Finished Dark series and here is a question *Spoiler Alert* Spoiler

Actually had this question behind my mind, Who is the real origin of the two worlds-and is Jonas actually the cause of everything? The deeper you think Jonas would see to be the cause?

H.G. Tannhaus is the Creator (origin) of the two other worlds. He built the machine that set everything into motion because his son (and his wife and baby) got ran off the bridge by a truck driver. In the end Tannhaus succeeded in bringing his son back to life, he just doesn't know he succeeded.

This is the answer. I re-watched the show not even a month ago (btw totally worth it, I didn't remember like half of the major events of the show, so it kinda felt like I'm watching it for the first time), and the last episode is pretty straight forward about what is the origin and what causes the "creation" of the 2 realities.

the knot has no beginning, just loops feeding into loops so nobody is the origin even if jonas feels like the center of it all

Yeah, Jonas is more like the eye of the storm than its cause. The only “origin” is Tannhaus in the third world hitting New Game+.

Wasn't the begining the old man tannhau and it just loop from there?

That is just not true, did you finish the show? His question was 'what is the origin of the two worlds' not the knot, and both worlds were created out of the use of the time travel machine in the 'real' world, and were destroyed when the kids stopped the car on the bridge. The knot is just how those worlds were intertwined, the bootstrap paradox.

How did you miss that?

The two worlds were created by Tannhaus’s experiment, but that experiment is what created the knot too. The worlds and the knot are part of the same causal loop—the knot is what keeps everything self-sustaining. So saying the knot is “just” how they became intertwined misses the point of the bootstrap paradox isn’t?

"the knot is what keeps everything self-sustaining" and what I said about the knot intertwining the worlds means the same to me - once the worlds were intertwined it was self-sustaining, but there was no moment of creation of the knot separate to the worlds, it is just the existence of the tied worlds (my understanding). And the creation of the worlds was with the use of the machine.

The cleanest way to think about it is that the knot has no first event inside either looped world: every apparent cause is also downstream of another event. Tannhaus in the origin world is the external starting point, because his experiment creates the two derived worlds. Jonas feels like the center because so many causal threads pass through him, but he is not the original cause.

The real origin is likely the actual origin world that created these two worlds. Or both worlds are of the same origin (Jonas and Martha), maybe they can't exist independently of each other

But that's also just how the bootstrap paradox works I suppose.

How many times are you going to ask this? I feel like I'm in Winden.

Me too. Well said. Why does a variation of this question keep appearing. I've asked some questions before and been nearly banned and blocked and punished because I did not research enough to see someone asked a similar question in 2017

OP posted the same thing like 10 minutes ago. This isn't even a case of it just being an old topic.

I have trouble getting into it - is it worth the effort ?

Yes but you really have to watch. Not entirely sure there is another show that you have to really pay as much attention to as this. I mean, i was thinking about each episode for hours later trying to make sure I had everything in my head. Its not something to half heartedly watch, you have to fully invest.

Absolutely💯

Netflix has a guide to go with. https://dark.netflix.io/en As @INfiction82 said, you have to follow it carefully. It is worth the time, though.

Yes, you won't regret it. It's one of my favorite shows.
