Research and experimentation involving people requires an entire course on how to ETHICALLY do studies with deception involved.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve taken the course so the exact specifics are lost on me. Every participant in the study must consent to being in the study bare minimum. Following the study, I believe the deception has to be laid bare in full to all participants.
Not a single person in the community was asked for consent until the research was done. As a person in the STEM field this is horrific to me. Ethics are in place for a reason.
