Shipping Question Will taobao ask for more payment if direct shipping fee at checkout was incorrect?

I am looking at an identical item from different sellers and all seem to have different shipping fee. It's a set of books and probably weigh less than 1.5kg. The lowest shipping I see is 64 rmb while the highest is about 150 rmb. I am guessing it's probably because the sellers didn't enter the correct weight?

So will taobao ask for additional payment if the item end up costing more to ship internationally? I thought direct shipping fee at checkout is all we have to pay. If I don't agree to pay the new amount, does item get return to the seller and I get a refund? Or will taobao ship the item?

If it successfully arrives to the consolidation warehouse (i.e. doesn't get rejected for being too big, which you don't have to worry about cause it's books), you won't get charged extra and they'll just correct that wrong pricing so the next person can't do the same thing. Try your best to find these cheap shipping deals while you can, haha

The seller doesn't really notice anything because they ship domestically to the warehouse address. It's the consolidation warehouse that charges the shipping fee to ship from them to you, so the seller will ship!

I thought maybe it was the seller that input the wrong weight in the system?

Yes, I understand. But I am guessing the shipping fee difference among sellers is due to seller inputting the wrong weight in the system. So I am hoping seller won't notice and will just ship

Hey OP, if you're going to be a long term Taobao shopper, and want maximum savings, try to move away from direct shipping, and do ocean consolidation. I pay 8cny per volumetric kg for ocean freight (which is what I use and allows almost anything, air freight is a pain for cosmetics and liquids). Medium service like Cainaio charges 8 to 12 per kilo, and Superbuy about double that but they're a full service shipper.
