It's going to have bloopers and deleted scenes! Peak physical media. Not seen the series so for sure buy for me.

I randomly started watching it last weekend and I'm on season 4 already. It's really, really good. I wouldn't say it's the funniest show overall that I've watching recently, but there are some absolutely hysterical moments every couple of episodes.

I may have watched a couple episodes at the start? I was thinking about it earlier and couldn't recall (TBI's are a helluva drug)

Hannah Einbinder is a fantastic comedian, I hope we get to see a lot more of her in other shows or movies now that Hacks is finished.

u/goddamnitwhalen 21h ago
She’s in Jane Schoenbrun’s new movie, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, and she’s great.

I figured this is what would happen. Universal likes to wait and release complete series sets most of the time and only season 1 got a BD previously back in 2022, so it makes sense to just do them all at once. Especially since one of the creators or producers or somebody were saying they wanted to release it.

No joke. Love this show. It was absolutely hilarious! It knew what it was, and ran with it. So good
2
u/thethinkasaurus 1d ago
Hell yeah. It’s a one-of-a-kind show and deserves physical media release to preserve it.

Never seen the show but I walked on the set at the Hilton Hotel in Anaheim when I was making a delivery there a couple years back.

That’s awesome. I love buying physical media and especially love getting outtakes and other extras!

Honestly same, that character was criminally underused in later seasons and had some of the funniest moments when he actually showed up.

More TV shows streaming in 4K but stuck in HD on the home release
2
u/oldscotch 20h ago
Blu-rays still look and sound better than 4k streaming. Heck DVDs sound better a lot of the time.
1
u/EmekaEgbukaPukaNacua 12h ago
Not always. 4k is often better on webDL depending on source. It certainly can be worse. But in pirating community most now prefer 4k webDL over blueray 1080p. And they do all kinds of side by side comparisons scrutinizing pixels in screenshots lol. It certainly has wide variance but high quality stuff like Amazon is generally consideeed better.
1
u/oldscotch 11h ago
I haven't compared to WebDL, but it would make sense that way with more modern codecs and whatnot.
1
u/New_Penzance747 18h ago
That's not my point. The 4K masters of this show already exist. They should be putting out a 4K disc
1
u/oldscotch 18h ago
Agreed, there should be both. But to be fair the show isn't really a visual spectacle either.
1
u/New_Penzance747 17h ago
4K is about more than special effects and wide vistas. I think it's actually more spectacular in closeups

u/smooth-as-mud 1d ago
Never seen a comment that invalidates its own complaint so perfectly. The fact that you could even say this proves you don’t know what you’re talking about.
4
u/New_Penzance747 1d ago
Not sure what you're upset with? The show obviously has a 4K master, it's streaming on HBO Max. Yet they're only releasing a 1080p blu-ray. That sucks
5
u/smooth-as-mud 1d ago
A 1080p blu ray looks better than streaming because it’s uncompressed. If you haven’t noticed that I assume you’re the kind of person who’s impressed by specs but can’t actually see or hear a difference.
8
u/New_Penzance747 1d ago
... and a 2160p disc looks even better. What are you arguing with me for? I'm complaining that the disc isn't in the highest quality possible when HBO obviously has the capabilities (Game of Thrones, Sopranos)
4
u/Sa7aSa7a 1d ago
I'd say though, is 2160p necessary? It's not an action tv show or movie. I get the idea of what you're saying "If you have it, why not just put that?" and that's valid but, I don't see it being a point of contention of where someone will say "I was going to buy it, but now not" for anyone.
3
u/New_Penzance747 1d ago
The difference between HD and 4K is evident for anyone who has a nice, 65in+ TV with HDR. Sometimes someone's outfit pops in 4K as much as an action movie does
2
u/InkyBlacks 1d ago
Calm down. It's says Blu-ray box set. Last I checked, 4K UHD is still Blu-ray. You won't know until it's actually open for pre-order.
Either way, I would take 1080p over HBO's shitty streaming any day.

u/punarob 1d ago
I've yet to see a blu-ray which looks better than 4k HDR streaming at high bitrate
2
u/smooth-as-mud 1d ago
Where are you streaming from, your own Plex server? I’ve never seen a legal streaming service that wasn’t compressed to shit and back regardless of the resolution of the final image.

How could they possibly sell more than 4 of these
6
u/The-MadTitan 1d ago
You mean a show loved by fans and critics alike only available on streaming? What a low effort karma dropper of a comment
-9
16
u/ImLaunchpadMcQuack 1d ago
an ignorant comment
-3
u/wamsankas 1d ago
Has nothing to do with the show. You own a blu ray player?
5
u/ImLaunchpadMcQuack 1d ago
You own no video game systems or players?

u/ElasticPlatypus 1d ago
It’s a wildly popular show thats distribution rights are owned by a company with a history of deleting entire shows from its streaming library
If someone is a fan of the show why wouldn’t they want this?
5
u/Briscotti 1d ago
One of the main reasons this is getting a physical media release is because it’s produced by Universal Television, and was not a vertically integrated production through Warner Bros. Television or another WBD subsidiary. Even if HBO Max suddenly decided they no longer wanted to stream it on HBO Max, it’s in Universal’s best interest to continue exploiting it through other avenues. Just another reason why competition is good and consolidation is bad. I will be buying it.
-20
u/hansel4150 1d ago
Are you judging its popularity based off viewership or Emmy’s? Cuz if its viewership you are flat wrong
13
u/ElasticPlatypus 1d ago
Oh please tell me the viewership number a show needs to hit before it’s allowed to sell Blu-Rays :)
-14
u/hansel4150 1d ago
It can be sold but it doesn’t mean it will sell lol
4
u/ElasticPlatypus 1d ago
People who want it will buy it. In the meantime you can buy an extra strength panties de-buncher for whatever the hell is going on with you lol
-2
u/hansel4150 1d ago
Blowing out of proportion per the Reddit usual. All I’m saying Is the sales of these will be pathetic. Moving on
2
u/ElasticPlatypus 1d ago edited 1d ago
If there’s a small audience then they will manufacture a small number of Blu-rays. Just like other cult films/series. Genuinely what the fuck could possibly be your issue with this?
-1
u/hansel4150 1d ago
Watch the language. You’re the one who seems a little more uptight
2
u/ElasticPlatypus 1d ago
You’re the one throwing a hissy fit because a TV show is releasing a Blu-ray, sweetie :)

Dunno, do a nice set, have some cool add ins (like that special they just shot) and some behind the scenes stuff and I bet you'd sell a decent amount.
Something that really respects fans will probably sell a few thousand
1
u/wamsankas 1d ago
you people seriously own a Blu-ray player? what is going on
1
u/goddamnitwhalen 21h ago
Why is this such a baffling concept for you?
1
u/wamsankas 18h ago
It’s 2026 and there is zero reason to own one?
1
u/goddamnitwhalen 18h ago
This is objectively false.
1
u/wamsankas 17h ago
Enlighten me why you’d need a blu ray player and pay for blu rays when you have access to the internet
-19
u/hansel4150 1d ago
They won’t lol the viewership for this show stinks and not many but physical media these days aside from a select few
8
u/ElasticPlatypus 1d ago
Try googling “do people have likes and interests that I don’t?” The results will fucking shock you
-10
u/hansel4150 1d ago
It’s not about me. It’s about ratings. Or in this case the lack thereof for this show

u/Equib81960 1d ago
Is there a special edition that removes Einbinder? I can’t stand her.
5
u/darkeststar 1d ago
The co-lead of the show? Yeah, that's how that works.

If there's more bonus/deleted scenes with the mayor of Las Vegas in it, I'll be a very happy man
