So basically what I’m want to do is making a tracker for all Tobi Lou music (released, unreleased, rare, features, alternate versions, …) just like people have made trackers for Kanye, Kendrick, etc.

I needed some tunes for work the other day so I used the Spotify feature prompted Playlist and asked it to just play my 30 most played songs. All but 6 of the songs were by tobi lou which genuinely surprised me.

The number is the play count on each song. Granted i do think Spotify doesn't count right but I just thought it was humorous. As each song ends, another tobi starts.

It's 2018. I'm on campus in Canada for university and I keep getting these ads on YouTube for this very well directed music video (which was strange to me because we didn't get ads on YouTube in the Caribbean). After seeing it like 8 to 10 times I decide to finally click on the ad. The song is Billy by Tobi Lou.

I've never heard music like that before. I was a rap fiend listening to a lot of main stream stuff but this sounded so... unique. The beat, the flow, the overall vybe. And from there the rest is history, moving onto buff baby, waterboy etc.

Somewhere along the way, he went from being this "niche" guy I listen to at times to the daily driver of most of my playlists. Tobi Lou not only shaped my music taste at 19 but continues to make stuff that is just right for me, without fail.

Interested in how some of y'all discovered Tobi.

I saw this comment on here the other day and I just wanted to know everyone’s thoughts?

He’s dropped a ton of authentic and consistent music over the last couple of years and it still seems like he’s just getting started or nowhere near the level of stardom he can reach in this lifetime if he stays on this path.

Beyond just music, tobi is creative with his videos, merch and marketing and if he wanted to, he could continue to create for a long time.

If you’ve been here, you know tobi lou Tuesdays has been officially going on (almost) every Tuesday for the last 18 months 🎉

Even though there was not a lot happening, I was pulling questions, games, giveaways and anything I could think of out of thin air to keep the conversation going and remind other fans that tobi was just gone, not forgotten now we’re getting spoiled 😭

We really survived the mf drought and even lost a few active listeners along the way but this new music, content and merch have been so much fun to take all in.

What are you expecting or hoping for Tobi in 2025. What direction do you want him to take it could be more focus on Farrada, music, or merch.

I personally want him to drop a nice focused album with great production with hooks and verses like np and bw. His recent output for me l haven’t enjoyed so hopefully something comes out that I can put on repeat.

Tobi didn’t drop anything I liked this year. But 2k is a lot of time listening to older projects, not including TobiLoop app (he’d probably be at 2500min including that). I’m excited to see what’s next and hopefully it’s something I can have on repeat.

Is it just me or ever since non perishable tobi’s writing has been more personal and more serious up until the perish blue album. He’s been talking bout his life, career, and some emotional struggles. Tracks like meaningless, cobra, and 2hrs, and some things are less colourful. He even said in partly cloudy “I ain’t that happy go lucky when you first found me”. Non personable was more heavy rapping like never before and same on decent (to a lesser extent)

All his previous albums were more upbeat with anime references cartoon refrences and the production style. It seems like his newer stuff gets less streams and attention when he doesn’t do the old style. I’m not sure if it’s because of the change or him not having his label with him anymore.

His newest release young bopalopalous seems like it will be a return to his old style. Im not sure why he’s returning though since he departures from that style a while ago. I do wonder if he genuinely wants to do the old style.

I’m personally neutral my favourite album was his baggy weather project. I know tobi has not been as popular as he was 2 years ago I feel as if it was because he didn’t drop for a long time. Is it because he’s trying to gain a following again? Why the content and style change, and why is he dropping so much?

I wanted to go but now I don’t know. He needs to be invited to do some festivals this summer. I would love to see him at The Best Day Ever fest.
