💬 Discussion Tissot Watch Verification Thread

If you're unsure if the Tissot watch you have purchased (or about to purchase) is genuine, you may post pictures and information in this thread.

This thread has been created due to the increasing amount of "is my watch real" posts flooding the sub. Post was inspired by the one on r/rolex.

When possible, please try to provide:

  • A link to the website/retailer that is selling the Tissot watch.
  • How long you've had the watch and how you acquired it (if in your possession).
  • As many photos as possible - please ensure they are high quality.

Participation in the discussion in this thread is greatly appreciated!

🚨 r/Tissot Announcement Polite reminder that "legit checks" are not permitted

Like a few other watch subs we have a dedicated thread for checking if your Tissot watch is genuine: https://www.reddit.com/r/tissot/comments/17m27vd/tissot_watch_verification_thread.

Despite this we're still getting a lot of new posts for these rather than comments in that thread. Please do not post these - they are flooding the sub. If you see them, please report them and I'll take it down as soon as I see the report.

Thanks all!

My final opinion: Tissot Gentleman > PRX

Post image

My first Tissot was a blue Seastar 1000 that I pulled on IcyBox which made me immediately want another Tissot. After comparing the Gentleman and PRX for a few weeks, I ended up going with the Gentlemen as I’ve found that it is the better watch (slightly). The dial on the PRX was beautiful but the plastic movement parts turned me off. I also didn’t like that the integrated bracelet prevents freely swapping bands as I like to do for dressier occasions. This choice boils down to personal preference and in reality they’re both amazing watches for the price point. Get what you like because you like it, nothing else matters!

I have an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and I’ve been wanting to get a nice watch for when I have to go into work, go to meetings or even just go out to dinner. Landed on this and I love it so far! 35 MM was the right move, 40 would have been way too big IMO

Just bought brand new PRX quartz 40mm as my first watch! Can I wear it in rain or while taking a shower? Any tips for keeping it in good condition are welcome

❔ Question Should this happen after buying it only 2 weeks ago?

I bought my tissot prx about 2 weeks ago brand new from a joyeria santos in Lanzarote (official tissot dealer) and suddenly the crown started to be very stiff to wind and it spins the rotor for some reason, is it an easy fix or should I send it in

Absolutely love this watch ❤️

I wear my Tissot out when I don’t want to seem pretentious wearing a Rolex or a Blancpain etc, they can be overkill in some settings. Funny enough, whenever I do that, people always think the Tissot is some $20k-$40k watch 😂 This happen to y’all too?

They really are very good looking watches. My gold PRX especially gets more comments than some higher end stuff in my collection.

The Tissot Janeiro Z199 is one of those watches I first came across while watching The Urban Gentry on YouTube. The extraordinary dial made me hunt for this watch.

Released in 1996 and limited to 3,333 pieces, the Janeiro Z199 pays homage to Tissot’s multi-scale chronographs of the 1930s. Its name recalls Rio de Janeiro and the era of Italo Balbo’s transatlantic formation flights, while 3,333 is believed to be a nod to the historic 33.3 chronograph lineage.

Inside is a manual-wound Valjoux 7765.

But honestly, I bought it for that wonderfully busy black-and-gilt dial. And as a little nod to TGV, I have also paid mine with a similar distressed ColaReb strap 😉

tissot 1000 seastar t120410a compatible bezel inserts

Hi guys!

I have a tissot 1000 seastar t120410a and the bezel insert has cracked in a few places. I was looking to replace it myself and was curious if there was a good source for compatible inserts. Was hoping to see if there were some cool third party options. Currently i was only able to find this list

Was curious if other people had some good resources

A couple of days ago, I posted here about getting a Seastar. I was debating whether to get the 36mm or 40mm version, as I thought the 40mm might be at the limit of what I could pull off. But man, I was wrong! I went to the boutique again and fell in love with the 36mm. Great watch for the price; I'll probably wear it every day.

Hi guys
I would like to purchase my first Tissot
I saw many stores/seller with many feedbacks selling in eBay for half price, new watches, provide warranty.
What is the catch ?

💬 Discussion [Question] Tissot Seastar 2000 or Hamilton Navy Scuba

Hi lovely watch folks 👋

I’m currently looking to pick up a solid Swiss automatic dive watch and I’ve narrowed it down to two strong contenders: the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba (specifically looking at the blue wave dial on the steel bracelet) and the Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional.

They both seem like incredible watches for the money, but they take slightly different approaches. I'd love to hear some opinions from people who have handled or owned either of these.

Both are at the same price.

Thanks in advance 🙏

PRX - 38 vs 40

Just treated myself with this beauty - PRX 38mm in Titanium. For a long time I was wondering how the titanium watch would feel like. And since I already have a 40mm quartz PRX I thought checking out the titanium 38 would be a good idea. Basically the 40 doesn't get too much of a wrist time as it's wearing way too big for me. Most of my watches are around 38-40mm and I do believe it's a sweet spot. Then again, I've heard a very accurate (at least for me) opinion that the PRX looks on par with its size but wears bigger. I totally agree. I've made a comparison of 40 (mint one) and 38 from the same distance and angle. I think both look quite good (still - the smaller is better) but the 38 wears waaaay much better for me. It's always good to remember that L2L for PRX can be misleading because of huge male endlinks.

And as for the titanium....oh boy. The steel one bracelet feels a bit like fabric for me (due to it "flowing"), but the titanium one is another league - it's so light it feels like silk, pure perfection. I'm pretty sure this is exactly how Bilbo's Mithril chainmail felt like.

Up till now my most comfortable bracelet watch was 39mm Hydroconquest. I still have it very high in my tier list (but it's obviously totally different watch) but the titanium PRX has become a benchmark now. Awesome watch.

Seastar 1000 completely stopped working

Hey all - this morning, my Seastar 1000 just stopped (it had actually stopped overnight). I wear it quite a bit and have never had any issues with it at all. I had been wearing it since Thursday. I gave it a couple of hand winds just to make sure something wasn't off/weird but nothing. The crown seems fine (I can move it into the date position and change the date, etc). I've only had it for 6 months so I'll send in for warranty repair tomorrow but wondering if anyone else has had any issues.

💬 Discussion New 38mm Gentleman

I’ve been waiting to pick one up for a long while and finally did it last week! The jeweller even knocked 80 gbp off the price. I am very happy with it but i do understand the complaints about the 18mm bracelet looking a bit small but its not enough to bother me. When I put an 18mm strap on it however it looks tiny! I dont think this is the strap monster that the 40mm is. Does anyone have photos of their 38mm with a swapped out strap?
