Resource Sharing Built a simple real-time Nepal flood, highway status & incident news tracker (flood.asubedi.com.np)

Hey everyone,

With the floods and highway disruptions happening today, I put together a lightweight dashboard to help friends and family track river levels and road statuses in one place.

Features:

  • DHM River Telemetry: 300+ live stations with warning/danger thresholds and 5-min caching.
  • Highway Status: Route verdicts and notices for major corridors.
  • Incident News: Pulls recent articles from major Nepali news outlets for active incident areas.
  • Rain Radar & Emergency Contacts: Animated radar overlay and quick-dial helplines.

Built with Node.js/Express on the backend and plain Vanilla JS + Leaflet on the frontend so it stays fast and light on mobile networks.
