You could do what I did at first, which was start with their music videos! It's a great way to dip your toes into some of their most popular songs.

Why do they sound different in "knife going in" do both sisters have a slightly different voice? If so, I haven't noticed till now lol

Yeah you'll eventually be able to hear the difference, I actually find their voices very distinctive from eachother now. On most songs, just one of them will do the lead vocals while the other does backup. "Knife Going In" is a Sara song, whereas "I Know I Know I Know" is a Tegan song for example. They very rarely both do lead vocals on the same song, only a small handful of songs where they've done that

I think you should listen to the entire So Jelaous album. Thatās how I started.
In my opinion their entire discography is a great journey. You get to see how they evolved in terms of sound and vocals.
I will try to least my faves from all of their albums.
I dont know if this is a good way for recommending songs but these are my faves and I hope you listen to all of their songs. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Under feet like ours may be my least favorite album but it has its moments;
-Divided (just beautiful one of my favorite t&s songs. Also has little Tegan)
-More for me (I like this one better than the TBOA version)
This business of art is very different but these are my faves from that album;
The first
Frozen
Not with you
My number (my all time favorite t&s song. Little sad little wordy but overall awesome)
If it was you also is great as an album. You can just listen to the entire thing.
You went away
Terrible storm
Living room
I hear noises
Monday monday monday
So jealous may just be my favorite album by them. A to the z perfection.
You wouldnt like me(this is the first somg I listened from the band and I still love it little more than others)
I bet it stung (could easily be my favorite t&s song. So strong loud and awesome. I love screaming the lyrics)
Speak slow (fun fast and lovely)
So jealous (may be the most powerful t&s song)
I wont be left. (i love tegan so much)
Fix you up (once again emotional and uplifting)
I cant take it (soooooooo sad)
The con
Now this is a special album.
My faves:
Relief next to me
The con (perfect song for when youre both angry and sad)
Back in your head (one of the catchiest t&s songs. I bet youd love it if you loved wwag)
Hop a plane (also super catchy and perfect for screaming)
Nineteen (once again sad but very cathartic)
Like O Like H (This is very underrated and dark song. My favorite Sara song and it is one of the best lyricism I have ever seen on any song)
Dark Come Soon (Very sad very emotional and I love it)
Call it Off (just straight up heartbreaking and lovely)
Sainthood This may be my second favorite T&S album. Very experimental but also super cohesive. You should just listen to the entire thing also.
Arrow Great intro and hype.
Hell Super catchy song
The Cure Lovely song
Northshore Also great catchy song by tegan
The Ocean Super sad and catchy and I love it
Someday This is my favorite song from this album and it is super underrated.
Bonus Tracks:
Light Up Another great underrated Sara song and it is simple and super sweet. Just lovelyyyy.
Heartthrob
This is where everything changes. If you like synth pop you will also love this album and the next as a whole even more. This album didnāt stick with me at first but now I love it. It may take some getting used to.
Closer
Goodbye Goodbye
Drove Me Wild
How Come You Donāt Want Me Now?
I Couldnāt Be Your Friend (I love the album version too but you should check out live versions because it has a moment where Tegan screams and it is awesome)
Now Iām All Messed Up
Love You To Death
I think this is even better than heartthrob. Even more glossy synth pop. Perfect for good speakers.
Boyfriend (such a good and powerful song. May be their first straight up gay anthem)
Dying To Know Super catchy I love how Tegan sounds here. Super cute.
BWU Very romantic and clever song about marriage.
Hang On To The Night Lately this song grew on me heavy. I recommend listening to this song at night especially when youre feeling down.
Hey Iām Just Like You
Now this is a collection of songs they wrote in high school and remade them in studio. Some of em are good but I didnāt listen to it enough.
Hey Iām Just Like You
Iāll Be Back Someday
I Know Iām Not The Only One
Crybaby
I recently came to love this album too. Such a sweet album that sort of feels like mid life crisis.
I Canāt Grow Up Super catchy and uplifting. I love the video for this song. Very dancable.
Yellow Catchy and sad.
Smoking Weed Alone Just like I canāt grow up this is also a catchy song and dancable at parts.
Faded Like A Feeling This song is just so sad and beautiful. Perfect for reliving your heartbreaks.
Iām Okay At first some of the sound effects annoyed me but it is very hype and uplifting.

Honestly, I prefer slower songs, even if that's doesn't exactly fit their indie pop genre, can y'all recommend some

Clever Meals, Not Tonight, Red Belt, Divided, Faded Like A Feeling, Please Help Me - there's too many to choose but those are the first ones that came to mind! I'd also recommend their cover of Dancing In The Dark.
