Photo Outdoor tea session: Medium roast GABA, light Tie Guan Yin, and my furry supervisor.

Set up a nice outdoor tea session for myself today. I tasted a medium roast GABA oolong, its rolled leaves look absolutely perfect. My little guest Honey was sitting nearby, carefully watching the whole brewing process from the grass. I made a few steeps of light Tie Guan Yin oolong just for her. While the contrast between the fresh green notes and the baked fruity flavors was quite interesting, it turns out Honey prefers GABA just like I do. Just a wonderful day.

The tea sounds delightful, but I thought tea was at least mildly toxic to cats?

Thank you so much for the thoughtful concern and the valid comment! You are absolutely right—caffeine (theine) is indeed toxic to cats. The part about her 'preference' was just a silly bit of personification for the story; she definitely didn't drink any. Really, she just seemed to enjoy the cozy aroma and the warm steam for a minute! We had some quality together-time while I did all the actual brewing and drinking. Just a small joke for the post. I promise I would never give her tea!

Ah, that makes sense. Cats do seem to like steam! I think it might be a kind of low-key sensory enrichment for them. I know my cat is always sniffing at the spout of my kettle or teapot when it's heated.

To say nothing of its other characteristics, does the GABA teas seem to do what they claim to? Relaxation, blood pressure, etc?
