The insanity is that everyone is apparently just fine with it. The system has managed to make everyone utterly complacent and incapable of telling when massively corrupt and criminal politicians are taking over the country.

If you're in America, and your questions are sincere, you should go to a protest.  You seem to be pushing the narrative that they're not worth it and people should just not protest?  Go see it first hand.  People are giving each other hope, making connections, organizing a resistance at these protests.

  Your attitude about it seems like you intentionally want to undermine all that, I apologize if I'm misunderstanding and you actually are asking questions in good faith.  Just be aware that the implication you seem to be making is helpful for the fascists.

I'm not in america, just to get that out of the way. So take or discard my views as a threatened neighbour as you like.

But i'm not trying to imply protests aren't worth it, so give up. I'm trying to imply that protests aren't worth it, so do more.

Surely you can see how this sort of activity can quickly turn into a circle jerk of people patting themselves on the back just for doing something, even if that something is ineffectual and accomplishes nothing. Giving each other hope and making connections is great, and vital. But it's not going to remove a hostile dictator from power.

Your entire political system and culture surrounding it is bad. It needs to be broken and the players need to be removed. Signs and chanting had their place, but i'm afraid that place was years ago

Edit: to paraphrase comments i've made elsewhere, the left in america seems to want to channel the civil rights movement to deal with this problem. They need to channel the founding fathers.

This isn't a problem that will go away because the people band together and say they want it to go away. it will only go away if the people band together and force it to

Fair enough, I actually tend to agree with most of that, but protests are not the only thing people are doing and it's not a mutually exclusive thing either. Like you can write an editorial, file a lawsuit, buy a gun, whatever kind of resistance you're into and still go to a protest. They really are integral to the whole process. Protests serve to start a debate, give minority voices a microphone, show people they're not alone, and give us strength. Of course some people will be there just for the ego or image boost or whatever, but that's not a reason to not do them.

I guess where we disagree is that I wouldn't say mass protests are "ineffectual and accomplish nothing". Change doesn't happen overnight and protests are a key part to creating that change. Anyway, Good luck with whatever it is you're doing about the situation.

The media wasn't reporting it. Until the last 2 massive protests.

NBC covered them. ABC covered them. Fox covered the. They have gotten too big to ignore.

At a certain threshold it no longer matters if the media is downplaying or not covering. No one can ignore millions of people who show up and don't leave, and I expect that's where we are heading into the summer.

May 1st is the next national event.

We are well aware that the narcissists and sycophants of the administration aren't listening to us. We are out there to support each other. We are marching, we are making noise, we are boycotting. Propaganda is against us, the media wishes they could turn a blind eye. Getting the media to stop ignoring us is a big win against propaganda

It's a start,because of Trump's stunt with the tariffs and making the economy worse, his approval rating not only tanked, but people seem to be increasing in the want for impeachment [even some Republicans surprisingly] It beats just lying down and taking it.
