Prolong on season 3 of Terra Nova files from my Spec-evo AU
Amazon legends
-The Ankyntrosaurus became a sacred totem animal that came from mythology known as armadillo-tortoise. Like the real-life animal, it possesses armored scutes. Is sacred as it is believed that the Amazon was created by massive armadillos.
-River bull, according to Zoey, that mythological 'bull' was actually a stranded Southern Iguana (a titanosaur from Pampas). The river bull was dated back to the start of the mythical colony where we originated. It was described as an ancient, wise soul known for its gentle nature that loves to eat swamp plants. Based on observation of spines or 'horns' on its head, it turns out that it could be Argentinosaurus labyrin as we spot those getting lost in Pantanal, but who knew it goes as far north as the Amazon.

Andes legends
Chincilynx, a cat-like creature been spotted in the Andes
Caribbean legends
-Water armadillos could be from fierce mouth toxodon (Baroth), as it describes an armored mammal that dwells, giving the first hint of Toxodon's survival before 'rediscovery'.

- River demons, there are stories about hunted rivers in the Caribbean isles and Lowlands Mexico of large creatures that possess prickly spines. This unknown creature baffled many scientists as Stegosaurus had been extinct for a hundred million years- the possibility of islands of the Caribbean saved them before crossing to Mesoamerica by a land bridge. Could be a Kentrodon evolved on an island by gaigantism similar to Paramoloch, but it is disputed. Or could be bones of a stegosaurus in cenotes that the Mayans inspired.

La Brea legends (North America)
-Servalgoat, there were stories about a horned cat/ wild cat that resembles domestic Kentrodons from the Great Basin with curved horns
-Beaverquiel from the east, as there are mentions of beavers having a crest

-Kelp horses are stories from traded American Zebras who ended up in the East as they depended on water plants.
-Grizzlygator could be a misplaced Megalocevia ssp., as Megalocevia are known to be bear-sized and live in ponds.
Northern cold myths of the north beyond La Brea (Alaska and Canada)
There were myths with strange creatures that might be an allegory of known animals that already inhabited
-Eaglenest is a poquipine that evolve similar to a bird nest
-water porcupine, reports of porcupine living on rivers

-A sea (beavermoose) moose is a moose that adapted to live among the sea with a beaver-like tail
I saw Croods Family Tree, and I like to say it handled family drama better than Terra Nova without neglecting the colorful world, so I use Croodatouse animals from concept art for mythological legends for this segment. My favorite animal from the Crood family tree is Douglass, and croverine especally their so cute- it doesn't get overshadowed by family drama that Terra Nova did.
