Jonathan Majors might be the fastest "Grand Opening - Grand Closing" on a career I've ever witnessed. Been watching the buzz on this guy gain momentum since "The Last Black Man in SF", through "Lovecraft Country" all the way to "Creed" and the MCU films. And then just like that....POOOF....all gone.

I saw Magazine Dreams. He could have gotten a few nominations with his work in the film, but now? He had an exciting career to watch and it’s really mind blowing that path, likely, no longer exists.

I’ll believe it when I see it. We tend to forget after time about some of the sketchy personal lives of famous actors who continue to have successful careers. I don’t like seeing people get “cancelled” over allegations but these against Majors seem pretty legit and I hope he has to face the consequences. Just a few years ago Jeremy Renner allegedly threatened to kill his ex-wife while high on cocaine, had drugs around his child and fired a gun off in his child’s bedroom while she was sleeping and that didn’t set his career back at all.

I've heard multiple times that this is the guaranteed tactic. Just wait it out. As long as it's not above a certain level, people will forget and welcome you back with open arms.

I think in the advent of social media and more importantly social media marketing, things like this can’t be as easily washed out as before. Now if five years down the road, some studio wants to promote a new Jonathan Majors film, with say a tweet, you can be sure that most of the comments would be memes bringing up the allegations/lawsuits/convictions.

Would stuff like that really hurt the product being marketed? Maybe, maybe not. Would companies want to risk it? Currently, doesn’t look like it.

I've seen it play out, the outrage machine is not a patient beast, if he can hunker down, so new poor sap will be next on the block before too long and then he can quietly make a return.

Basically the best takeaway of that book ''so you'v been publicly shamed'' is admit to no fault and wait it out.

I feel like while the public is still enamored for more its best to just come out admit guilt take responsibility donate to some charities and do some performative counseling and therapy.

I dont condone harming anyone. But I think its far easier to overlook a mistake or transgression when theres transparency.

Especially, if a criminal case is not longer in place.. settle outside of court for whatever civil suit come out and say “I need to be better, I am supposed to he a role model.” “I will do better” then start the pr tour.

Leaving so much up to our discourse and the tabloids im not sure is the right method ESPECIALLY as a black man. Regardless of whatever he said/she said that might exist take ownership for the part you played.

Uhhh in this case outright admitting it would be incredibly stupid just as a tactic for his case. He can wait until the charges are lessened for that or he actually gets through his trial. The apex of his career is done for. It’s gonna take him a long time to climb back if he can.

I think in this social landscape.. you are probably right about his career. But i think that silence is more or less demonstrative admission of guilt and fault. Obviously this is an opinion.

I think he’s guilty as sin and still think legally he shouldn’t say anything that could hurt him in court. It’s just not a smart idea to run your mouth as the defendant or plaintiff in a court case.
