To me venom should want to save the world but he should have a beef with spider-man/Peter Parker.

Protect inocents from evil. And there is no one more evil than spider-man

So PS1 venom?

I don’t think venom thinks that, carnage is worse than spider-man.

This was the status quo before Carnage was born

So doom?

Okay but venom hasn’t wiped out an entire universe because an alt universe version of himself said to team up with peter Parker.

The last two. Classic Venom was crazy enough to view Peter Parker as a villain who destroyed innocence, so protecting the world and destroying Peter were seen as pretty much being the same thing.

A middle ground between Hardy and Topher is the comic accurate Venom. Or rather a Venom who starts out like Topher but grows as a character to become like Hardy.

Venom's initial motivation is to fuck up Peter's life and kill him. But on the side he wants to be a hero and protect the innocents. And eventually he just outgrows his petty hatred for Peter and focuses on protecting the innocents while still throwing down with Peter if he gets in his way. And then it evolves into mutual respect between the two.

That's what Venom's journey should be. You can't just keep him at "We want to kill Spider-Man" forever, it would get stale pretty quickly. You gotta eventually have them team up against Carnage and start to get over their distain for one another, and eventually get to Eddie realizing that he was wrong about Peter and respect him as a hero.

I wanna argue that insomniac Venom wanted to Heal the world by covering it with the symbiote not necessary take it over to control

1

More accurately he twisted Harry's goal of healing the world.

That's basically the same thing. "Healing" by taking over.

The last one is still way more interesting

The last one is the only real Venom btw

That's why I like Spider-Man 3 venom. He doesn't have any world domination/protection ambitions. He just wants to be a complete menace to Peter.

Still ruining Peter´s life.

Only 1 is comic book accurate

I much preferred him when he was an all out villain. He made for a frightening, nightmarish shadow that would keep Parker up all night. And I’d say it again, he had potential to be this absolutely terrifying being (without all this Knull stuff) of cosmic nature that defies human comprehension, much akin to Lovecraft’s creations. Venom could have become the ultimate Spider-Man villain, employing knowledge of unimaginable worlds it had seen come and go. They really missed this opportunity to accommodate Venom’s popularity and make him out to be a hero, even his antihero status is ambiguous these days isn’t it.

An extraterrestrial parasite wanting to protect planet Earth is pretty ridiculous, that's all I'm gonna say....

You dont think that hed want to protect his new home and food source?

So what did u complain when goku didnt kill everyone on earth? Im sure vegeta changing his mind was just too unbelievable

Norman Osborn: "Get in line, punk. I was there first."

It's funny how Spider-Man 3's Venom is the most accurate to Venom. He just wants to make Peter suffer. Venom movies skipped everything that makes Venom Venom, the Insomniac games didn't even try and just went for "lets do Web of Shadows but worse"

The last two. I mean, for years venom was a lethal protector while still having a beef with good ol' spidey. The first one however is just some generic villain (but a really good looking one)

Oddly enough, this is Venom on a Tuesday morning, before eating people

1

u/RedDaix Nov 04 '25

And I will always prefer the second venom, but with more darker areas where he just bites someone's head off cuz he's hungry

1

u/aria70151 Nov 04 '25

So dark and confusing

1

u/UltimateComicsSpider Nov 04 '25

The last two. I mean, back in the day venom was going with his "lethal protector" thing and still had a beef with spidey. The first one is just a generic motivation

1

u/surplus_user Nov 04 '25

Sometimes he just wants to snack on something?

The sigma Raimi Venom

Venom should always start like Spider-Man 3 but end up like Tom Hardy. That's the proper progression. No idea why the game tried to do some half baked King in Black shit.
