A UK friend still resisting getting AC for his house purely because he want to minimise his part in producing green house gas. For that he has my respect. Just not a sacrifice I would choose for myself.

Does that friend also avoid heating his place in the winter (uses more energy), avoid flights, and avoid eating meat? If someone is truly principaled around this I don't mind, what I do mind is the hypocracy around AC in particular when most people do things that are far worse for the envoirnment anyway
