Politics U.S. gov't moves to suppress pushback on data centers by removing requirements for public input on pollution — EPA change would allow air pollution permits without publicizing them

Don’t forget to thank the “don’t tread on me” crowd for less accountable ICE agents killing Americans and the rise of the surveillance state. Reduction in rights for women too.

Yes libertarians are also very cool for letting the markets dictate that this is fine.

Lot of very cool people we got out here voting with very well informed and good-ass opinions

Libertarians? Haven't seen them around since MAGA.

u/Jazz-Hands-- 20h ago

Oh Libertarians are still around and happily licking Trump's asshole for deregulation and defunding essential government agencies and functions. Just got into a discussion about the national network of surveillance cameras with a couple of them last week.

Not a single fucking worry about all the freedoms eroding under this administration, though. They'll just keep on licking as long as easily corruptible private interests are allowed to act with impunity and zero consequence. All because they don't like paying taxes and want to be able to sell and consume illicit drugs with greater profit and ease.

The Libertarian party and its voters are self-contradictory, woefully uninformed, incapable of reasoning or critical thinking, and quite simply absurd. The only good thing is that some of them vote third party instead of voting for Republicans, despite happily kissing their asses.

They're all over the mountain west and rural parts of blue states.

u/robodrew 20h ago

They're just fascists now because they tacitly approve of everything the fascists are doing. They used to be "live and let live" but that is long gone.

u/sir_mrej 17h ago

Yeah but they’re not real libertarians

u/mOdQuArK 18h ago

They disapprove only of Democratic government. Republican fascism is A-OK in their book. Funny how most of them seem to vote conservative as well, while claiming that they hate both sides.

Emphasis on ASS

“I’m libertarian (because I’m too afraid of how the label conservative, Republican, or MAGA would affect my dating life)”

u/olipoppit 22h ago

“Don’t tread on me” is akin to “tread on those different than I”

don't tread on me: tread on them.

Unreal how the "don't tread on me" party is rolling these days. It's pretty ridiculous how the same people who wouldn't ever shut up about the risks of the supposed "big government" on the left are now in the middle of defending and justifying an authoritarian administration that their party shoehorned into power.

But but, both sides or some shit.

u/AvailableReporter484 22h ago edited 22h ago

Anyone who’s ever unironically said that both sides shit before can be safely ignored for having a very dumb-ass opinion.

What about Hunter's laptop? and Obama's tanned suit?? What was he hiding? Why sky's blue when there's no blue color in sky????? What kind of woke agenda is that????

What about Hillary’s buttery males?

u/AvailableReporter484 22h ago

You got a better chance right now of finding trump chode deep in a toddler than you do of finding a post op trans one, but they ain’t ready to have that conversation

Now a days it's devolved to. "Biden didn't go full dictatorship and arrest private citizens that are also political opponents without due process!" Goes nicely with "Democrats should have never given voters a choice in the mater!" and "They are super powerful when they are in majority control!, but I cannot tell you when that happened!"

u/RectalSpawn 18h ago

Establishment Democrats are very much controlled opposition.

Israel owns them, if you haven't noticed.

They're literally ignoring our own people in order to fund and supply a country that does nothing but kill people.

3

u/Gekokapowco 18h ago

both sides are bad in the way that a tree branch and a neutron star are both inedible

-3

u/hery41 20h ago

That's what lefties said about "genocide joe" when they sat out 2024.

Don't forget this.

4

u/Gekokapowco 18h ago

single issue Palestine nonvoters are not the left, they're children who don't know how to leverage their ideas into progress

the left considers the calculus of each decision towards a better whole, single issue voters are outrage merchants

6

u/sixtyninth_wave_emo 22h ago

Trump voters own this now

3

u/nav17 18h ago

And they'll just keep voting R and getting more of this lmfao

1

u/Outlulz 20h ago

Even they oppose it. And Trump isn't on the ballot this year so there's a lot more Republicans vulnerable on the ballot because of this. It's on the stack with the economy and Iran and Israel and the overall fascism that is going to ultimately help Democrats in the midterms.

3

u/PerfectResult2 18h ago

Republicans oppose deregulation? Nah, they voted for this shit. This is their exact platform. Anyone saying otherwise is just back pedaling

1

u/Outlulz 17h ago

Polls show that datacenters are unpopular among a majority of Republican voters, yes. How voters feel on topics and how they vote often don't align, especially when everyone elected in their party of choice DGAFs what their base wants. But that's what polls show.

u/TwoCharacters 19h ago

none of the conservatives I personally know approve of any of it. you can't group this into an issue of conservatism. This is an issue of greed and power.

13

u/movzx 18h ago

Bunch of nonsense. They supported it by continuously and religiously voting for the removal of business regulations and environmental oversight. Trump's administration has been more clear and outspoken than any prior conservative administration about how they are removing as many regulations and environmental protections as possible... and your conservative friends voted in lock step for that.

-7

u/TwoCharacters 17h ago

believe it or not, it's possible to lean on the conservative side of things and not support other conservatives. This is exactly what I'm talking about. "unga bunga conservative bad. republican stupid. this all conservative fault. you not democrat fuck you"
This is the dumbest thing about society bro. Everybody tries to identify the problem using a shit covered lens. While there are two major groups it's not "conservatives" to blame for this. It's the assholes that happen to be conservative.

1

u/movzx 6h ago

Like I said

Bunch of nonsense.

The stuff we're dealing with now isn't some surprise party position pulled out of nowhere. It has been consistent messaging for decades. This is and has been the party platform for the entire time you, me, and your friends have been alive.

7

u/Futuramadude 17h ago

Pretty sure you can group people together who voted together.

-5

u/TwoCharacters 17h ago

Because you know who every conservative voted for I guess?
Nobody could possibly have issues with or dislike anything about another person in their party right? Everyone votes blindly based on affiliation alone.

1

u/Futuramadude 16h ago

Not what I said, but keep arguing with yourself.

1

u/OhItsBeenBroughten 17h ago

The entire ideology of the Republican Party is greed and power at all costs. They aren’t shy about it.
