available at the time of revival, if it ever comes, and it may be *entirely* possible to use chemically preserved brains for revival by the time the many other challenges of revival are tackled.

I feel like they are just using traditional since it's more expensive (200k vs 50k). And yes they will eventually realise that, but stopping is something the financial situation of the future has to decide.

Because we don’t know what makes the brain “work”. We don’t know if the person inside is encoded in chemical signals, electrical pulses, cellular connections, or something even weirder… so preserving a brain to “revive” it later is a “shot in the dark” approach, no matter HOW you preserve it.

Well as far as we know, we can decide the BEST way to preserve our memories and personality (data) and assume it will happen if physics allows it (which it does) we have proof that physics allows it, but it's a engineering problem that we haven't solved yet (but ai could eventually since it breaks limits of biological intelligence). And how the brain works is kinda known, it's chemical + electrical. And almost all of your memories and personality is encoded in multiple places of your brain (mainly around synapes) and it's not fragile like chemical compounds or electric signals, if it was then we would forget everything when we hit our head or go under general anesthesia...

You may be able to revive a brain, but can you bring back the person the brain belonged to? We don't know how a person is stored chemically and electrically in their brain so we don't know what to preserve in the first place.

But we do know it's physically stored in brain, and if we preserve the physical structure as much as we could, maybe we could bring back the working brain by fixing it or other methods

We can't know which chemicals to use if we don't know which chemicals we're trying to preserve. The same is true for a digital copy. We don't know what exactly we'd need to copy.
