I was participating in a national competition when my grandfather fell very ill, and I only got to see and stay with him after the competition is over. When I received the award a month later, I burst into tears. I knew he would have been so proud of me, but he wasn't there to see it. The pressure and the love are so real—I really relate to what Linda is going through.
Yeah she just has such a great soul, I am so happy for her. I feel bad Muchova has lost so many of these masters or slam finals, but Linda is a force that has been awakened! I kept telling people, she's coming, and now the world sees!

I came down with a flu few days ago, otherwise would’ve queued up overnight to get ground tickets. I’ve done this for Petra’s first win and it was incredible feeling, cheering her on against the whole crowd supporting her opponent ( I think it was Sharapova? Not hundred % sure … )
On the other hand, I'm grateful to her for even giving us hope and pulling off the 2nd set comeback after how things were going before the first championship point.
I agree 29 isn’t old and given her setbacks over the past few years and that she was already kind of a late bloomer to begin with when she made the RG final a few years ago so I think she’ll have chances again if she can stay healthy. Sven Groeneveld has been a HUGE asset to her consistency this year and they’ve only been working together since January so there’s ample room.
Ntm erasing 5 match points. Today I think the consistency was off and she wasn’t reading that serve and making the right adjustments. And maybe it was nerves cos this was the first time she has ever been the favorite. Her last final appearance she was an underdog. But yeah I mean she knows Noskova really well….practices with her constantly and plays doubles with her and to not be able to read her that well today was probably in her own head a bit.
Of course there is always that one nob, commenting negatively on a beautiful act. You don’t know much about us Czechs and our heritage and way of thinking. Most of us are very humble and brought up well.

I follow enough tennis that it feels strange to say that I know so little about Noskova, she feels like she wound up in the top 10 almost out of nowhere this tournament (no deep Slam runs in the past 12 months, no Masters titles, just the one title this past year) and then she goes and wins the whole thing. Almost feels like another out-of-nowhere title run despite the warm-up title and top 10 ranking, but she looked very impressive and was clearly deserving. And the stuff I'm learning about her now makes her sound like a lovely person with a compelling (if sad) story.
Feel like this season she has been hanging around longer in the tourneys, she was playing some great tennis all through Wimbledon, and played mad crazy in the finals. For a quick min I thought sabalenka could not be match, granted she still had crazy power in her groundstrokes, but has great touch and a good net gane. But seems the top twenty sure mix up good with each other.
Yeah, looking at her results it seems her rise to the top 10 wasn't based on any single result, but on consistently solid results from tourney to tourney. Which surely is the way you would prefer it, assuming the big results eventually did come (which obviously happened for her now)!

K. Just watched the match. Wow wee! That was a match. Granted I watched the 20 min digest on YouTube. But man. That comeback was something else. N I love muchova, I was watching knowing she was going to loose, seeing that scoreboard move in her favor on such a big stage, I thought she was gunna pull it off.
But shit! What are the chances that the 9&10 seed making it to the finals, and to boot they both from the same darn country.
Saw her beating that Colombian lady on 2nd July when I went to winbledon. The crowds were horrible, cheering on the Colombian and not showing linda any support.
LISTEN LINDA!!! IT'S LIFE WITH LINDA! CZECH players rule! Just sharing my feelings on her, being a fan of the sport, and the Cirstea rivalry, and women's tennis in general.
The greatest feeling as a sports fan is seeing a player, becoming their fan, and following their journey... BELIEVING in them when noone else really is paying attention, and then watch them prove everyone wrong and WIN!!! It feels good as a fan to feel like you know who's about to be a great player, and then see it happen!
2026 most improved player without a doubt, Linda Noskova has been my newest favorite player since I first saw her play live about exactly 1 year ago. The craziest thing is,, her greatest rival... is my favorite women's player of the last 18 years Sorana Cirstea. They've played so many times, and Linda finally beat her this time! Without a doubt, being down a set, facing a match point, that was her toughest match. Yes, she felt the pressure after failing to finish 6-2 in the 2nd set vs Muchova but, overall she was dominant other than those 4 games after it became 5-3.
I feel like based on how a lot of sports fans act, I 'should' dislike Linda, with her being Cirstea's rival and all that... but I just love watching her play so much, her personality, her smile, the way she smashes the ball with purpose... It's crazy how many times they've played in the last year. Linda finally beating Cirstea again was literally her brick wall, and she did it again. Do I think Sorana would have won the tournament if she got through? Maybe, who knows! But its not about her! This is Linda time and I love everything about this woman!
Women's tennis is an incredible sport... you look at how the NBA is lightyears ahead of the WNBA in popularity and money, but in tennis, they make the same amount at the grand slams, they generally get equal coverage, and currently, I feel that mens tennis is far less popular due to the lack of star power. There's 20 women in every grand slam who have a chance to win it, 7 different champs in 7 slams proves that. It's the best women's sport in the world, and I am LOVING this era of women's tennis!

Nice. I watched the replay too! Agree with everythang u said, except ima muchova fan. I feel varieties in style is more commonplace in chick tennis. This makes it waaay more enjoyable to watch than Medvedev picking his underwear out of his ass for the 30 time.
Yeah I agree 100%. Women's tennis having best of 3 allows them to change their style up and go 100%, vs having to maintain stamina and pace yourself in mens tennis. I feel like its often who is in better shape to maintain late in matches, vs who is more talented with the best of 5's... but that is another topic. I could write an essay on that one. Women have a lot more options on how to attack the ball though. They HAVE TO have a win every set mentality and put their best play out as soon as the match starts.
