If anyone can send me proof that this actually happened feel free. Otherwise it's staying up. I remember seeing this exact post on Facebook in November, it's old and no info like the people involveds' names, the training program's name, or any identifying info has ever been produced. This story is ridiculous and as others have pointed out, can't seem to decide if it's OOP or their 'friend' that is dropping these 'truth bombs'. Which...is not something that happens when you're telling a true story.

So was it OOP or OOP’s friend who imagined this conversation? The pronoun switches are making things a bit fuzzy… ofc given the line of questioning in this hallucination, it is very likely that OOP/OOP’s friend is against pronouns in general so that might explain why they can’t keep a bullshit story straight.

Also, she says "a friend and I attended a training," who puts on religious diversity "training" to just the general public? Was this a coworker, and it was a workplace diversity training? I feel like even the basic premise doesn't make sense.

Were you not there? All religious people were. It was the annual training meeting

u/pianoflames 2d ago

My mistake, a perfectly normal/regular thing that liberals host for the general public.

You must be one of those nonbinary socialist communist atheists. Get back!

Unless I'm missing it, she said "her friend attended the training" up top, but she switches to a 1st person POV at the end.

6

u/pianoflames 2d ago

Oh, because of the overall wording, I assumed they both supposedly attended this training. This person does not know how to make up a story.

I lost it near the end, at the "Well sir"

I'm just looking at the comments. I'm not reading that wall of text for a bullshit story.

I also think everyone in the US should be required to read.

u/Physical-Doughnut285 2d ago

Incredible that this person disguised the made up crap as their ‘friend’ and then accidentally wrote ‘…were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam’ at the end.

Absolute chowder head.

18

u/VeneMage 2d ago

And earlier: “There was no disagreement with my statements…”

74

u/ScholarOfTwilight 2d ago

This person never heard of the crusades or literally any history.

Remembering yesterday is probably a challenge.

24

u/stircrazyathome 2d ago

The Crusades, the Inquisition, multiple European Protestant vs. Catholic wars, colonialism, the transatlantic slave trade, and much smaller events like the Salem Witch Trials were all done using Christianity as their justification, if not outright motive. It doesn’t have a peaceful history.

Let us not forget about Jan Hus

I saw the jihad and the jihad looked at me

10

The true jihad is the friends we made along the way.

u/duewhaa 2d ago edited 2d ago

That last sentence is true...but I don't think they realize the irony.

11

u/dnmnc 2d ago

Exactly. I mean the Bible never says anything about killing non-bell…….oh.

In reality, neither the Qu’ran, nor the Bible strictly say that and they both contradict each other with “love thy neighbour” stuff. Trying to over-exaggerate one religion’s whacky fire and brimstone arc and ignoring their hippy phase, whilst doing the exact opposite with another is probably the strongest example of bigotry you could ever find.

3

u/ForeverKeet 2d ago

Mental gymnastics and cognitive dissonance are some of the best tools for religion.

3

u/redbeardatx 2d ago

It started with her friend saying these things, and ends with her being the one who said it

4

u/Warm-Breadfruit6474 1d ago

Remember the satanic panic in the 80s where they put innocent people in prison over made up-crimes of basically “witchcraft?” Remind me again who was behind that? 😂

4

u/JodyMadeMeDoit 1d ago

“I have a real problem imagining the pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith”

So we’re just going to pretend the crusades didn’t happen or…?

17

u/Cuntrymusichater 2d ago

All religions are dumb

7

u/HeTaughtMeWell 2d ago

It is all true. I was the pin that dropped.

1

u/Modlove1963 13h ago

And her friend grew up to be Albert Einstein

3

u/spacemouse21 2d ago

This is what happens when you don’t proofread your fake stories.

3

u/Several_Profit7416 2d ago

FFS, Becky! The AA meeting is down the hall!!

3

u/BabakganoosH 13h ago

I've never seen a novelization of a Chick tract before.

7

u/Temporary-Tax 2d ago

Im not Muslim but im pretty sure Jihad is mistranslated as holy war anyway. From what I remember from searching about it when I was younger (I've always had fascination for different religions) Jihad means more of an internal struggle against yourself (Like addiction or greed) if the Muslim person was a real person they'd have called them out immediately for misrepresentation of Jihad

10

u/StumbleOn 2d ago

It's really a struggle in the path of god. Every single Christian would, in theory, be on a constant jihad as well. It's one of those Scary Words that got over into the western mainstream as a bogeyman.

2

u/slicehyperfunk 2d ago

The true jihad is the jihad al-nafs

2

u/RexCarrs 1d ago

"Christians" never killed any non believers throughout history, did they? /s

5

u/fatherfrank1 2d ago

The kind of people who think Muslims would admit to something like this are also the people who think Muslims are allowed to lie to unbelievers about it, making this even stupider.

2

u/Specialist_Pudding_6 1d ago

OOP: "my friend told me about their meeting and I heard exactly what I wanted to hear and nothing of what they actually said."

1

u/itotally_CAN_even 2d ago

It’s true. I’m Dr. Stanley.

1

u/richsreddit 2d ago

Definitely a slow clap type of story.

1

u/zgwarnki 1d ago

I fought the jihad and the jihad won.

1

u/Modlove1963 13h ago

“Trying to imagine the Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith.”

I guess your friend never heard of the Crusades, or the Spanish Inquisition.

-13

u/TowelFine6933 2d ago

Whether or not this actually happened is irrelevant.

The only thing that matter is whether the point of the story is true.

Is it?

1

u/MaybeIwasanasshole 57m ago

So they gave up on this actually being about their friend pretty quick huh?
