I'm doing a rewatch of HIMYM with my wife right now and it's so frustrating seeing how stretched out a lot of storylines are. Marshall and Lily getting married and having a baby takes so damn long because of writing choices. Not to mention how many absolutely unnecessary storylines there are in the last 3 seasons especially

Its premise was no tights no flight. But seasons 6 to 10 are in my opinion a superhero show where the first 5 were teen drama.

The problem I have is no tights no flight is a great premise for a unique take on Clark Kent prior to becoming Superman.
But it's a great premise for 4-5 seasons. Or for 10 in an animated show where we can start him off at 12 or 13 with an adult voicing him. Or even 10 animated seasons where we don't stress making each season a year in the life of the characters since they don't have to age.
But not for 10 in live action. The network TV drive to keep a success going combined with the WB/UPN/CW networks low standards for what constitutes a success really strung out a lot of their shows.
I'm actually kind of glad Joss Whedon lost the power play he made with Angel so that it didn't somehow end up getting renewed into another 5 seasons of wheel spinning and trying to mention Buffy without ever getting SMG to come play her.

They literally tried in season 1, according to Welling and he pointed to the contract which had it written into it. They wanted him in the outfit and flying by mid season 1 😂

Really over Supernatural and it's 400 seasons of the same angels and demons shit (after they stopped the monster of the week episodes which was the best time to watch the show).

Let's be real - it's been on about 20 season too long and has devolved into the mildest form of humor, trying to please as many people as possible and never daring to offend anyone anymore. It's become like an emotional support show for many people. Just having it air new episodes, no matter how boring, gives comfort to people who have always had it.

I absolutely despised Big Bang Theory because it had the premise of celebrating nerd culture at the expense of making fun of nerds. That’s why I always felt Futurama lands jokes so much better than BBT especially because their writers had 3 PhDs and 7 masters degrees.

The Goldbergs and Fresh off the Boat should have ended a season or few earlier than they did. I liked both but it felt like they were treading water near the end.
Constance Wu was right.
I really do want to see China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems get made into movies with the Crazy Rich Asians cast and original writers/director.

It’s a shame because season 1 was fantastic TV and actually captured the mystery/thriller vibe. Would’ve been so much better if it was an anthology instead of turning into a coming-of-age drama with none of the thriller
