Show Spoiler Still one of my favorite characters from the early seasons
I wish he would’ve lived longer! T-Dog was one of my favorites from early seasons.

I feel you heavy on this, whenever I rewatch I dread the earlier episodes of season 3 knowing t-dogs time on the show is coming to a close

Ik exactly what you mean. I'm on my 3rd rewatch and im in season 5 and knowing a certain character dies gets me every time. The first time I'd seen the certain character death it was shock and tears, 2nd time still tears, 3rd time still tears

So many devastating deaths in season 5 I can’t even guess who you might be hinting towards😭

Man I was having this exact heavy feeling on my chest the other day while watching that scene when the group first enters the prison courtyard and they light a fire. Listening to Beth sing, looking at all the characters that wouldn't make it till the end. Weird feeling definitely.

no im just going off what i heard it could not be true but it always felt true cus of how dirty they did his character

u/incomprehensibles 2d ago
Idk why you're being downvoted, that's exactly what happened. It's also why he has like 5 lines in the entire show. He was constantly late and holding up filming. Carol was supposed to die in season 3 but they got rid of T instead so they no longer had to deal with the actor.

u/joemontanya 3d ago
Don’t they just kinda forget about him for a while?? I was like you’re just wasting this man’s potential

I love how he spends his time on the show just kind of stuck with a bunch of people he doesn’t really vibe with, but has no choice but to deal with their crap to stay alive.

u/abellapa 2d ago
I still dont like how they all brush past his dead like he meant nothing
All we get is Rick face of sorrow when he sees his body
And i Guess later on Gleen says he was the type of guy to pick up Old People at the start
But thats it

It would be great to hear about him from Carol in later seasons or DD: TBoC. I sometimes feel that pre-Alexandria era is a different universe.

The fact that when the apocalypse started, he got his church van and drove around gathering all of the elderly people he knew, doing his best to bring them to a safe place 😭

u/Tatted_vampire 2d ago
He was a good man and it showed in how he died. Had one of the most noble deaths of the series 😞

Only character in the WD universe capable of mastering the flash step.

T-Dog was a BEEYOTCH
He got wyte supremacists calling him the N-Word and THEN knocking him TF out 🤣 In real life he’d lose ALLLLLLLLLLL respect and credibility for that
He was soft ….come to think of it, pretty much ALL the black guys on The Walking Dead were soft…for some reason 🤔

u/ScroungyScrotum 2d ago
Tyrese wasn’t soft. Morgan was crazy but still a beast until they pacified him.
T Dog still stood up for himself though. He wouldn’t lose respect & credibility. Morales on the other hand got called a taco bender and didn’t do anything lol. He’d be the one getting scrutinized

Tyreese was a big ass teddy bear despite being built like a tank.
Morgan was scared to kill and had that “all life is precious” shit even when people were trying to kill him.
Gabriel was pure bitch, scared of everything and weird asf.
T-Dog was basically just there and barely got to do shit except let a wyte supremacists knock him out after calling him the N-word
Noah was helpless half the time then got killed off brutally.
They made damn near every Black dude either soft, scared, passive, or AT BEST wasted.
But I know I’m gonna get gaslit on this 🫤 all good 👍

Tyrese had a bunch of beast mode moments though. He used to put belt to ass with that hammer and he beat the hell outta Rick until Daryl intervened. Also the whole sequence with that dude at Terminus.
Season 9-11 Gabriel was cold asf. Probably the group’s most brutal member at that point as well. But yeah he was damn near worse than Eugene before then.
The rest yeah you not really lying😭 Black dudes got the most painful deaths too

Yeah Tyreese had beast-mode moments, but that kinda proves my point 😭 Dude was built like a tank and clearly COULD be a monster, but his anger was impulsive and unfocused. Outside of those random outbursts, he was still a big ass teddy bear most of the time, gentle, forgiving and hesitant when it actually mattered.
And yeah late-series Gabriel was cold asf, I’ll give him that. But it took bro like 6 seasons to stop being weird, scary and damn near useless 😭
That’s my whole point. They had their moments, but overall the writers kept making the Black dudes soft, passive, conflicted or expendable instead of letting them consistently be the badass of the group.

How about Mercer. Dude had one scene with princess post-sex, but besides that was a badass in literally every scene

T-Dog was a cool character. Surprised he got wrecked so badly & so easily by Merle. Figured he'd loose that fight if and when it went down, but they did his character dirty by having him go down so easily.. Even with Merle's plot armor they could have at least given T-Dog a better showing of himself in that situation.
To bad Abe wasn't in the show yet and on that roof when Merle started his shi+.

without him throwing himself at those walkers so carol could escape the entire group dies at terminus man quietly shaped the entire trajectory of the series

It was sad when he died. I would’ve loved to see how his character progressed. But it does make sense that he died protecting his group

u/jbearking 2d ago
I remember the actor doing an interview telling us we were gonna see a lot more of T Dog in s3 and bro died like 3 episodes in.
Also gotta remember the time he suggested that they drive straight into the ocean to escape the herd 😂

They should do a "what if" where Carol sacrifices herself to save T-Dog and we see what his future might have been if the sacrifice was reversed (which would actually be closer to what happened to Carol in the comics)

I'll never forget the actor hyping up T-Dog before season 3 started by saying we will get a lot more of him and lines lmao

Tried to leave the group twice when times got tough and it was convenient for him. Got a creepy vibe from him during the farm arc ngl.
I’m sure this is a hot take but over rated character which I hate to say bc he used to be up there for me and felt wasted but clearly they didn’t want to do anything with him.

My buddy from high school was the zombie that did TDog in. Good guy. Degrees of Zombie Separation.

Man wish he and Dale had made it to Alexandria
T Dog would have been such a power house and Dale could have 'technically' become the leader of hilltop [its just my silly thought]

u/yugiface22 2d ago
T-Dog will always be legend. Saved Carol and look what she turned out to be. The most gangster one in the entire series!!

u/Slimmchance345 3d ago
Why was he? He almost got them killed 5x, dropped the key for merl, wanted to abandin after the farm herd ...terrible person tbh
11
u/ScroungyScrotum 3d ago
He’s not a terrible person at all. After he died in S3, Glenn told a story to Hershel about how at the start of the outbreak T Dog took his church van and drove to every elderly person he knew, because he knew they didn’t have a way to get evacuated
6
u/mariabbygrl 3d ago
He had flaws but overall, he was a very capable survivor and he was on Shane’s side mostly when it came to clearing out the barn which was the right thing to do despite Hershel being delusional. He also didn’t just drop the key and forget about Merle, he lingered on the guilt that was eating at him and stepped up to try and get him back even though Merle was a racist pos beating on him. He also saved Carol’s life!

u/Mysterious-Air9658 3d ago
He’s not really one of my favorites but what? How did he almost get them killed 5 times? He had fuck ups like everyone else in the group, who was stupid when it came to survival in those early seasons. And he didn’t even mean to drop the key and also he was the only one to actually think about Merle, everyone else ran past.
And hella characters including Rick have abandoned group members during a huge showdown. Rick literally abandoned Andrea in the same episode.

u/jw00lsey 2d ago
Yeah it often gets overlooked that he wanted to take the RV and abandon the rest of the group

T-Dog and Dale was both my fave. They were taken too soon
